I think this will be an amazing game!

But I think it will be an amazing game in 2026, and I'm happy to wait for 1.0. Both Kunos specifically and the genre in general have not got a great track record with early access, and I don't expect this to be any different. I think that expecting ACE to be a polished, fully-featured experience in January is a bit naïve.

But when it's fully ready, I'm definitely happy to give it a whirl.

Who is expecting it to be fully polished on
day one of an early release? They have already said it will only have 20 cars and 5 tracks

Interesting. Reminds me of GT5P and where GTS started at. I would have thought they'd at least start with all the ACC tracks 🤷‍♂️

Jerome

How many cars and tracks in EA and 1.0 version of the game?
In Early Access they're aiming for no less than 20 cars and 5 tracks. Version 1.0 is still unknown, but will include a variety of different types of road cars, and also a variety of all kinds of race cars from touring cars to F1.

I was desperately looking forward to EVO this year because it'd be the only racing game that wouldn't disappoint me in some way (I've absolutely no reason to even be remotely weary of Kunos at the moment; please don't change that  ), but waiting until January to have a crack at this isn't that bad.

Procedurally generated freeroam tracks is something innovative to the genre, is it not? I can't recall any other racing sim having that in its official branch of features.

Im hoping this is the edition of the game is the one that clicks with me, a bit like project cars 3 did, it looks really decent. Would appreciate a demo or beta phase to build confidence for a day one purchase (doubt it will land like solar crown) but how it plays on pad is my main curiosity.
My guess is if you liked Project Cars 3, you're going to hate this.

Projects Cars 3 was by far the worst of the series.

Sadly those people exist. Anyone expecting a polished game in January should have their head checked and locked out of joining during EA 'cause they don't understand the concept of early access in the first place. :D
Heck some are already "disappointed" from a couple of videos they've seen from a PRE-ALPHA version on the expo.
Others jumping to the conclusion cars will be locked behind in-game currency in all situations. People fail to read and use their 2 brain cells and just like to moan.
EA can be frustrating at times but the trade off is obviously the "early access" part. If you're not able to cope with the frustration, just wait for 1.0 release (not you specifically, I mean in general).

I dont know if you guys know anything about a leak bzt here it is from reddit.

IMPORTANT: Since nobody bothers to actually read, YES MOD SUPPORT IS COMING but post launch and in a way to support good modders "in a more creative way" and prevent asset ports from other games (that's in the official Kunos interview with everyeye.it, you can read more below).

In early May of 2024, user "iknowstuff99" (very appropriate name, obviously a throwaway account) posted a .txt file on various sim racing Discord servers containing information about Assetto Corsa EVO with no source. The user stuck around for some more time to just chat and discuss the info he gave.

The following are the contents of the .txt file, posted on a public simracing Discord server:

============================================

Do not let this raise your expectations. The source for this information is unknown, and obviously not final. We have marked with (C) the confirmed features, (M) the features that might come and (S) the ones that are for the most part speculation. If one point contains 2 markers it is something in between.

(C) Will feature a huge 2500 square KM open world map of the real life area around (and including) the Nurburgring. Including highly detailed towns, all of the roads present in real life down to a 1:1 recreation.

(C, reported by locals) The map features real life landmarks correctly recreated. Some locations have been reportedly manually scanned by the dev team for maximum fidelity, such as Adenau.

(C) Traffic AI will be present on the roads and will react to your actions in a fairly realistic manner. AI traffic will be bound to the same physics as the rest of the player cars. AI might also be doing track days on the open world Nordschleife during opening hours.

(C) It will maintain the high level of realism that AC and ACC are known for, with even better physics and simulation. Roads will never be exaggerated in size for comfort.

(C, M) There is a possibility for an extensive player driven market and economy. There is a chance for social areas made in collaboration with the real life locations.

(C, S) If the economy is present, players might be able to own, sell, extensively customize and modify their cars and build a history on them to raise value.

(C, M) Players will be able to partake in jobs of all kinds, from pizza delivery to track taxi laps.

(S) There might be limited quantity/unique vehicles with special mods or references.

(M) Chances are more open world maps will be added. Almost confirmed locations are: Italy, Japan. Speculations around France, England, USA are also present.

(C, partly confirmed by the devs) Graphics will receive a hefty bump in quality and performance. Their in house engine apparently has similar capabilities to UE5 with technology similar to Nanite. Ground fidelity and quality has also received a significant boost. Textures, lighting, materials etc also look a lot better. No info on Ray Tracing or similar.

(C) Game servers will go beyond 100 users per server, if not double.

(M) Game servers might be divided per regions, with seamless transitions together with friends when travelling in Germany. Each of these servers will have huge player counts.

(C) Custom and player hosted servers will still be present. Normally the game will send you into the official open world, but one can choose to see a server browser. Game will try to match you with your friends or teammates if not using server browser.

(C) There is a half fictional loop of the autobahn that completes the real life highway. This is to make a loop for gameplay purposes.

(C, S) Players will almost surely be able to own homes, garages and even businesses like tuning shops, parts shops, clubs and so forth.

(C) There will be no -official- mod support.

(S) There might be a chance for modders to create their own tuning parts.

(M) Cars could have onboard Spotify radio/Spotify.

(C, by the developer) The physics model has not lost quality, as it has been initially worked on by the original developer before leaving.

(S) Console launch will happen at a much later date. Crossplay could be possible.

(S) Custom dirt/gravel road physics and correctly deformable terrain.

Release date is set to hit Early Access later 2024 on Steam. Price is unknown. Recommended specs are unknown. VR support is unknown.
Wow, now im getting tingles, been a while any game can do that.
Gravel would be cool too.

In the videos I've seen, the AI looks very much alive.
It attacks, makes mistakes, takes full advantage of the track.
I feel like I'm watching the AI from rfactor 2 / lmu .

And the series cars finally have a correct chassis and grip a minimum even in the rain (apart from aquaplaning).
The sounds of the three vehicles are incredible (the alpine!!!)

Can't wait for January 16 to play home !

Yep, it's going to be a great time. Sim Racing has never been better.

I will approach it with an open mind, software fluctuates even you're favourite franchises have peaks and troughs. What's promising here is the game has a good base to build off of (even though the developer has limited resources / size) the aggregate of the development time should offer some real promise. My point is games generally improve over time, even after release in this paradigm. Hopefully the console release will get some mods integrated down the line, as this made the original PC game much loved.

I found this the hardest part to judge on the videos I've found available as they mostly are camera and not direct from game.
The I30N was definitely lacking in the pops and crackles it's renowned for, at least to my ears anyway.

That aside I'm on the hype train, if it delivers even what has been stated from Marco it's already more than I had hoped it would be.
a Career mode with customisation of the cars to a point, free roam, the ability to use any car also outside of the career etc it's got everything I would want.

Bring it on.

My point was more than Project Cars 3 was a dumbed down arcade game, whereas EVO will very much be a Sim.

Not sure what point you were trying to make re: software, but I have absolutely no concerns over the quality of AC EVO

The sound of the vehicle is clearly audible here.

Sound wise I think it sounds fairly realistic, and modern cars sound pretty weak in most case thanks to PPF and turbos etc.

It'll be exciting to hear some of the vintage cars. Knowing Marco has an Alfa Junior of his own, I have high hopes for how much fun that will be to drive!

As an I30N owner allow me to add that the pops and cracks are (most of the time) reasonably muted from inside the car, it's outside that they are at their most 'hooligan'.
I own one also and am absolutely aware of what they are capable of noise wise, how Hyundai got it through the EPA noise checks here in Aus is beyond me 😂.

You are certainly correct in stating that the sound is muted from the inside with the windows up as would be the sounds we would be hearing in-game I assume, and will definitely keep that in mind while trying to make any judgement.

Windows down is another story 😂.

Have they talked about controller support and making the game play well on a controller?
I know this might seem like heresy but I can only play with one and I love sims but it's an area that's been a bit lacking in AC to date.
Hopefully if GTPlanet gets hands on they can test or maybe ask the devs if this is something that's important to them.
I'm not just wondering for myself, I think having ACE play well on a controller is a way they could breakthrough to a much bigger audience.

A man of great taste.

Same here for the UK.

Agreed
Windows down is another story 😂.
Windows down and tunnel is the finest combo when driving.

Ok so had a chance to have a look at it.
The deep burbling the I30N produces can be heard along with a pop or two. Makes me happy.

To be honest the sound effects that Kunos have produced in the past (ACC) I was happy with anyway and expected as much this time around.
I know sound effects can be subjective but I find them to be very important to add to the gameplay along with immersion.

Thanks again for the video 👍.

Trees (especially the way they are shaded) look very GT Sport-ish in the videos, which is no bad thing at all.
Still can't determine whether they're pseudo-3D or not.
There's noticeable pop-in and LOD blending with the foliage but pre-alpha so it's not a big concern right now and will hopefully be visually seamless in the RC.
Nowhere near as bad as the fugly TreeFX LOD issues and warping is in AC with CSP.
