The key word here is 'random". Sometimes i can race for 30 min and don't notice any problem but other times the stuttering and frame drops are very noticeable.

I Think the key thing here is that if you watch VVV and Inside sim racing, they talk a lot about the negatives and the screen tearing and the random stutters and the lack of content and dodgy DLC practices and the silly things like race ends and flick back to pits etc etc. But then when they talk about the driving it all just disappears.
Now in no way can i say Kunos can just walk away and not need to look at patching things, but i knew what i was getting and i got it and must say its better looking than i thought it would be.
For me the game is what i knew i was paying for, the difference with that and PCars IMO is i felt SMS lied about stuff so that at the start made me more annoyed.
Anyway look, i'd hate to come across as one of those blind types, I do see some issues graphically but for the most part i can play it and enjoy it, the Sauber C9 round Spa last night was brutal and amazing, possibly the most visceral moment in a driving game for me where it all felt 'right', i am in that honeymoon period though, time will truly tell.

The console release isn't perfect but as Alan of VVV says the consoles can cope but Kunos need to go back and optimise stuff a bit better.

First impressions on the PS4 thus far taking a quick spin with the M3 E30 and Yellowbird. I feel it mate:tup:

Only negatives to report so far are the Japanese Pack isn't there (Lame....) and the sounds though good aren't really what I expected on my system (Mind you Project CARS & Driveclub's sounds pump on my Logitech X530s)

I simply can't fathom some of the idiotic comments on AC's Facebook page? Even down to a few complaining about not being able to change the colour of the drivers gloves!
I tend to stay away from social media pages, Youtube comments, etc. Your IQ will halve just by looking at them most of the time. Doesn't even matter what the subject is most of the times.

I find impossibile to win career even n2-3. The race with the old bmw vs the new ones. Lowered to easy but i can't. Any advice? Thanks
I spent four hours several weeks back trying to beat that event on pc its quite challenging. The first lap is crucial, you have to seriously dive bomb the corners. What it came down to is that if i wasnt in third or second by the long straight then restart, if im not second or first by the end of the first lap then restart.

Curva Esse into Tornatino is your best chance, the ai is slow there. If that isnt possible then you will lose time down that straight but by learning the absolute limits of the car you can brake very late into curvone and gain that again. Dive bomb the ai at curva monte sperello, if you put enough pressure the ai will go to the outside of the track and then though the middle of the esses you can go for the overtake, quickly reduce the amount of road that the ai can use though the end of the seconda esse well it second happen anyways due to the understeer and then you should have the lead. You will not be able to lose him after that so you will sadly have to resort to blocking and take a less aggresive line so you force the ai to use the outside if they wish to overtake.

Admittedly this is one of the harder events in the game, you have a heavier car, a car with less weight, have a FWD car against a RWD car.

The hardest event is with a 458, you have to attempt to beat a Step3 458, thats insane, that car has a 400KG advantage on you. its a race for aliens as you have to be hitting world record style laps to beat that step3.

The physics of AC are second to none. It all feels so natural. I for one can never drive the Nordschleife, be it in Project Cars or the GT series. It really has been my nemesis..... up until now. The drive at the Green Hell in Assetto Corsa is sublime. I cannot believe that this track might now become one of my favourites. :D

Some thoughts...
We all know the strengths of AC, so i would like to point out some weak points.
I already owned the game for PC, but i bought it again for PS4 because i prefer to play on console and my PC isn't really powerful.

The new console UI has some issues, because important features are missing, and i was wondering if anyone else noticed or cared. First thing i have to mention is the fact that you're not able to choose specific AI cars anymore. In the PC version, you can edit every single AI car. You can set up your own championships this way, with the same AI cars in every race (for example: 3x Audi R8, 3x BMW Z4, 1x Glickenhaus SCG003). This isn't possible anymore in the console version. I was afraid they would delete this option in favor of a simplified UI, but i think a game like AC isn't simple at all so it shoulnd't get such a dumbed down UI / menu.

Another thing worth pointing out: If you choose to race against AI cars of the same class, the game will put GT3 cars together with GT2 / GTE cars. It is strange, because this didn't happened in the pc version. In real life, GT2 / GTE are faster than regular GT3 cars and the only way to put them together in one race, if at all, is by doing a lot of BOP (balance of performance).

I wonder if anyone else is unhappy about this and if Kunos are awared of this situation. I would like to see this changed in one of the upcoming patches.

Last but not least: AI driver difficulty settings has been reduced to 4 levels. In the PC version, you could do a lot more fine tuning. Thats sad because "easy" is the lowest difficutly and it is already way to hard for a less skilled player IMO.

To gain access to those cars you have to first go to the playstation store. Near the bottom of the left hand side menu will be an option to redeem codes. Enter your code and they will unlock. You may have to reboot the game after doing so though.
Thank you very much for coming to the rescue.

Somehow I was sure I could insert the codes coming from the game...

I wonder why the patch notes for the Steam version's 1.8 build are so detailed compared to those for version 1.01 on consoles. Does Sony and Microsoft require that the developers only reveal the most significant changes? This wouldn't make much sense but we all know how ridiculous the console business can be. I find it hard to believe that Kunos didn't change more things in the first console patch than what they told us. That being said, I can't wait to see how they'll support the console versions going forward. I suspect that version 1.02, or whatever they call it, will be the true point at which console players will begin to feel involved in the ongoing effort repeatedly emphasized by the PC players.

You have to pay depending on the size of the update as far as i know, not sure if that has changed, back when i had to update something it was a flat rate charge. People can argue all they want about what platform is best to game on but for a developer the consoles are horrible, you pay for a worse service and get a smaller cut of sales. Sorry had to vent a bit.

I'm willing to bet Kunos is well aware of every issue you mentioned and many, many more. Kunos got their butts kicked online yesterday and frankly, they deserved it. Except for saying things like "It's too hard to drive..." type complaints, pretty much every complaint I read was valid.

If you also own the game on PC, you're probably aware of how serious Kunos is about presenting not just a good product, but an excellent product. I'd be willing to bet that Stefano didn't get any sleep last night and he probably won't tonight either because he'll be up coding fixes.

Not being able to choose AI cars is lame. I knew that was the way it was going to be from pre-release videos months ago. If Kunos doesn't want to give total control to the user, so there are no Mazda 787B versus Abarth 500 races (just a crazy example), they need to apply comprehensive tags to the cars so that when you select the car you're going to be using in the race a list of available car choices for AI drivers is presented to the user. Like in your example, if you select a GT3 car, only GT3 series and a little bit lower should be allowed. However, if you select a GT2/GTE car, you should be able to choose from GT2/GTE cars and also GT3 cars, because at least they aren't faster than the car the user selected. That's just an idea though. The main point is, the end user deserves much more control. I mean, how the heck can you do a "Track Day" if you can't hand pick AI cars?

I have no inside knowledge at all, so please don't quote me on this or take it as fact, but I have a feeling the next 30-60 days are going to be patch city for console users. There is one lead developer, Stefano, and I think a developer than handled the initial porting of code to consoles and that's it for Kunos employees who have access to the code base.

They will pump out the fixes as quick as they can, I believe, because supposedly the console upgrade policy is slow - for getting approval - so they probably won't wait until they have 5 or 6 semi big things fixed before they submit code for patch release approval. I could be 100% wrong on this. It might be exactly the opposite and they'll have to wait until they have 5 or 6 semi big things fixed before they bother submitting a patch to Sony/MS. On PC, we've had 3 or 4 patches in a week before. Probably even more back in the very early days, before I had AC.

As far as release/patch notes are concerned, I have no idea what really went into that 1.01 patch for consoles. What we do know is that console users will frequently be slightly behind the PC version of Assetto Corsa. Stefano has said there is no way around that. That is because of the difficult patch/release policy we've spoken about. It's just a lot easier and quicker to push fixes & upgrades to PC users. This doesn't mean that PC users will be getting a better experience, but rather a quicker one.

You guys can select different post process filters on consoles? On PC i change them for heavy cloud conditions as the track looks too dark.

Remember they have to pay for every update so they'll probably try to get as many things done in each update as possible. The first few weeks they might bang out a few quick ones to get things a bit more stabilized but I'd expect after that they might wait to get a list of things.

The PS4 version feels like 1.5 to me. The PC game did take quite a forward step with 1.6 and 1.7 and now 1.8.

Yep, false starts and brake temps (in some cars) being big ones. The AI got a couple nice tweaks yesterday too that should have them suffering from mistakes and collisions more.

Oh man... I completely forgot about that. I never even knew about that until a couple of days ago. It was either you or @brownninja97 who told me about the pay to post updates policy. How sleazy.
