It's been wierd lately, every room I join with a 2100-2300 MR host is full of guys in the 1400-1600 range.

I have seen some people have a room full of players with a 1000 point difference before!

I will admit that when I am doing challenges with a low level airplane I will leave low MR players in. I did the Su-27 challenge last night and my plane is only level 1, so when a couple of 1500's showed up, I let them stay in. I finished near the bottom.

The MR system is less than perfect, but it does at least give you a general idea. You do see lots of different things however, from 1400 MR people letting most people in but kicking out anybody over say 1900, to people in the 1900s kicking out anybody under 1800. My favorites are of course the people who set up a no-restrictions room at 1850 MR and kick out anybody who joins over 1700.

The WWII plane event of course mixed things up again so now I'm back up well over 1800 and will proceed to get my butt kicked for a while until it drops back down to the mid-low 1700s.

I usually only join low MR open rooms if I am either flying a brick or just really desperate for a sortie right this minute. It seems like most of the other people who come in way higher than the host just go ahead and fly their 2100-cost spaceships and F-35s anyway though. I almost never join rooms way above me simply because it's never any fun, I usually can't get to anything before it blows up and the game is over after 2 minutes even if I do.

Top 300 again, got all 4 classic Aces planes :mischievous:
What is the fastest plane in this game, and what is it's top speed?
It's hard to tell, but stat wise the MiG-31B should be the fastest plane in game, S++ in speed at level 15, it can even climb up lvl 20 so...
Top speed I dunno, my best should be the Mobius 1, with parts gets Speed S++ at level 10 and stock can reach S++ at level 13, will do a quick test once I do some sorties

I have a level 10 Mig-31B Gravia, I'll test the speed for you as soon as I get a chance in the next couple of days. As far as I can tell this jet has the highest base stat for speed of anything. Yes other jets go to higher levels, but theoretically you could use level cap upgrades on it.

@CallmeDan
this is probably my best plane in all category so I've tested the Mobius 1 LVL 10 with top speed part LL, the hybrid part S (accelleration and top speed) and 2 of the "handicap parts" pitch/roll - speed + (missing yaw - speed + since I don't have enough slots at the moment).
3674 km/h it's NEARLY the best top speed a Mobius 1 LVL 10 can reach with all the parts at a altitude of 12 km
3645 km/h it's the top speed without one of the handicap parts, 29 km/h less so if I'm guessing the plane lvl 10 should reach a maximum of 3703 km/h with all the possible parts installed, always at 12 km above the sea level, at 500 meters the plane is slower of course

Wow. We're hitting Blackbird speeds.

So I realized that in my tree, the F-14D Super Tomcat was available for some time. Is it worth using? I have a Level 7 F-14A.

Or should I make my way to the F-15C instead?

If you like the Tomcat, I would check and see if you have one of the Special aircraft like the Jolly Roger. Once I got that, I quit using the base F-14's.

It's funny you should predict 3703km/hr, as that is exactly what my Mig-31B Gravia reached (level 10, LL speed part and Enhanced Propulsion Engine fitted, I could have bought one of those "handicap parts" but thought it'd be a waste of money). That's almost mach 3.5 at 12000m, faster than a Blackbird if I'm not mistaken.

Well, official top speed of Blackbird was never released.. Edit: Most sources agree that highest attainable speed for the blackbird, including the variants, is Mach 3.6.

It's why the Raptor's top speed has always intrigued me. When you compare the thrust to weight ratio's of the F-22 and the SR-71, I sure have to wonder...

SR-71 was designed to be stealthy and fast, speed being it's best defense against SAMs. F-22 was designed around stealth alone, and whatever performance gains it gets from that design are merely a bonus, as it's agile enough to evade the missiles shot at it.. Yes, it has supercruise, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's Mach 3+ capable.

Worked pretty damn well, didn't it? When they tested the motors, they filled the cowlings etc with tennisballs to cushion the shock that would result from that motor blowing up, otherwise it would've broken windows quite far away..

In HAWX the SR-71 was available...the missiles were slower than the plane once fired...it was kinda imbarassing...
In Infinity this aircraft is pointless...it may be useful as long range interceptor, using weapons like SAAMs or LAAMs, you know...a heavy variant of a fighter, since we got bombers, we can have those too...

Indeed. Even if the F-22 was capable of reaching that velocity (we'll never know), I am pretty sure the stealth coatings on the airplane aren't.

Technically, if it looks like a Blackbird and fires missiles, then it's a YF-12, the supersonic interceptor variant of the SR-71. It never saw combat, but was an interesting concept. On a side note, I think it's hilarious that it was faster than it's own missiles, which just further proves the fact that it's only defense measure against missiles was to out-accelerate them.

Yep, my mistake, the plane in HAWX was the YF-12, too much agile actually...it was useful even in TDM

Currently debating how bad I want the spiffy MiG-21. After upgrading one level it would be "better" than mine, but it's nowhere near as cool as having a somewhat competitive vanilla version.

If I was going to be playing this game past next month I'd definitely want it, but since I won't have a PS3 soon I'm not that bothered.
