Why, so sub aliens can tank rating and steal them from the guys who actually should be in those tiers? Because we both know that’s exactly what will happen. The same way guys would rank to get into 2nd and 3rd split, so they could “win” instead of driving in the lobbies they should have been in by rights. It just gives people another reason to skew the entire thing.
Steal what? I've already said several times, the prizes would scale from the top downwards. Tanking would not benefit you and I didn't say that lower levels would actually go to world finals and recieve a trophy. The real life examples were just that, examples of lower leagues recieving prizes. Here, let me give you a very quick rough idea

GT1

Top 32 - Go to world Finals & 50 million credits
Remaining top 10% - 45 million credits
11% to 50% - 40 Million
51% to 75% - 35M
75% - 100% - 30M

GT2
Top 10% - 25M
11% to 50% - 20M
51% to 75% - 15M
75% to 100% - 10M

GT3
Top 10% - 8M
11% to 50% - 5M
51% to 75% - 3M
76% to 100% - 1M

Obviously the actual values/prizes would need more than five minutes thought, as would the system in general, I'm just illustrating that tanking wouldn't help you in terms of reward. Would people still tank because they want to say they "won" Tier 2? Probably, but who cares? People genuinely in Tier 2 were going to finish behind them overall either way. You could even leave the GT grouping out of the prizes all together and just go on overall percentile.

I'm sure given a few hours or days PD could come up with a good system.

Steal wins, wins are all the matter in a true competition, which is what these are. I don’t give a crap if I get a single credit over the entire season, I don’t enter these for the credits. Enjoy your participation trophy I guess.

after playing this morning, I feel comfortable saying that the difference in BOP and physics between 1.13 and 1.15 is not significant enough to make the Manufacturers Series a decent event. And my word the new penalty system is tough. Some people are continuing as before, others (including me) are now becoming very hesitant… what a mess.

that said, the first nation’s cup race has the potential to be a lot of fun. Great car / track combo

Nations is always a better competition anyways. Manu has always been just metas showing up at the tracks they are meta at, PD can’t sort BoP out to save their lives. The classes are too big, and diverse to ever get close enough without destroying the way the cars drive and making them all basically drive the same.

Newsflash, not everyone thinks the same as you either there buddy. And my way of thinking puts me in Top split, how about your participation trophies, where do they get you? 😂
They get me credits to spend on things in the game I'm playing. Which is all a lot of people want. The amount of people who look at this in an ultra competetive, must win, super serious business is tiny. The casual millions just want to have some fun racing and earn credits for it, like the rest of the game.

It was PDs choice to split players into three leagues, without transferring them through the season, so wouldn't be wrong to give small bonuses to win the GT2 and GT3 leagues, much like lower level championships do.

For example, I didn't race too much at the beginning of Sport, so in the first official season I was Dr.B. But through the 2018 official season I went up to A and ran in higher lobbies. With a closed league like the one we have now that wouldn't happen, so an incentive to win the lower level league could be an equivalent.

And I could be wrong, but I suspect that they chose this league tier structure to prevent top players from dropping lobbies abruptly, due to constant disconnections and/or bad individual races tanking their SR, so there is a safety net against... Relegation.

When the main prize for winning the top split championship is a pair of gloves and a matching red t-shirt I wouldn't be too surprised that the lower leagues don't pay out great prizes. I do think the championship races should pay out more than dailies to encourage more participation (200k for a win plus clean race sounds fair as it's roughly double a race C).

And a trip to the Finals. In the past they even attended the FIA awards. Plus some prizes from sponsors, Thrustmaster, TAG, Sony...But of course only if you agreee to attend or be on webcam at least to prove you're not cheating.....or using a controller. :P

Are the free holidays back now, I know they stopped for a couple of years with covid. They went to the Nurburgring 24 hours one year, that would be a cool trip to see the real race.

Yes.

The mid-season World Series Showdown is scheduled for July 29-31, and it’ll take place at a regular haunt for the Gran Turismo series: Red Bull Hangar-7.

As for the second event, that will be the World Final itself on November 25-27. Once again this will take the finalists to the Sporting Monte Carlo venue that hosted the live finals in 2018 and 2019, and is sure to be a spectacular finale.

Yes.

Cool, I'll wait until the finals are back at the Nurburgring before I win one though 😅

They can compete but wont be featured in any of the broadcasts and don't really have a chance of winning anything
I think in GT3 level you won't go to final but you can still win one of those trophies for what ever DR your in me I'm C DR still going to race to win

Why wouldn't you want prize money?

Id rather credits for being in the hunt in GT championships, instead of having to grind out some event in offline mode against some brain dead AI

If I was doing Nations or World Series, I'd be more concerned with earning rewards in dollars than in Gran Turismo credits.

Why? Cash prizes arent happening and World Series effectively running as a professional championship would be a disaster. You already have teams of people gaming the points payouts.

Why would you be so against players earning big credits as a reward for the challenge of actual racing? They're still playing the game, just against tougher opponents.

They should throw the online players a bone, frankly GTs online championships work because of the amount of people playing them. Once you start hemorrhaging players it can snowball if PD aren't careful.

If it's not professional, then in-game prizes do make much more sense, yes.

The problem is that I'm not sure the public for the rare cars is the same public as the people who compete online. It'd be nice if PD bridged the gap, but the players would also need to care and usually they do only if the car is competitive.

I think you are misrepresenting players here

People like the fancy cars no matter their skill level, just that you can't race them properly because AI sucks and they are so expensive you can't actually get a room together full of likeminded people who own them.

This might be a problem...

The website says the first slot for these first these Championship rounds starts at 16:00 PST (in the US), which is 1900 EST (my time zone in the US). So in the game it should say my first slot is at 19:00, but instead it says my first slot isn't until 20:00. And there's only 4 slots displaying for me, when there should be 5, so apparently the game has effectively locked me out of first slot...

Either that, or the website has the times listed incorrectly for the timezones, and first slot is indeed at 20:00 EST, and instead I'm somehow locked out of competing in the final slot instead...

What the website says (PST is 3 hrs behind me, so it would be 19:00, 20:00, 21:00, 22:00, and 23:00 for me):

I think PST is the winter timezone and currently it is PDT (which is Pacific Daylight Time) which is an hour forward, so those times are correct.
That said the 5th slot is missing and I don't know why they didn't show it as Daylight time on the website

Weather is going to be a factor at N24. Drizzle on my second practice lap. It started as I crossed the start line and by the time I was at the carousel the surface water meter was well into the middle third.

Could be absolute mayhem if this happens in race as you may have 5-6 minutes of nursing slicks over a wet surface. Tyre strategy may decide points rather than pace.

Any advice for a GT1 driver who to go with? Raced Porsche, Renault and McLaren but there's certainly an art in not just picking the Subaru or Beetle especially with N24hr as the first race.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo World Series 2022 Starts May 27

The flagship esports series for Gran Turismo, the Gran Turismo World Tour, will get underway on May 27 with a predominantly online calendar that will see new world champions crowned in November...
Hi..I have a question about Ford in the manufacturer series. Why can't I pick the Gr3. Mustang? It only highlights the Gt40 for Gr3. Am I missing something. Ty

Entering the manufacture cup today and struggling to pick a manufacture. I don’t want to pick the meta cars as I struggle to drive them and I also want to have fun. It’s just boring if everyone drives the same car.

The obvious choice is clearly Subaru and both WRXs are strong, but meta.
After the 1.15 update Toyota could be another top pick, ut I don’t really want to drive a Toyota. Also last time I drove the GR Supra Gr4 it was rubbish.

I have two accounts and on my mess around account I have picked BMW, and I don’t want to pick them for my main account either.
So far in testing I’ve used, season 1 McLaren (both cars were great. not so much now) season 2 Aston Martin (both cars great again) and season 3 Mercedes (the Gr3 car is my go to car)
I want to drive something different and I’m tempted by Jaguar and Ford amd im not ruling out Merc, Aston or BMW.
