When you have no idea that the Constitution protects protests:

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Protester - Protected explicitly under 1st amendment, unless they are doing something illegal
Anarchist - Vague, but pretty much covered under 1st amendment freedom of expression, unless they are doing something actually illegal
Agitator - Not necessarily illegal, but getting warmer. Again, kind of depends on if they are doing something illegal
Looter - Finally, something that is actually against the law!
Lowlife - I don't think it's necessarily illegal to be a lowlife (see above)

So out of the 5 general groups he singled out for cracking down on, only one of them is within the governments purview to do anything about. Do you think Protesters, Anarchists, Agitators, and Lowlifes should be arrested for being those things?

I periodically get the sense that Trumpkins are the butt of an elaborate joke, specifically when their compulsion to explain and/or defend the idiotic and/or inflammatory things he says ends up making them look stupid.

Oh, I dunno, I'd say some of the people in that photo could be fair game for Oklahoma's finest if they show up in Tulsa.

"protesting while throwing gang signs"
"protesting while wearing provocatory apparel"

Let's lock 'em up and throw away the key, I say.

Actually the Clinton guy (whose shirt hasn't exactly aged well in the post-Trump era) was supposed to be suing NBC for $53m after they allegedly sent people to beat him up for showing up to a TV audience. Wonder how that went.

Censorship: Having a message full of 🤬 (from someone frequently posting messages full of 🤬) on a private service have an addendum added to say that it may not be factual.

Not censorship: The federal government openly threatening people contemplating their 1st Amendment rights because it doesn't like the message being protested; after not doing so for people exercising their 1st Amendment rights a month ago because it did like that message.

I think it’s pretty clear that the message for those who are committing crimes in non-democratic run cities that the same tolerance level of destruction isn’t going to be allowed.

It’s sometimes amusing how deep some people read into a tweet.

I'm not reading anything into it, I'm reading exactly what Trump wrote and he wrote "protesters". Protesting is completely legal and a right granted by the Constitution. The president, nor any other government official, can legally do anything to stop it because doing so is a violation of the First Amendment. Lumping protesters in with actual criminals shows that Trump considered protesters criminals, which they can't be because protesting isn't legal.

Honestly, I hope more people turn up to protest Comrade Trump than to see him. Everyone should exercise their First Amendment rights if they want to.

If protesting is legal, why did they get teargassed in front the white house?

Manhattan US Attorney refuses to resign despite DOJ ouster.

The Justice Department abruptly announced late Friday night that it would replace the U.S. attorney in Manhattan who oversaw probes into several allies of President Trump, though the federal prosecutor said he had no plans to resign.

The Justice Department (DOJ) said in a press release that it is replacing Geoffrey Berman, the powerful prosecutor for the Southern District of New York whose office ran the probe that sent Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to prison and is investigating his current personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani.

"I thank Geoffrey Berman, who is stepping down after two-and-a-half years of service as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. With tenacity and savvy, Geoff has done an excellent job leading one of our nation's most significant U.S. Attorney's Offices, achieving many successes on consequential civil and criminal matters," said Attorney General William Barr.

However, Berman pushed back and said he was not "stepping down" until a presidentially-appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate, according to a statement from his office. He also said he found out he was being replaced when he read the Justice Department's press release.

"I learned in a press release from the Attorney General tonight that I was 'stepping down' as United States Attorney. I have not resigned, and have no intention of resigning, my position, to which I was appointed by the Judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate. Until then, our investigations will move forward without delay or interruption. I cherish every day that I work with the men and women of this Office to pursue justice without fear or favor — and intend to ensure that this Office's important cases continue unimpeded."
-- Geoffrey S. Berman, United States Attorney, Southern District of New York

Barr, who did not provide a reason as to why Berman was being replaced, said that Jay Clayton, the current chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would be nominated for the position. Craig Carpenito, currently the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, will fill Berman's role in an acting capacity effective July 3.

The replacement is likely to spark further claims from Democrats in Washington that the president is seeking to politicize the Justice Department and remove figures who are either critical of him or investigating people in his orbit.

Berman's office has prosecuted several Trump associates, including Cohen, who was imprisoned for campaign finance violations and lying to Congress. Berman recused himself from directly overseeing Cohen's case for reasons that were never made clear.

Federal prosecutors in Berman's office are also reportedly investigating if Giuliani, who is known to have a number of associates abroad, failed to register with the government as a foreign agent.

Beyond Cohen and Giuliani, Berman's office also subpoenaed Trump's inaugural committee over an investigation into potential illegal contributions from foreigners and charged former Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.), a Trump ally, with insider trading.

Berman was appointed to his role in January 2018 to replace former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was ousted for defying Trump's request for him to purge the office of Obama appointees.
TL;DR -- The guy nominated by Trump is going after Trump associates, legally (literally), and Trump is having Barr get rid of him for disloyalty. Barr blew his wad prematurely, announcing a decision to resign that the individual never actually made.

This post from a "normal person" in the article's comments made me chuckle.

But it wasn't nearly as funny as a response to Berman's tweet by dumbass Trumpkin (the Department of Redundancy Department approves) and "normal person" Mike Cernovich, a guy who pushed the Pizzagate myth that alleged a child sex trafficking ring supported by prominent Democrats was run from the basement of a pizza parlor.

Trumpism, man.

So, I'm listening to Trump's quasi-rally in Tulsa...

What the actual 🤬? Talking about this 'Chinese Virus' among other racist names for COVID-19; asserting that testing should stop; complaining about the ramps at West Point Academy; scapegoating the media/Biden/Jorgensen/protesters/whomever for the apparently low attendance...

As @TexRex would say...

I mean...

Trumpism, man.
November can't come soon enough.

I don't even understand the point of incumbents holding political rallies. Everyone in America knows who Trump is, it's not like he needs to get his name out there.

Also, the fact he's not calling COVID-19 the "Kung Flu" is greatly disappointing to me.

Except he absolutely does. It's pathological.

I was wondering what he was getting at with the West Point ramble and then he complains about having to lift his hand 600 times. He has no idea what it means to be presidential. He's a freakin' joke of a joke. Unbelievable... oh wait, it's Trump...

Did anyone get a count of how many times he said "beautiful"?
