“Here's something, and something significant,” Stivers says. “This isn’t just a new office in the State Department or a report. This is an import ban, more or less. This is a big deal.”
I agree with this. RvW was almost the perfect issue for Republicans...when it was untouchable. They could rally and campaign around it until the cows came home and know that they wouldn't actually have to do anything about it that would be politically difficult. Roe vs Wade was honestly a singular gift for the GOP for decades. Now that abortion is touchable, they actually have to face the consequences of implementing anti-abortion laws. Carefully calibrated law is not something the current crop of GOP legislatures is particularly interested in or good at. I don't think anyone needs to be told that this will not poll well with centrist/suburban/moderate America - exactly the folks that Biden & the Dems need to keep on their side.Politically speaking the overturning of Roe v. Wade is terrible for Republicans.
I said a while ago, I have no dog in this fight. Some of you might realize how true that statement was after my more recent posts.
The midterms were pretty much a sure thing for the Republicans before this decision. Now I am not so sure.
I'll be interested to see whether QI is granted or denied.Cop beaten to death by other cops during cop training exercise teaching cops how to deal with unruly civilians:
Slain LAPD officer was beaten in training meant to 'simulate a mob,' mother claims
The mother of Houston Tipping, 32, filed a notice of claim against the city Friday, alleging wrongful death, assault and battery, and other civil rights violations. Such claims are often a precursor to lawsuits.www.latimes.com
And really people are going to care more about the economy than anything. If inflation is too high and people aren't making enough money to cover things like rent, food, etc. They're really not going to care about something like abortion. They're going to gravitate to whatever candidate gives them hope that their day-to-day activities will improve.People have short memories and won’t care as much about this stuff a year down the road. I’m talking about your average moderate/undecided. People stopped caring that much about BLM, people will accept no abortions as fact soon enough. I’m not saying it’s right, what’s happening is completely ****ed up (and looks to get worse soon), but that’s what will happen. It may hurt republicans in 2022 elections, but won’t matter much for 2024 where it really counts.
There's a point of view that holds the Fed squarely responsible for its failure to live up to its primary responsibility for price stability. I've heard one admonition on CNBC that to bring down an inflation rate of 8%, it may be necessary to raise the prime rate to 9%.If the US hits an actual recession, the Democrats will get absolutely slaughtered in the election even if it's not entirely their fault.
In ordinary circumstances with inflation this high, raising the federal funds rate to dampen demand seems to make sense. But this is not normal circumstances. Prices are not sky high because of abnormal demand, they are sky high because of supply shocks - that is to say making things more expensive isn't really helping the problem. Various industries honestly probably need cheaper money, not more expensive money, to alleviate supply chain issues. Nobody is going out of there way to borrow money at 7+% to build a chip manufacturing plant or new oil refinery. I'm not sure the fed has made the right move here. There's a point of view the holds the Fed squarely responsible for its failure to live up to its primary responsibility for price stability. She has turned hard right, including the currently fashionable right-wing attacks on drag performers.
Richard Stevens, a drag performer under the name of Barbra Seville, has performed for her and her children in drag several times. They were close friends. Her anti-drag stance is pure hypocrisy. He has the receipts.
First by showing they were friends.
Showing that she invited him to her private Facebook page and had conversations with him.
Showing this wasn't casual, they were close friends.
They went to parties together with Stevens in drag.
Kari Lake's response to the images that show her hypocrisy? Double down.

Kari Puddles is right trash.
Absolute ****ing garbage.
Absolute ****ing garbage.
"Kinda sucks" doesn't really cover it. America has lost its ****ing mind. Come apart at the seams. Gone off the deep end. Jumped the shark. It's "Exceptional" all right ... in a really bad way.Damn, America kinda sucks honestly.
Here's some more of them doing an insane level of mental gymnastics, with 2000 mules popping up quite a bit.You made me watch Fox News. I've become radicalized! Seriously, though, I noticed she brought up 2000 Mules because of course she did. Just for fun, read the Wikipedia talk pages for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:2000_Mules The people trying to defend it (which is not even the point of the talk page) are among the most bat**** insane people on Earth.
I'm convinced his legs aren't the only thing not working.
Those are some diabolical mental gymnastics on display. It's unfortunate how many people with a lack of critical thinking skills will sadly fall for it
Like the Texas electrical grid under his administration.I'm convinced his legs aren't the only thing not working.
As a natural-born Floridian who has had to deal some borderline-unbearable heat for the last couple months, you have my deepest sympathies.Like the Texas electrical grid under his administration.
Oh, I'm good, though I appreciate the consideration. As a natural-born Floridian who has had to deal some borderline-unbearable heat for the last couple months, you have my deepest sympathies.
I was thinking his own electrical grid, but that too. Luckly I'm on the coast so i atleast get a breeze at night.Like the Texas electrical grid under his administration.
Ghislaine Maxwell found guilty of five out of six charges related to the grooming, trafficking, and coercion of underage girls for sex with celebrity clients...
... which is almost an irrelevance at this point. Get the evidence that convicted her out in the public domain and get the celebrity clients named, arrested, and charged.
Who do you have in mind?20 years for Ghislaine Maxwell, which seems laughably small...
... but she's now been imprisoned for grooming and trafficking kids. So where are the people she trafficked them to?
Where? I'd say a few are hidden in plain sight. So where are the people she trafficked them to?
It's almost unbelievable that she didn't try to cooperate with authorities in exchange for less chargers or more lenient sentencing. What possible reason could she have for protecting the names of the people involved? I just don't get it.
The woman isn't young, so 20 years is a huge price to pay (potentially) for silence. It's not life in prison, but it's damn close - that is to say don't think I believe she stayed silent to protect her own skin. I'm also certain that the US government could protect her if that was necessary. The witness protection program exists and is effective. I do wonder if there is somebody she cares about that has been threatened by someone in a fail-deadly sort of way.Ok not to get too tin foil hat or anything but... being murdered in prison is what comes to mind. The possible connections here are all over the place, including Trump.
