hopefully the wheel will be worth the hastle. I really have no reason to complain at this point, I ordered my wheel on the 24th. But, it sounds like i could be in for a long wait, disappointing.

Update:
I got a UPS tracking number tonight. "UPS"..not "USPS" as a lot of you have been mentioning.

So the new wheel is the GT2. So the wheel is basically what many have already created, a pwts with a gt3rs wheel but minus yellow stripe and plus transparent plastic.

Yes indeed. This will be the new wheel (well not this one, but you get the idea):

Personally, I'm glad I have a PWTS. The last smooth leather wheel for a while, it seems. It doesn't help that I'm not a huge fan of Alcantara.

;)

Finally my packages are in Canada. One arrived in Vancouver yesterday morning, one yesterday afternoon and 2 today. Man this has been one slow process, but it looks like it's coming soon.

Just got 3 of 4 packages this morning. However, the pedals are still in customs, shoulds have them by tommorow.

Any idea how can I cancel my order and get refunded as the items are yet to be shipped? the primary reason is that I will be away for holiday and if the items arrive it will be returned to sender due to failed delivery.

Secondary reason is the poor communication level and customer service, but I can't blame Fanatec of Germany as the shipping is out of their control, may be they should relocate the central warehouse to Canada!

Thank you Fanatec, will reorder the same items next month.

Any chance of ever getting an entry level kit like the Carerra wheel thats compatible with PS3 and Xbox 360?

Not likely.

The Xbox connectivity ("wireless" per Microsoft decree) is the most expensive part to include/license. It's why the wheels with Xbox support are always the top of the Fanatec line.

...and I assume wireless.

If it has Xbox Connectivity, than it's wireless.

;)

I'm from Canada as well so interested in your shipping experience.

Did your packages come via Canada Post? If so then did you have to pay any extra shipping on top of what Fanatec charged you? Thanks.

When you ship via USPS Canada Post takes over at the border and delivers it to your door. There are no extra shipping charges, taxes or duties.

Shipping is slow though...still waiting for my pedals to clear customs. So I can't even use the wheel yet.

I'm about to pull the trigger and order, but wanted to check a couple of things first, for those of you who have these wheels.

1. I'm considering the 911 Carrera wheel, as it appears to come with a pedal set and 6+1 shifter, and seems a decent price. Is that correct?
2. I'm not a hard-core racer, but do want something that works on both PS3 and PC; that Carrera wheel fits that, too, right?
3. The Carrera doesn't come with paddle shifters, so I assume I can add the Clubsport Shifter Paddles to it?

Lastly, and most importantly, (and hopefully Fanatec happens by) if I order this week (like today or tomorrow), is there a good chance I'll have it up here in Seattle, WA USA before Christmas? ;)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Edit: Whoah, just noticed the package deal for the GT3 RS V2. I may have to go with that instead, since it's not that much more expensive, and it looks like it's higher quality. Anyone have comparisons between the Carrera and the GT3 bundle?

1. Yup, wheel, pedals, and a gated shifter.
2. The Carrera works with PS3 and PC.
3. The Carrera actually does have paddle shifters, but they're pretty basic; They're more like buttons. Sort like what you find on a DFGT. You can buy an optional kit with proper paddles that screw into place.

Your shipping question is probably the toughest to answer. It's best you contact Fanatec directly. I expect there's a lot of demand due to the Holidays and the release of GT5.

The GT3 RS v2 is a great wheel. It should feel a lot smoother than the Carrera. Just keep in mind that the one you're looking at doesn't include pedals or any sort of stick shifter. You'd either need to already have set of pedals or can buy the basic Fanatec pedals for $50. The shifter pack is another $50.

Thanks for the reply. I just noticed the "Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Wheel - Clubsport edition + Shifter" bundle says "ship at end of December," so that hurts. I guess I'll have to price out the GT3 w/ 6+1 and pedals now...

Thanks for the info. Yeah usps and canada post can be slow at times and offer no tracking but the savings in brokerage fees etc make up for it.

I received my order yesterday. I think there was a huge issue with it so what Fanatec and the shippers did was ship it to me via UPS Expedited so it took two days to get here.

Thank you Fanatec and your North American shipping partners for clearing this all up. I think there are still some issues that need to be worked out but it's good to see that you guys do get around to taking care of your customers and ensuring they get what they ordered.

If you do not need it by Xmas you may want to wait and take a look at the new GT2 wheel and sets. According to the Fanatec this wheel will be their new flagship model and will work on PC,Xbox, and PS3.

The 911Wheel site said this model is already being shipped to the U.S. so I assume they will be taking orders very soon?

I will be ordering as soon as it is available!

I don't see anything about that one on their site (www.fanatech.com).

Main reason I need/want it by Xmas is because I have a week off between Xmas and New Years from work, and would like to do a bunch of driving. ;) I suppose I could live with getting it like the 27th or so, but that's 48 hours or so less driving I could be doing!

Do you have any links to the GT2 info?

Edit:
NM, I found Thomas' blog and read through that. Sounds interesting, now if we could just get a pre-order page up or at least a release date! ;)

I see, that makes sense. Bummer

Finally got my 3 tracking numbers after a couple emails. The bad news though is that they aren't even in USPS' system. Not even an "Electronic Shipping Info Received" on the site. I guess another 5-7 business days for my wheel to come. Sigh :(

Has anyone tried drifting with the Carerra wheel? It's gear driven vs the belt driven of the other fanatec wheels, so I'm wondering if the FFB reacts fast enough for drifting. Videos anyone? I'm returning my DFGT so I'm looking for a CHEAP wheel with FFB.
