Isn't that a bit extreme? Your country would turn upside-down if every criminal were tortured and then given the death penalty.

That's absolutely horrible. I personally think torture should be avoided at all costs, though, the death penalty is more suitable in my opinion.
I can't imagine this guy being sane. He must be ill before he can perform such an act.

I'm not really sure how the man would be acting like if he was ill. If he was conscious of what he was doing then I think he should be equally punished. If he wasn't then I'm not sure what is justifiable.
If anyone is mentally ill in such a way, I would imagine they would recognise this, and they should seek help.

That's assuming he was actually ill, though.

If he was put in prison for the remainder of his life, then I would imagine it would be much expense that the taxpayer would be ultimately paying to keep him in there.

I would imagine a death sentence would be expensive too, though. Maybe it would be reasonable for the family involved to decide his punishment (within reason, obviously)?

The whole thing is disgusting. I wish it weren't real and I can't imagine the horror that her family is living through right now. It appears that he confessed so this looks pretty cut and dry but I suspect an insanity plea of some sort. Regardless of how that plays out, I don't think that this man will see life outside of shackles for the rest of his days.

Death is never the answer, in my opinion. I don't feel it is right to end someone's life, be it they did something horrible or not. Just dump the man in prison for the rest of his life.

See, that's the thing. Are you willing to pay $20,000 (~£12,000) worth of tax (per year) to keep ONE guy in jail? I'd say put him in exile in the North Pole or something.

A nice thought but it's a necessary expense in my opinion. I don't think the death penalty should ever come in to play except in the case of serial killers. Pickton, BTK, green river killer... Yeah they could all be given the death penalty as far as I'm concerned.

Eye for an eye doesn't mean because he killed somebody he must be killed either. It means that everything has consequences. If he killed somebody he pays for it and here are that means you go to prison for life.

If he was conscious of what a cruelty he was doing at the scene of his murder, with the intention of how the girl would react against his molestation, he should be given a death penalty or sentence of imprisonment for several years for rehabilitation. If he was so delirious as to recall what he was doing then, we are provided with no clue of decision whatever to do for the criminal.
