If amongst the outrage the protest provokes honest and open debate and discussion then I'm sure it isn't a complete and total waste of time regardless of how heavily the participating athletes and teams are hit in the pocket.
What I enjoy most is the moaning and whimpering sounds coming from the billionaire owner's boxes. Call it schadenfreude.

Aren't the conservatives being precious little SJW snowflakes in this instance?

Don't be silly, only liberals get offended. When conservatives are upset about something, it's actually

consumers [making] a decision about where to invest their time based on principle

What's the difference? Why does the meaning of the word "offended" suddenly change depending on the offended (or not offended, sorry Johnny) person's political leanings? I haven't a clue.

Call it schadenfreude.
Is that German for "postmodernism?"

Yeah, no, I know it's not. And "inb4" you suggest the social convention wherein an individual or group finds enjoyment in another's misfortune*
is indicative of postmodernism's presence.

*Edit to include this important word that was somehow left out.

You guys are talking about the President saying people that kneel shouldn't be in the country and how ridiculous that is?

Negatory. The president wasnt talked about in this topic and no one here said anything about deporting kneelers.
Or I misread that and still no, we are talking about the NFLs decision to fine kneelers.

Ah okay. I saw something on my Facebook feed a little while ago so it may be too fresh. He also cancelled the meeting with North Korea with a letter that reads like it was written by a 4th grader.

Dotini doesn't speak for all, but he for damn sure speaks for enough that I can perfectly understand the NFL performing an massive tone-deaf course correction after they (as an overall entity) did try last year to mostly ignore it and let teams handle it themselves. That ceased to be an option when Trump shot his mouth off on the issue. Whether or not Republicans are being hypocritical babies over the kneeling issue to begin with is irrelevant when money is what actually talks and a decent hunk of teams are in places that wouldn't necessarily, say, take the news of Kaepernick playing for them in stride.

Which would be fine if the comment had been limited to the NFL, it wasn't.

"The spectator pays to see a show, a professional and well produced performance. It has a start, a middle and an end. He doesn't want his experience interrupted by protests and politics. If it is, he will damn well go do something else."

His comment was pretty clearly an attempt to justify the analogy he was trying to use for the people in this thread who are only now learning of the NFL's new rule; and something I've absolutely heard people say and write in numbers I haven't cared to count over the past two years. To be frank, his post never read like him projecting, since some of us have more context for the situation the NFL has found themselves in beyond when it was posted in this thread a few hours ago.

How to Protest 101 right in @Dotini's home town. Were you there in the background:sly:? No burning stuff, no violence, no profanity, no stupid signs. Make some noise, be heard, get noticed, one unified voice with a real leader. Take the mic, make your point and get the hell out of there and back to work. I have to admit I got a lump in my throat when the camera panned around at :52.

This second video shows the leader of the Iron Workers taking the mic:

At one point Kshama Sawant says, "if we fight against each other the bosses win." Sounds like a protester in a mob scene from Atlas Shrugged or bad dialogue from a commie propoganda film:lol:

And none of that seems to be hindered by thos.non disruptive protest. You don't have to think about why they kneel you can just ignore that part now can't you. (You, as in the people who care)

Or is this a part of the USA culture I'm missing again?

I finally saw what you were talking about. Yeah.... Trump.... he sure does know how to play to his base. Thankfully, this is still the United States of America and not The Peoples Republic of Trump. His whims and dictates thankfully don't just magically become law and policy. Not instantly anyway.

So I live on the south shore of Long Island and I'm starting to hear the jets fly over doing practice runs for the Jones Beach Memorial Day event. Is it weird that every time I hear one I have a quick passing thought of "what if that's not ours"?

It just means you harbor a healthy degree of paranoia--maybe not Alex Jones healthy, but you can just guzzle more fluoridated tap water.

It's not weird, it's unfortunate! Clearly America needs more Nukes to reassure it's population!

You should move to Seattle, and start eating seafood... it would totally chill you out...

It's not so much that I wonder if it's not ours as much as I wonder "is it the one that flies over and bombs Manhattan or DC or something". Not necessarily nukes but just in general. Thankfully we live in a country that other countries think thrice about invading/attacking on home soil

I'll be honest with ya. When ever I hear loud noises, something that likely just like a dumpster getting bashed at a construction site or something along that line, I get the same sorta paranoia.

I used to love Roseanne (the show) as a kid but Barr herself has seemingly become more and more mad. Here's today's roundup including having her show dropped from ABC.

Aside from the headline story she makes the comment that "No President should go from the White House to producing big media for public consumption". As a Trump supporting I wonder how she feels about that in reverse or how she'll feel when Trump inevitably goes back on the TV after his term(s).

straight from the horses mouth ""It's an unholy alliance. Leave show biz 2 professionals," she wrote, adding that "going from show biz 2 WH is OK"
Bill Maher recently ripped her up on his show as well. Its not been a good start to the year for Ms. Barr
