@Vitocorp LAGMs are already lv2, maybe the only special weapon I've upgraded untill now.

For the parts I was thinking on:

- Body: Speed (F-117), Mobility (F-22 and F-15);
- Arms: Capacity and reload speed of both regular and special weapon (All), Travel speed for standard and special missles or something to improve LAGM usefulness like radius or damage (F-15 as it is Multirole and have more slots).

I should be able to put both L parts for the capacity and reload speed in F-117 and F-22. Or you suggest me to put on only the M part and use other slots for the travel speed which also increases the distance where the plane aim the target?

For the F22 you'll need QAAMs capable of 1 shooting F-22 and T-50, if those are already that powerful go for speed more than capacity/reload.
For LAGM I would go for damage and capacity, than radius, that's why you need the F15 MTD for those, you need to equip a good amount of SP parts.
Keep the UGB on your F-117, you can only improve damage and capacity, you don't even need to decide

So are you saying to improve only special weapons statistics and keep standard missles without upgrades?

Edit: I've just watched a video of a guy doing 103k points at Weapon base assault mission with a lv6 F-15 S/MTD equipped with lv3 LAGM, he is very skilled. For parts he used LAGM Explosives M, Sp.W Propulsion M, Sp.W Warheads M, Mobile Fin M, Compressor M, Pitch L, and Flight Dynamics (this one you suggested me to not use, but with this he could slow to 200 kph without stall, pretty usefull if you have to keep on the ground in close range to multiple ground targets). Video was uploaded on 23th July and he aimed mainly for ground targets.

@Flaren89 don't waste 1 out of your 7 part slots on the flight control module; just turn on flight assist since this is basically ABS 1 in this game.

If you're thinking of getting the S/MTD (which is THE BEST plane for Weapons Base Assault and arguably a lot of other maps) put as many of the largest upgrade parts you can for the LAGMs (speed, damage, range) since it has plenty of space for them. My ideal WBA setup would be Compressor L + Nozzle L + Fire Extinguisher M + Sp. Wp. Speed L + LAGM damage range M + Sp. Wp. Damage X + Your Pick/Whatever else fits in the weapons upgrades slots (standard missile upgrade perhaps?).

Obviously this setup is biased towards a high level MTD but the basic idea remains true for a Lv. 4 one. Happy hunting!

Is it just me, or has this game kind of gotten a bit sucky over the last updates? I just can't seem to get any research done. I've had a dozen parts stuck at 95%+ completion for over a month now, and high-scoring missions (for me 70k+ points) will net me like 1 - 2 % research increases on totally random stuff. Half the time it seems like the research bar moves backwards...

I'm about cooked on it, truthfully.

Edit: it'd also be nice if they did a better job of plane matching, as I'm sure has been said before. I'd love to take the F-20 out in multiplayer, but everytime I do I end up in rooms full of T-50s and F-22s. Tigersharks are so freaking cool, but totally useless without level matching of aircraft.

@Louie_Schumii I still miss lot of parts. Consider that I bought everything untill tier 7-8 (stopped at Mig-29A, A-10, Su-24MP, SOD Area+ without buying them. In F-branch I stopped researches (not buying them) on Typhoon, F/A 18F. Now I'm just focusing on get the F-15 S/MTD and F-22A Raptor + upgrading F-117 Nighthawk.

@Gwenbors More you get deep on the tree, more missions you need to fully upgrade something. It has not written, but the best thing to do would to focus in only 1 branch and do that untill final aircraft, probably the best being the ASF-X Shinden II as it's the shortest and less expensive while you get a good multirole aircraft while you get some good parts. And more, if it would be so easy to get all things over the tree, why they should put on the PSN the Additional Plant Investment contract?

@Gwenbors as a heads up you research 2 parts every sortie, +1 if you win, +1 if you're running additional plant investment conteact and +1 on the aircraft you're using if you sortied with stocked fuel. If you have 10 items being researched/you have a high level plane being researched prepare for the grind.

@Flaren89 that's the thing about multi-roles. Good at everything, not so great at something unless you can p*mp them out with ballin' upgrade parts. If you're set on having the MTD as your main co-op plane and an F-22 for air strikes/team deathmatch you might want to focus all your research and credits on those two (unless you're regularly buying stocked fuel). I've logged over 200 hours in my main account and credits/research is hard to come by unless you're using stocked fuel on 3x forced sorties.

@Louie_Schumii I got 33 stocked fuel right now. I'm stocking them as much as I can, so that in the next event (the weekend after the end of this F-20 one) I'll activate the mercenary elite contract + burn out all stocked fuel during the weekend (where I can put x3 fuel, to have x3.5 rewards). I count to have at least 50 stocked fuel for 17th-20th weekend, hoping there will be also a good plane to win. And by burning fuel each mission like that, in those 12 hours I will have a good speed up to my tree completition and will lead to a huge amount of credits got.

on my F-16F DR I'll go and switch between gpb and sod depending on the mission. Gpb for Stonehenge, weapons base, and the alpine one. Sod works decently on Moscow due to it flying over buildings and taking out targets.

In regards to research I figured out early on to focus it's power. Yes it's slow but if you only have 4 things or so for the research to go to it goes much faster. And with an emergency sortie with X3 fuel? Oodles of progress. I think I jumped 20-30%!

On my quest to obtain the su-37 I just got the mig-29 (is that the name?) Anyway I was pleasantly surprised at how much cst it had to start with and with mods it was only 100 off from my level 5 modded F-15! I wish I got that earlier it may be prone to stall but had decent part space, handled well, and started with qaams! (I like qaams now) that would've been great to upgrade that instead of my now useless F-16. The Libra could be good but then again better to invest in the superior su-37.

Semi-off-topic here but I don't think it's worth to open an entire Ace Combat thread for it.
I really hope they'll bring Pops' MiG-21, it was pretty unique in it's Belkan colours and there is a very little amount of russian special planes.
Here's an intriguing mod I will download soon for Vector Thrust.

I always liked this guy because my subconcious was associating him to a friendly figure, and that's why, recently I realized he looks like my father and they all say I'm his copy, so this is probably a projection how I would look like with 20/30 years more, an almost perfect cosplay in this case
(Buchner here has a friendlier face and he's fatter though)
Plus there are some other similarity, my father works as a mechanic and maintenance crew in the AMI (our Air Force, first he was operating on Tornados, now on Eurofighters and that's explains why I use the Typhoon so much in this game, too bad we don't have the Tornado, the interceptor variant one), just like Pops and the first time he played Ace Combat, among the MASSIVE roaster of planes I had in AC5, he took a MiG-21, so yeah Pops is my father, my father is Pops

I'm happy to say that I finally have been able to do sorties again without being kicked off. Even better is that this is only my first day back on and I already managed to get one of those special Aircraft drops :D

Incredible. Got a second Special aircraft drop yesterday (the AV-8)... 2 drops in 3 days!! After 2 months without seeing any.
The problem is that these new planes have very low stats. They will be useless.

The F-5 should be plenty of fun with those UGBs if you manage to get it. Only managed to get Greg Gates' A10 so far :/

EDIT: On a more positive note; my WBA Wagon is at level 6 with level 3 LAGMs

Research took forever after the update but it's time to see what it can do. Previously wasn't able to one shot oranges so hopefully the upgrade did the trick (not sure if it's also necessary to fit MSL damage M, I had damage S on at level 5 and needed a couple of gun rounds to finish an orange enemy off).

Other 2 MVPs with lv4 F-117 Nighthawk.
First at Weapon base assault where, have to say, I just mostly killed everything other ppl left with 10-40% life by bombing an area without finish the job. Plus I got most of the AS targets with GPBs and then switch to regular missle and gun for a second one. 56k and best of the lobby.
Second at Mosca, nothing special to say. 42k but I was the second of the lobby, but as my team won and the best scored guy (50k) was on the opposite team, I got the label.
I don't know if switch to SODs. I find GPBs quite hard to use because their target acquisition sucks.

For F-117 possible parts equipment, other than "Bomb capacity and reload speed", I think it can be the "GPB range acquisition" if I keep with that special weapon, as GPB also got poor range, almost the same as regular missles. Waiting to their unlock of L version of that part, need to see in which branch will go.

For data link, I think to use:
- Attacker: "Long Range", for the same reason above and ground attacks feels more to be acquired from longer disances as there's no chance they move away, so first to lock, first to destroy;
- Fighter: "High homing+", self explanatory, CPU aircrafts will try to avoid missles, the better are the homing ability of the missle, higher chances it have to hit;
- Multirole: "Critical" to recover part of the damage gap from a pure roler (ground for attackers, air for fighters) and maybe switch when I'll be higher rank to "Quick Recharge+" to fire as many missles possible as multirole have a lot of available targets on the screen.

Out of curiousity, is it possible to change the amount of SP weapons you have? I'm about to get back on and do more sorties but I was just curious to know.

Also, does anyone here talk about the storyline? I haven't posted here a lot because of the frustration I had with all the disconnects so maybe I missed something, but I seem to only see posts about the online co-op (and deathmatches)

There are a few ways. You can research and equip any of the Advanced Target Awareness Circuit (SP.W) parts for more special missiles, or the Advanced Hard Points (SP.W) for more bombs. Upgrading the plane to the next level also should add more weapons, both standard and special.

As fatman said. Look for parts to increase recharge speed and capacity and/or upgrade the aircraft.

For the storyline, no one talks about that because the dulcrum of the game it's the co-op here as it's an online game.

If you don't think people talk about the storyline you must not've played AC1-6 =)

Played only AC2 when I was a child, so...

EDIT (after 2 hours I wrote): I did again Weapon base assault mission, this time in 4-players lobby. Both times only B ranked, but both times higher score, win and get MVP label with lv4 F-117 lv1 GPBs. Both times 61k as there were more targets available as CPU takes ages to kill something.

Haven't posted here in awhile. Here is my update:
T50 is now at level 5 with level 2 HVAA's, quite a deadly machine.
Su35 is at level 4 and has already proven to be a killer.
Because of the Su35, i've officially retired my F14. SHOCKING ISN'T IT!?!?:scared:
Did i mention that Moscow is so effing awesome aswell?

I guess you need to change your signature to #Su35masterrace now.

I have 5 fighters, for the variety of choice
Each one with a different SP weapon, of course.
Anyway, the Aigaion is back (for a limited time)! They want us to recreate a simil-battle staged in Area 88, with Area 88 aircrafts of course, but you can use whatever plane you want, not sure if there are special rewards for those who launch with an Area 88 plane.

I haven't seen a special mission in weeks, they think I'll get one in 4 days?

An american that uses russian aircrafts and have one as profile image? Just lol

Anyway, why do you choose to have 2 fighters?

@Bobert power There's a way around that with the F-5 now in the game .

F-5E_Top_Gun_2.jpg

So I just sortied in an SR1 with this guy and I don't think he understood the concept of a "Beginners Welcome" room (I tend to think of it as a place where you babysit nuggets and help them get A and S ranks upon mission completion).

I sortie in my Berkut because this helps us get through the first phase quickly with the UGBs while 'duck' sorties in an Su-34 (presumably to either clear targets over a very wide area and/or to quickly dispatch of the railguns). Second phase was similarly easy because it's only MiG-31's that you have to contend with. 3rd phase when you can target the railguns is where common sense is thrown out of the window (that or his greed to get MVP just took over).

Instead of using the Su-34 for what it was good for he proceeds to destroy all but one railgun. This is now worse in an 8-player beginners welcome room than it is with CPUs flying around because they will aim for the railgun thanks to the relatively high points it offers and the damn AWACS guy urging you to "destroy Stonehenge". As you can guess by now the final railgun indeed gets destroyed with ~75% of the optional targets still active and we end with a B rank...

Lesson of the story? Don't sortie with a duck, especially during a special raid with beginners around. If you have to however make sure to message every single player about how to get S prior to the sortie if you can.

I don't understand, how come all of you have top-tier planes?

And how many stocked fuel do you all have?
Top-tier planes ? I have only 2... my Su-34 Fullback and my favorite, the Su-47 Berkut.
Well, if they can be considered as top-tier.
I do not have any other at the moment (Su-47, Su-35, F-22 or T-50 or F-15-SMTD...)

And for the stocked fuel, I currently have 44 units...
I've spent a whole month playing with supplied fuel only, that's why. I'm more on Destiny now and I'm going to start DriveClub (PS+ edition), so I think I'm going to stay on supplied fuel for a while and store even more stocked fuel units...

LVL 8 Pixy (armored tank, with stealth, high defense and HPAA missiles)
LVL 7 Black Hornet (air-to-ground cleaner, with LASM more oriented to sink ships)
LVL 3 Yellow 13 (future TDM death-machine, high-end maneuverability and QAAM)
LVL 9 Typhoon (air superiority king, high speed and 6MAA for multiple air-to-air engagements)
LVL 7 Zipang (Wardog emblem placeholder, waiting until they do again the WD tournament)
LVL 5 Stripes (multirole interceptor, standard missiles to the max and FAEBs for random ground raids)
LVL 3 Morgan (currently unused)
LVL 7 Gold Falcon (low-spec TDM sleeper, good maneuverability, missiles to the max possible, QAAM)
LVL 5 Gripen (Stonehenge destroyer, high defense spec, extinguisher and stealth, equipped with rocketpods)

I play since the day one, done lots of sorties, forced sortie+contracts during some tournaments, never used (unless rare special raid missions) stocked fuel outside tournaments I was really competing.
I'm placed around 6K/7K place using every single supplied fuel received, not going for top 1K but seems like I can grab a top 10K spot at the end without using stocked!
I found strange they didn't released the Area 88 Emblems...
