Hey Mij, Boycey, Cactass,

It's Copernicus_WRX here (Scribbles71 was my first username - and soon it will change again to OLR-Scribbles, so please accept friend request when it arrives).

Good to have you race with us on Friday night mate. Got some great shots of you and leewiiz having your battle late race, and lauded you with high praise in the race review.

Was reading the regs of your Championship last night, and yourself, Boycey, and Cactass have done some great work in getting it organised.
One comment I would like to add (just my two cents) is with regard to using PP over HP/Weight restrictions as governance for parity. And it goes a little something like this ..... :)
I honestly think you could have had the initial idea of the series with various road cars on a parity basis if you hadn't used the PP option.
You could bring all of those cars together to similar lap times by setting a maximum horsepower limit, and minimum weight limit. All it takes is a little testing of each with their respective starting (native) parameters, and determining which of each (HP/Weight) needs to be applied to the specific car to bring them all to parity.
PP limits have too much scope for the experienced tuner to get way ahead of the competition, e.g by turning down aero, adding weight, and working more on mechanical grip, the horsepower can be significantly increased which provides an advantage to any car on any track, regardless.
...... *in Forest Gump voice* ... and that's about all I have to say about that.

Anyway, it was great to have a driver of your calibre on Friday night, and I would personally be thrilled if you decided to run with us in the future, and that goes for you too, Boycey (I know we have had many a good afternoon session in your open lounge), and anyone else who would like to. The invite is open.
There's one race remaining in the Van Gizzy GT-R TC Championship, then a two week break. In that time it will be decided what we run next, and how we run it. For more info and input/feedback if you like, you can visit this thread.

Hope to see you over there.

RACE DEBRIEF

Hi gents there are a few things to address regarding last night’s race.

First of all I’d like to congratulate Trans Tasman-Racing on their 1-2 Finish.

Regarding lapped traffic, I’m a bit disappointed with how the lapped cars handled the leading cars. If you are lapped traffic and obviously slower LET THE FASTER CARS PAST. If your faster and your pulling away that’s fine keep driving, if your faster and trying to get back on the lead lap that’s fine go for a clean pass but if you're slower and you're lapped/getting lapped LET THE FASTER CAR PAST . I will start handing out penalties to guys not getting out of the way, all you’re doing is slowing the faster car down and your slowing yourself down too.

Regarding the Incident on lap 3 involving redness-63 and myself, I'm putting redness-63 on warning for the next round for letting his car roll onto the racing line after a spin and into an oncoming car. If he causes an incident next round there may be consequences.

Regarding the incident in the turn 1 braking zone on lap 27 involving xxV8NuTxx and myself. I will take no further action as xxV8NuTxx out braked himself and tried to avoid a collision but unfortunately couldn't avoid it.

I’m putting myself on warning regarding tyre regulations; I used too many sets of softs due to pitting for damage and because I was a bit angry I hadn't noticed I put another set of soft tyres on, but that doesn't excuse me. If I break tyre regulations again next round there may be consequences.

redness-63 did less than 4 laps before receiving damage on his first and second set of softs and therefore did not break regulations by putting new sets on.

I’d also like to give boycey and SJ 5 points each for turning up and starting but getting disconnected during the race.

I’d like to thank everyone for turning up(frutti was at a 50th) but at the end of the race I must say I was a bit disappointed with myself and a few others, I don’t want to have to write a debrief this big again guys, KEEP IT CLEAN.

If anyone has any questions or arguments about penalties, warnings etc. you are welcome to discuss them with me in a PS3 chat room.

Regarding the Incident on lap 3 involving GT5BOYCEY, redness-63 and myself(after unfortunately getting tangled up in the aftermath of the incident), I’m putting GT5BOYCEY on warning for the next round for not giving redness-63 enough racing room causing him to spin. I’m also putting redness-63 on warning for the next round for making no attempt to stop his car rolling onto the racing line and into my car. If either of these two cause an incident next round there may be consequences.

Regarding the incident in the turn 1 braking zone on lap 27 involving xxV8NuTxx and myself. I will take no further action as xxV8NuTxx out braked himself and tried to avoid a collision but unfortunately couldn’t avoid it.

Points and charts adjusted.

how do you use the files cac? do you just download them onto a usb and copy it onto your ps3 and play it on gt5?

A little simplistic, but close.

1. Download (on PC)
2. Unpack/unzip on PC (just run exe file)
Creates a folder called BCES00569-RPLxxx (where xxx is a replay number eg. 004)
3. Copy folder to usb/ext HD and place it here (eg. /PS3/SAVEDATA/BCES00569-RPLxxx) *NB use uppercase
4. Transfer usb/ext HD to PS3
5. In PS3 XMB menu
"GAME" column
"Saved Data Utility (PS3tm)" folder
Open up usb/ext HD and highlight the BCES00569-RPLxxx folder
Press Triangle button, and select Copy (copy from usb -> PS3)
6. Load up GT5
7. Go to Replay Theater
8. Select the Import Replay to GT5 button
9. Select the BCES00569-RPLxxx file

You now have the replay. Easy once you've done it before.

PS. usb/ext HD - MUST be FAT32 format, and first primary partition on the device.

Good morning Gentlemen,

I will do my best to keep this Simple and Honest.

I am removing myself from the ACS Championship Series.

50% PSN is just not good enough to give up my Saturday nights.

20% Low quality racing. E.g. People pushing way too hard for an endurance race with full damage on. Mij said it perfectly, lap cars, ect.

10% My Fiancée.

10% I may not be qualified to be a ‘Steward’ in a ‘Championship’ on ‘GT5’.

5% Bad Sportsman Ship. E.g. Not letting people slip stream on lap 1-30 of a 35 lap race????? I understand doing this at the end of a race... But seriously?????

5% The supposed incident from last night. I cannot get the replay to work, but my recollection of it as a listed ‘Race Steward’ is this...
The lead car has right of way and track position.
I still left enough room.
I did not touch Red nor did Red touch me.
ALL parties should be spoken with in the future before warnings are published.

Sorry to Mij for pulling out, please understand the percentages above.

Lastly... Thank you to Jasr for trying to get me up to speed for Series Racing and Stewarding. I clearly need more experience in Championship racing on GT5.
Also... Thank you Cactass for the MASSIVE amount of time you put into any series you get involved in.

Thank you for the races gentlemen, I look forward to racing with you all again in private or public rooms.

Sorry to hear you're pulling out boycey, I'll send you a message via psn later with a quick question. :)

Sorry to hear you're pulling out Boyce. If racing is creating some friction at home that's completely understandable. Family always first. If you can come to diplomatic solution there I urge you to reconsider.

As we all know (and have experienced), there has been some recent issues with the psn. I would suggest some of it's attributed to the high traffic during Aussie school holidays. I think will see it settling down as the students return to school in the coming week. The other issues you mentioned are all important but also managable in my view. I think this series will be a bit of a learning process for all and everyone will continue to get better racing under these regulations.

Why not give round three a crack and see if there is some improvement. Again be sorry to see you go mate as you're a great competitor and a skillful driver. I think I can speak for everyone in saying you'd be very much missed mate.
Cheers,
Jas

Hey guys
I apologise for being a lapped car and getting in everyone's way...
Sorry toivo and mij2003 and anybody else i got in the way of.

NEXT time i'll quit the race and go to bed.

Cheers redness-63

Hey guys I should be able to make the next round, just a question about tires, do you have to do a minimum of 5 laps on all sets or 5 laps on all compounds?

If you can help it try not to quit, i doubt you will get lapped that much again but if you do get lapped just move over and once the person is past you can carry on racing as you were.

Hey guys I should be able to make the next round, just a question about tires, do you have to do a minimum of 5 laps on all sets or 5 laps on all compounds?

You have to do a minimum of 5 laps on each set of tyres and you have to use every compound of racing tyres in the race.

That would mean 7 race pitstops??? At a minimum of 5 laps per set, that won't work at grand valley that means 1 set won't be used?

Not quite 7, only 2 pitstops minimum ;). If you start on the hard(R1) compound, pit on Lap 5 and switch to medium(R2) compound, do another 5 Laps and the switch to the soft(R3) compound. You can then finish the race without any more pit stops.
You don't have to use up all available tyres, only each compound must be used.

That's a relief, I'm glad I got that sorted, I'd be pitting every 5 laps lol

Hi gents, I just wanted to inform everyone that TDZ will replace boycey on my team.
Hopefully psn will be better this week due to aussie school holidays being over(in vic, i don't know what they are everywhere else).

Last edited:
Amen to that! Yeah all the holiday makers listened to me sunday arvo after telling em to "relocate" in the usual aussie way lol, (I'm a south aussie)

If need be I coudl rustle up a team mate, but they wouldn't be australian,

Also all servers were having issues over the weekend, not just here, a few series I run in had an issue were the race has been postponed for a week because they couldn't open a lobby for 4 hours,

Thanks for the hospitality mij,

You're on my team TDZ, I'll send you the name of the paint you need(I don't have the paint chip). If you don't have it I'll get someone to send it to you. Could you please make your car number 8 or 80 in number type 1. :)

ACS Round 3 Race Briefing | Rome Circuit

Hey gents, a couple of things to go through now to save me some typing on Saturday night.

Everyone please remember this is a street circuit so there is almost no margin for error(I'm looking at you turn 6 & 7:grumpy:), GO EASY ON THE FIRST LAP. Any silly behaviour on the first lap causing a pile up may incur a grid penalty.

As per usual, please stay in the pit exit line(the exit line is very short so just be careful if there are any cars coming) and when coming out remember cars out on track have right of way. As the pit entry is right after the final turn try to make sure people can tell you entering pits to avoid any nose to tail accidents.

I would like to let everyone know that swerving on the straights and other forms of bad sportsmanship are highly frowned upon in this series, you are allowed to change lines once on the straight (e.g. when defending into a corner, if you move to the inside line you must keep that line, in other words you do not move back across in front of the other car.)

Track Corners and Passing

If going for a pass at turn 1 & 2 please be extremely cautious, as any passes here will start under heavy braking accidents can happen due to understeer during braking, usually caused by going in too hot.

Attempting a pass at turn 5 is the same general idea as 1 & 2, you will be starting the pass under heavy braking. If your'e not sure if you can make the corner DO NOT GO FOR THE PASS. Be patient and wait for a better opportunity.

PASSING THROUGH TURN 6 & 7 IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
After turn 5 please form a single file as passing going down the hill into turn 6 & 7 is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Turn 6 & 7 is much too narrow for two citroens to go through side by side.

Coming out of turn 9 can be a good place to slingshot a pass into turn 10 but it is a tricky manoeuvre so be EXTREMELY careful we don't want any accidents.

Looking forward to Saturday night gents, hopefully we will have a full grid for the entirety of the race
