Amazing sound mod find!

Dude this sounds like A**. Thanx for reminding me why i never booth that system up anymore. The only thing positive i can say is that it looks great on track(not minding shadow flickering, excessive blooming effect). Too me it is not really immersive.
So you're telling me, You don't play your entire Playstation 3 system due to some sounds in GT5....?

Sounds like he just boosted the mid frequencies a bunch to get that nice raspy sound. I should probably do that but then I 'd always have to be switching it back again when I wanted to watch or listen to anything else.

I didn't adjust anything my camera sucks that's all, you can barely hear the sub that's the most important aspect of the sound. Just as Gus said YouTube videos are pointless they cannot display true sound from the SS. @ king i'm not shocked at all

My receiver (Yamaha RX-A710) has parametric EQ adjustments for each speaker. It's so in depth I wouldn't know where to begin. The great thing is, if I can utilize this feature, I can save it as a profile just for GT5.

What needs to be adjusted to make it sounds "great"?

Only for blueray's these days. And not ONLY because of some sounds. The whole game needs a revamp. My list

* The whole menu and interaction design is just terrible.:ouch:
* Paint chips. why? just why? because all the colornames sounds so 'Cool':ouch:
* Garage mode is just terrible why not make it like the arcade or older gt games.:ouch:
* Weird inconsistancies in the physics, Slow, high speed, Arcade, Online and offline physics??:ouch:
* Standards. I cant stand them i would love to have more converted to Premium, but knowing Pd i'm not gonna bother waiting on Gt6 because once lets say the Rufs or will be premiums we will be in the year 2014 in the best case scenario :ill:
* Frameratedrops, shadows and aliasing. :grumpy:
*Sounds. Even the Aventador sounds terrible while they said they would 'look' into the sounds en engine noise specificly. only the startup noise is good in the garage once you select your car. gotta give em that.
* Chase cam...Why.. why? cant they make it more fluent or just allow me too adjust it.

👍👍👍👍

Thats my main problem with the game. And the ridiculous narrow field of view which kills the sense of speed 👎

It's terrible for corners because you cant see what the car and tyres are doing.
it was updated but it still 🤬.

Yeah !!! I like the one from GT PSP because it's dynamic !!! And also they got to widen the field of view because you feel like driving in slow motion in the chase cam... And it should be more close to the car. It's too far away! You feel like driving an RC Car..

I didn't know people did competitive driving in chase came... :yuck: God bless you guys, it'a the worst view in my opinion to race in.

So the capture card I saw with the two ports for the opt wont work with the PS3 because it will not recognize it?

Hauppauge - HD Personal Video Recorder Thanks Torque ;)

Edit that's actually the wrong one there is one where I read you can hook up your surround and PS3 at the same time.

Nevermind, you're not following me. Not worth explaining.

How many bands per channel?

I'd suggest lowering 600-1000hz slightly as well as anything over 10khz and under 30hz.
Boost the 30-150hz and 3000hz to 8000hz.

Be ready to tweak, hopefully your EQs can be bypassed for other applications.

And make sure to switch off any 'Enhancements' / DRC/Volume limiters.

Exactly. Imagine driving a real car if it sounded that loud and distorted in the cockpit, it'd drive you mad. In reality many are loud but they're smooth and clear.

GT sound isn't great but this isn't the problem nor the solution.

I agree. Also, with sounds like in the video, it would be impossible to play GT5 for any longer period of time. Not to mention what the other people in the house would think... Maybe it would be tolerable if you put a helmet over your head.

It just shows you what people think are real good sound. There is many people who want hollywood sounds in GT, but I don't I love the sound. PD just need to get the cars that sound completely off on the right track and keep tweaking other cars like they did in this update to get better sounds.

in reality GT's LFA is actually alot closer then Forza4, Seeing as GT5 actually sounds like a LFA

Do you even own Forza 4? Have you even played it before? On the same set of speakers, the LFA in Forza sounds miles more realistic. That said, both could use improvement.

My favorite line off all time... Ughhh

Listen.

If you are all gonna start ranting on which sounds are better than I am going to have to ask this thread to be locked.

Last I checked you weren't at liberty to tell members where they can and cannot post, that liberty is reserved only by the staff.

Don't do it again.

This is a screenshot from the .pdf manual regarding manual EQ settings. Not very detailed info :(

Pretty straight forward, select a band (lo to hi, L to R), select which FREQ will be affected, then gain down to cut and up to boost, Q i think is how the surrounding FREQs are affected, low Q = wider range hi Q = narrower, more focused range in relation to selected FREQ.

Dude i think all my points are valid points of wich i'm sure i'm not the only gt player who has those issues.

Gran turismo is amaaazing.. happy now?

This looked like an interesting thread, and started out OK, I have a few opinions on this (i'm in the GT5-sounds-OK camp) but sadly the rest of the thread really degenerated into a puerile schoolyard argument. I guess that's why it's slipped down the front page some, and damn, I just bumped it =(

Anyways GT sound has been discussed before, including the effects of artificial overdrive/distortion, which is basically what is going on in the OP and what is used in mostly all arcade racing games, and (much as I like it), Forza. It's not realistic.

PS. I do wonder when some people say they've heard an F430 etc etc. because much as I like them, many such cars sound appalling when really revved. People really do have this romantic, idealistic idea of how cars sound derived mostly from, you guessed it, video games and Youtube.

I have to disagree, I've already heard many cars in real life, I drive an Honda Civic with VTEC myself. And when the VTEC kicks in the small 120HP car, it sounds more nasty than most cars in GT5. And thats a fact!
And the VTEC sound in GT5 is barely noticeable! And if you hear something which is supposed to be a VTEC it sounds more like a hair dryer kicks in yo! ...

Agree with you buddy 👍 it's some immature folks in this thread so it's really hard to debate.

You've got a VTEC on your icon. Can you name me any proper VTEC sound in the game??? The only car I know which comes somehow close is the standart Intergra Type R with Racing exhaust. It's sad to admit but reality...

What sound system do you own if you don't mind me asking? All my Honda sound like Honda's I'm currently running Samsung 7.1 and while it does not change the samples it makes the sound of GT5 really come alive. Engine sounds comes out of my 3 front speakers exhaust comes form my 2 rear speakers.

True. One reason I hate Shift 2.The cars sound good for the first 5mins but after hours of racing its just a headache.
