OMG PD what have you done to arcade mode. It is completely ruined.
Besides of the crazy grids, now in Pro mode there are only 10 cars on the grid compared to 16 in GT5.
And all of the options are gone. No more tire wear, no more fuel usage and no mechanical damage.
They have taken the fun part out of arcade mode. Why not just cancel arcade mode and make it an option to have AI cars in online mode instead.
This game is just like GT5. Only half finished, because PD and Sony needed money from this year’s Christmas sale. This game needs some massive updates, within the next couple of months.

Far out this game is awesome.
Unreal graphics and game play.
Checking out the interiors is a joy.
Kangaroos are one surprising omission from Bathurst.

Yes i think its a fantastic licence structure too.
Over the poor system in GT5.
Unless they totally lose the play GT7 on Ps4 will be insane.

Can't think of anything id improve in this game.
Usually id say the engine sounds but honestly im not fussed.
Neither does the sluggish Ai bother me, i like winning anyway!
This has been a good online launch too, no dropouts.
Saturday will be my next big GT6 day!

Are you talking about arcade mode or did you just go off on a tangent about something completely unrelated?

Do us all a favour and keep to the thread topic please. It's bad enough I just find out AM is ruined never mind having people comment on unrelated matters.

Sorry if that came across rude.

No, actually, I'm not. I think is was supposed to.

I had some good racing in GT5 Arcade Mode from following the setups that were posted in that thread. Look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for GT6. I only get to play once a week, and appreciate the generosity of you posting the results of your testing. Thanks in advance.

l'm a fan of arcade mode too although I've barely used it in gt6 yet.

GT5's arcade mode races suffered framerate drops though - has anyone noticed if this also happens in GT6?
I tried Ascari in arcade and the framerate dropped badly. But haven't tried other tracks yet.

Another question: there seem to be only about 20 cars available in arcade - what's up with that?

@ altid6
I figured they had got rid of the 16-car grids 'cos that was too heavy on the processor thus leading to framerate drops. And gt6 has worse performance issues than gt5 already so there's no way gt6 could handle 16-car grids. That's why gt6 am has only got ten-car grids, I reckon.

@W3HS I think kanye accidentally posted in the wrong thread.. or maybe he wrote us a poem? How about a fresh haiku?

PD knows no race
Update gives us grid options
We go bananas

... This is what we did with arcade mode in GT5. Hoping for more endurance race in CO-OP mode in GT6.
...
6 hours of Spa in CO-OP mode.

This Sunday we had a 6 hours race on the Spa circuit. But it was not just a normal race; it was a race with some extra features.
Setup:
2 PS3 with GT5, connected through LAN and a network switch
2 HD screens set to client and server in the multi screen option
1 laptop with headset and 1 smartphone with headset
1 G25 wheel and pedals installed in a Mazda MX-5.

I stumbled on to this thread only today. You sir, have my utmost respect. Man, that's some dedication to having fun! If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'd buy you a pint of Hvidtøl :)

I feel I've lost a small amount of love for the franchise after hearing GT6 has taken a step backwards.

My only comfort is knowing that I still have '5 which I have never experienced frame rate drops while playing.

Thank you sir, but a Carlsberg would be better.
Unfortunately we are not going to have these kinds of events any more, with the new GT6. We had planned 2 – 3, 24h races in 2014, with this setup. But PD has removed the opportunity for doing so, both in Arcade and Carrere mode. Hopping for some massive updates within the next couple of month, so we can have some proper endurance racing again.

Here's my favorite arcade race from GT5 played in GT6. When I have more time I'll make a 20 lap race and see if it changes the time gap at the finish line. I wish more short oval tracks will show up in future DLC.

Twin Ring Motegi Speedway
7 laps
AI strength maxxed
picked GTR Nismo from 'rentals' with sports soft, everything else default normal

first race finish time results:
1st place: 4.28.7
2nd 4.28.8
3rd 4.28.9
4th 4.29.2
5th 4.35.6

second race:
1st: 4.29.3
2nd 4.29.4
3rd 4.29.6
4th 4.30.4
5th 4.30.8
6th 4.38.4

Overall, playable. I like it when the AI stays in packs and not strung out. I would pull ahead on the straight and they would catch me in the corners. They seemed to respect my space when we were tight. Last lap, last turn pedal to the floor and I couldn't pull away. Came in 3rd and 4th.

Extremely disappointing news... Not even the option for timed races and still the 99 lap limit which is no good for any of us trying to recreate endurance races. Hopefully at least they add in some historic endurance races with correct types of cars (eg no LeMans cars at Nurburgring).

I've got about 20 minutes into GT6 but the long term future of it for me sounds bleak, especially with the GT5 special options menu opponent selector, VLN and N24 races with GT cars instead of LMP's are now possible in GT5.

Friendly FYI, push the slider left(!) back further than 1 lap on the lap number option screen. It will set infinite laps. ;)
Hope this helps. Also, let us know if it works for GT6

I haven't tried pushing the grids with ballast or tire choice yet. Really, really disappointed with no tire wear, fuel use or damage-what's up with that? Current favorite car to use is the Daytona Coupe.

Dose any one else think the arcade mode in gt6 is complete sh@!t? somehow they've made it worse than GT5...After I beat GT5 I spent a lot and I mean a lot of time in the games arcade mode running 20-30 lap races for fun and while they were never action packed like Grid 2 or Need for Speed Shift 2, you were able to be placed with 16 ill repeat that... 16 AI cars that were fairly matched to the car you choose. In GT6 it seems that your just placed against 10 random cars. also you cant have fuel/tire wear in gt6 arcade witch means no endurance races. since the arcade mode is SO bad in gt6 it takes away a lot of replay value.

I would like to see a custom event mode where you could choose what cars can compete, tire & fuel settings ,difficulty,# of laps. and start type. This would bring a lot to the game because think if you could run all classic muscle at Monza or all DTM touring cars at Silverstone it WOULD ALLOW YOU TO MAKE THE MOST OF 1200 CARS 100 TRACKS.When you do get placed in a grid that has cars that are compettive to yours you can really see the improvement in the AI. The other day I was running the Ford Falcon V8 supercar around Bathurst and there was 2-3 gt500 cars that really gave me a battle they were squeezing me in 3 wide on the straights and riding my bumper down the hill. I've also had some good kart battles

You are not the only one, looking forward to the arcade mode functions.

The main issues we had in GT5, with this type of racing, was the lack of options for selecting the AI cars for the race (really hopes that it is possible to choose the cars for an arcade race in GT6). Of cause it will also be cool to have better AI opponents. Finally It would be nice to have some information on the HUD, about the time distance to the car infront of you and the car behind you, not only to the first place car.

We drove in arcade and A mode, on the Spa circuit with weather. The car was a Peugeot 908 FAB, with no extra tuning, all standard. Fuel and tire wear and of cause full damage. No driving aids, only ABS on 1.

The reason for this setup and race was to have a test, before planning a 24 hours race on the Le Mans circuit. This was all about fun, co-op and endurance, not money, price cars or awards. The idea behind this and future races is to make the racing experience just a little more realistic, by adding a new dimension to the race, where the driver and a race engineer cooperate to get the win and a lot more complicated driver changes, getting in and out of a real car. And it worked just perfect. The screen the driver looks at has no HUD, so the driver has to rely on the information flow coming from the race engineer, who has a normal HUD on his screen. The race engineer also has control over the pit functions, by using a normal PS3 controller. We downloaded a small program, so the laptop and the smartphone could communicate with a kind of walkie-talkie function, so in that way the driver and the engineer where able to speak to each other.

The race itself was not a big success. We ended up, just outside top ten. The weather was really bad, with 5 hours of rain during the 6 hours of race. That resulted in a couple of really hard crashes and a lot of damage to the car. But that is racing. We had a lot of fun and brought some new life to GT5, so we are looking forward to our 24 hours at Le Mans.

We have also done a 24 hours race in this mode.

Now that is HARDCORE!

In GT5 I'd use arcade just to run the Ring with AI as an obstacle. Really wish the AI was better because finding a competitive race on line is not easy most of the time. In GT6 I've done that a few times sofar. Probably will continue from time to time when I want an intense race on a thriling track. I would have used it more in GT5 if the AI had been better. Not gonig to be as much in 6 because I'm now ore intune to online racing.

Anyone notice that the cars fielded in arcade don't always match what you're putting on the track? I used a 843hp Honda HSV and the system put things like 500pp street cars on the track. Surprised there weren't any LMPs. It made it a non-race. Just blew by everyone.

I won't comment on PD though, because if I do I'll be banned.

I hope people can find a way to make Arcade mode somehow worthwhile in GT6. What about using the arcade mode cars? There should be a couple of race cars over there. What grid do you have when you select them??

Yeah this is where a simple thing like one make races (pretty sure this was in GT5) would help a little bit, at least the field would be somewhat close to the car you were using.

There was one thing that is incredibly nit-picky but kinda silly I noticed. I spent all sorts of in game credits on decking out my race driver. But when I go into arcade mode my driver suit/helmet don't carry over! :irked: My driver is wearing a default uni.. awww come on PD!!

In GT5 the driver's uniform was usually related to the car manufacturer, so depending on your car you'd have that particular suit in AM. Is that the case with '6 too them?

I've noticed this in GT Mode as well. For instance, the last round of the Polyphony Digital Cup has a GT-R in position 1, and an Audi S3 in position 12 :odd:

And even with these cars in the grid, I destroyed it yesterday with a 134 hp Alpine. Nonsense.

As a quick fix, they could at least shuffle the fast cars to the back of the grid so they could at least overtake loads of cars at the back and race to the front with you. Sometimes I just feel like I'm weaving in and out of a queue of traffic or something. Like you say, it's even more bizarre when you can win with cars two or three hundred horsepower less than the most powerful rivals.
