So that may explain the left to right sway feeling when driving the Evo X licence test? what if you drive an F1 car? Will it still be 900 degrees? I have mine set to off.

I noticed this too when going fast. I didn't check if adding deadzone got rid of it or not, but it was an annoying feeling. I think the fanatec wheels are more sensitive to information from the game than other wheels, or at least that is what i took from Fanatec dev's explanation in regards to gt5: p.

people post so much >_< so much reading to do

I thought the Gran Turismo games set the wheel rotation through software.

My understanding was that by manually setting the wheel rotation, then I overrode the automatic setting from the game.

Otherwise... What is the point of the off setting?

With a Fanatec wheel, you can set the steering ratio on the wheel (overriding the in game setting). I used 420 for the F1 car in Prologue. 720 for the NSX, and close to 900 for older road cars.

The OFF setting is exactly the same as setting the wheel to 900. Off just means, "game default setting".

The best way to settle this is if you can tune your car's steering lock to lock. For example, you set the wheel on 360 sen. ( for Formula 1) then in game you need to lower your steering setting (in GT5p quick tuning screen) from 50 to say 15, in order to have precise steering. I hope i have explained it correctly :-)

Not entirely necessary. You can fine tune if you wish, but it's not necessary in the least. It comes down to how sensitive you want your steering to be. I wouldn't recommend an in-game setting of 15, and a wheel setting of 360. However, if for some odd reason that feels good to you....... More power to ya. It's why the settings are there.

;)

You must be one of the lucky ones. No updates for me at all and USPS received by shipping information on the 17th of November, three days before you. The fact that your update was last night doesn't give me any hope as mine hasn't changed.

If you haven't already done so, reply back to the email with the PDF invoice (not the tracking # emails) and tell them what happening.

DR, that was just an example. In rfactor i use 360 deg. steering, and lock to lock if between 15 to 19 deg. depending on a car. Downside with this settings is inability to correct to much oversteer or drift, on the upside, tyres are less overheating and less wearing off.

I've sent an email to every single person I can and no one can tell me anything. After going through this I don't think I would ever tell someone to buy from Fanatec. Logitech may not make a better product but at least you have re-course instead of relying on the poor support of Fanatec and their distribution partners.

Well low and behold. Now my tracking was updated to show dispatched on the 25th. I am quite choked. They took my money on the 10th. Told me it was shipping on the 11th. Find out on the 17th that the email on the 11th wasn't really a shipping notice (Fine print says it could take up to 1 week to actually ship). Now they are going to ship. On Novemeber 19th tracking states electronic info received and that's it. Corresponded with both Fanatec and their US distributor and got numerous responses. From they'll look into it to USPS's tracking system doesn't work. After some complaints get filed on this website all of a sudden USPS's tracking system magically starts working and my packages are dispatched on the 25th.

I can understand if you couldn't ship my package right away. If that's the case then tell me "we will ship your product as soon as we can and we won't charge your credit card until that time" That is the way internet businesses are suppose to be run and that is the standard that is expected.

I am really dissapointed that I have been misinformed and at times even lied to.

Fanatec you need to improve your service or you risk losing a substantial customer base.

As for this instance some kind of token of apology would go a long way to restoring my faith in your company.

Good to hear some are getting shipped out. Now someone address my complaints and send my stuff out.

I've sent emails to the distributors and I've even gone to the extent to even call them (though I keep getting voicemail). I've also emailed Fanatec and hopefully they do something.

They took my money on the 7th and I'm in this boat. So 20 days after I've payed my order has yet to be shipped out.

That's ridiculous. No way they should take your money until your order ships.

It's a good thing I'm going to the Grey Cup and won't be able to play GT5 until Tuesday. Otherwise I'd be pissed off all weekend about not having my wheel and stand to use.

Anyone got some good settings for the Porsche 911 Turbo S with GT5?

I'm finding it very frustrating trying to get it to feel right. When driving in a straight line I get these random force feedback jerks to each side and I lost control quite often because of it. If I set deadzone to 50% or higher it seems to help but it feels rubbish compared to forza 3 or any PC games.

Yeah, those are my thoughts as well. I'd expect this from a big box retailer (brick and mortar or online) but not a small company trying to make a name for themselves.

If I don't get a response from these people by Monday I'm just going to call Visa and tell them to stop payment on the order. I'd rather go with Logitech than give Fanatec any more of my money. It is absolutely absurd that 20 days after they took the money from me they have yet to send the order on it's way.

If they are just holding back orders and shipping them at the same time to save on cost then they either need to tell the customer this is their business practice or just charge more for shipping.

What firmware do you have installed, and what steering ratio are you using?

I use the latest firmware and 900 degrees. No problem with that. I had it in the prologue and GT 5 demo so I do think I know what you referr to.

btw I am bumping my previous question. How do you go on to as smoothly as possible enable the clutch prior to a race?

Hmmm... I'll have to do some testing later, but I have not noticed what you speak of. I'm using a deadzone setting of 10 or 20. Usually with a bit of Linearity as well. Maybe try that.

You just have to press down on the clutch to enable it. Unless I'm not understanding your question.

I thought you enable it by the triangle button? If it´s instead the clutch it would explain why I don´t get a 100 % success rate ;) I am not sure if you understood my post fully. That the FFB issues I had with the prolouge and GT 5 demo. It´s totally gone in the retail for me. I am positively surprised that the improvements in physics and ffb is so apparent. Well that is if you avoid the after thoughts of course :)

We Canadian potential customers request an immediate refund of shipping charges at least.

I just checked again the USPS and received the same message!

I wonder if our fellow Thomas is reading all of this, only fraudulent companies charge you before actual shipping takes place, also why we received emails confirming the dispatch of items whereas it was only a mere notification to the courier to pick up the items two weeks later or more?
We do not want Fanatec to be in this position because they are embarrassing us with other potential customers and you know how bad word of mouth can be spread.

It is customer service and the subsequent service delivery which can make or break the retailer, I hope Fanatec can learn from big box retailers who did not give a damn about their customers and now they are history.

Will escalate the matter and would contact Paypal this weekend.

Thanks Fanatec for the wonderful experience!

Wow some people need to breath and relax a bit. I ship stuff constantly as well receive stuff on a daily basis. USPS tracking sucks! Get use to it. I have had stuff come to me and then 3 days later the USPS tracking is finally updated. Have had customers as well pissing and moaning like you guys are that the USPS tracking is not updating. Guess what? It's USPS. Get use to it. I ship USPS because its the cheapest and definitely not for there tracking abilities. Really companies don't take your money until an item ships? BS. Come on people. Amazon takes my money the instant I push Submit Order. Same goes with Best Buy, Target, and Sears as well as many others. I don't think they are fraudulent companies.

@capt_aaa1
I can understand that you are upset but there is no need to threaten us or freak out. I told our sales team to take care of it with high priority and come back to you. I assume that you are already in contact with them.

If you read the other posts you'll notice that no one seems to know where their orders are. Like I've said before, Fanatec took my money and I paid on November 7th, 2010. As of today I have yet to receive anything. The order should be coming from the USA to Canada. Surely it doesn't take 20 days to travel, by air, from LA to Vancouver. Once in Canada Canada Post should take over the shipping but no one has any idea what's going on.

It's not just him. Please look into my order. I ordered on November 7th, 2010 and I don't have anything to show for it. Have someone from your sales team treat everyone else with high priority also.

New Xbox Wheel? New Xbox Wheel ! - Hint 7

Submitted by Thomas on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 09:09.

After getting so much positive feedback I don't want to dissapoint you and let you know that something nice is on the way.
We actually developed a new Xbox 360 compatible wheel and it is even on the way to USA and EU right at this moment.
Let me be mean and don't give you all the specs and pics right away. I will post several hints until you get the "full picture".
Hint 1: It is again the top of the line product at Fanatec
Hint 2: Just like the PWTS Pure it will be offered as a standalone wheel as well as in different bundles.
Hint 3: It is not orange and has no yellow stripe in the middle of the wheel rim
Hint 4: It is licensed by a German sports car maker (surprise, surprise!. But don't worry this will not make the wheel significantly more expensive. Just more beautiful. (Hint inside hint: Nobody guessed the correct model yet)
Hint 5: It will have illuminated buttons and that means...?
Hint 6: The logo of the car shows a black horse
Hint 7: One component of the wheel can only be made in Italy and another one we get directly from the UK

Its actually multiplatform, this is what Darin Gangi of Inside Sim Racing disclosed on the matter at Race Sim Central...

"Since Thomas has let the cat out of the bag.. I will too.. We have one in route to test with Gran Turismo 5 (I know a PS3 game, but it will work with it too) ! Thats all I will say right now since Thomas didn’t say much about it at his blog.. Stay tuned for pictures when it arrives !!"

My Guess a "Turbo S" variant with the GT3RS wheel, maybe even in full leather rather than Alacantara finish?

Possibility...

Porsche Speedster 2011?
Blue Stripe! / Not Yellow!

Thomas your a very bad boy, lol....

I would say either a Carrera GTS, or a 911 SC...

Just wild guesses though, based on Thomas's clues.

I just hope it doesn't have the same wheel rim shape as the GT3RS and PWC. I don't like the thumb grips. I MUCH prefer the smooth round design of the PWTS.

I thought you enable it by the triangle button? If it´s instead the clutch it would explain why I don´t get a 100 % success rate ;) I am not sure if you understood my post fully. Nope. No need to press triangle anymore before the race. Just depress the clutch and you're ready to go.

I agree about the rest. I'm almost shocked how wonderful the physics are compared to Prologue. It's like night and day.

Really companies don't take your money until an item ships? BS. Come on people. Amazon takes my money the instant I push Submit Order. Same goes with Best Buy, Target, and Sears as well as many others. I don't think they are fraudulent companies.

Absolutely.

Once you agree to purchase the item, and give your CC info, they can charge it whenever they want. Why on Earth would they wait? If something goes wrong they can easily refund the card. It makes no sense to not charge the card/account immediately. It's just business.

;)

Here in Canada with Amazon.ca, BestBuy.ca, and Futureshop.ca the only time they charge you is if they have the stock. If they don't have stock they don't charge your credit card until they have something physical they can ship you. At least this was my experience.

The issue people here are having is that they were charged but according to the information we've been provided nothing was shipped.

Fanatec... sent me a private message letting me know that they will look into what is going on. Hopefully they can resolve this. I still want the Clubsport Pedals and the new Clubsport shifter but this experience has made me think twice about ordering them. Hopefully Fanatec... can work his/her magic and provide a better customer experience that we've received so far.

The funny this is that when I ordered my wheel a few weeks ago it took six days from the time I clicked order to when it was delivered to my door. This means that in those six days it went from USA to Canada and went through customs and then from the hub in Canada to my city and then to me. Because that was extremely quick I am a bit worried about this order because it's been 20 days and nothing has happened. Again, Fanatec... is looking into it and I'm sure there will be a resolution in the near future.

On a side note, I'm a bit disappointed that another multi-platform wheel is coming out. I hope it's not leaps and bounds better than the PWTS as I just spent a lot of money on it. Had I known I would have waited for a bit. I don't care too much if the difference is the material on the wheel itself but if the components are substantially better then I'll probably cry. :)

I would be very surprised if the internal components are vastly improved.

It will most likely be a PWTS with a different body/wheel rim (from another Porsche variant), the latest FW upgrades, and CS/Shifter bundles...

I wouldn't worry about it...

;)

It's probably going to be multiplatform but Darin didn't disclose anything yet. He made an assumption/pressumption. They don't have the wheel yet so it's not 100% sure that it's going to be multiplatform

Glad that Thomas finally responded with a vengeance, but after the thrill is gone I guess no need to scramble anymore, take your time Fanatec, whenever you feel you can ship the order! but as a kind gesture I believe at least shipping charges should be refunded to those affected.

We can all speculate. But yes it would be so weird to make a 360 exclusive wheel especially if it´s supposed to be a new top of the line. I can´t see it happen.

Fanatec (Thomas), assuming it works on a PS3 & it's not Alcantara/suede, PM me payment info b/c I'm ready!...Yes, I'm serious (assuming shipping isn't crazy $100 or something), thx!
