I had to send mine back when it did that. :( Might be worth contacting Thrustmaster even though it's out of warranty, not sure what they can do but it's worth a shot. One thing to try, turn your wheel all the way to the right (or left, I forget) before you turn it on, sometimes that will force it to work.

Earlier, I forced it all the way to the left twice, and it worked both times. However, it makes me think it's the beginning of faults

Your one of the people who should of known not to buy AC if that's the way you feel. You were warned what takes priority in AC. It was stated all over here long before the release. Nobody to blame but yourself if your unhappy about that.
I was talking generically, because it's a legitimate thing for some people which is worth discussing.

I have owned pCARS on PC since the start of the WMD alpha, and Assetto Corsa since the tech preview which was only available to Netkar Pro owners (also own Kunos' Ferrari Academy).

I own AC and all DLC on PC and also bought it on PS4 just to have something to give my T500 a work out while waiting for GT Sport. I really do know what I am getting in to ;)

Thanks to everyone for sharing all their perceptions & info on this game. I didn't pre-order it, & will never do that again with any game after being let down by GT5, GT6, & P BUGS. So it's nice to get lots of feedback before deciding what do do.

I have almost entirely given up on sim racing & am on the verge of seeling off all my gear, mainly due to $ony's repugnant licensing deals with various wheel manufacturers, & the mess that was Project CARS. I also still can't get to grips with $ony deciding that I have to pay them a yearly fee to be able to use my own internet for multiplayer. Add to the mix the bad online in DC, P CARS, & Assetto, & I find no point in online racing anynore (which was my main stay in GT). I haven't raced online since early 2015, & that was in GT6.

While it's great to hear that Kunos haven't watered down the physics for the masses, it seems that they have watered down the game in general as regards options & certain funcionality. Now that Fanatec wheel support has been removed, I see little point in buying it, as I wanted to use my CSR. I'd love a great sim that also had great online multiplayer with all the bells & whistles regarding options for public & private lobbies. AC isn't quite there from what I've gathered from this thread.

Questions: what options are there in public lobbies on consoles at the moment? How does it compare in funcionality to GT5 & GT6?

PS: Would love to go PC sim racing, but simply cannot afford it, so I'm stuck with PS4 for now.

The AI needs to be addressed. I am no worldclass simracer and I just beat Alien-AI on a 3 lapper at Vallelunga Classic  The AI was pretty damn good in terms of étiquette and awareness

Settings used (you guys will probably understand without me having to translate everything :D

@torque99 Can you post a screenshot in English from the difficulty settings please?

It is a very nice combination to race but there is one drawback and I don't know if that happens on all the track and all the classes. I started 15th but everytime my mighty Alfa takes off like a rocket. Before the first sharp righthander I manage to get in 6th position.

It's easier to win than the E30 career race with AI on easy

To be fair, even on PC it's always been "watered down" compared to other games. The console seems to be missing a few things that are there on the PC side, but not too many and hopefully some of them will get added soon.

That really bums me out to hear you say that you might just stop sim racing altogether. I've seen your name here as long as I can remember - you've always been quite active on GTPlanet which leads me to believe you really enjoyed this genre.

Once I heard my wheel wouldn't work with a PS4 I said "buh bye..." - I wasn't dropping $400 on a PS4, $400 on a wheel and $60 plus monthly charges for GT7 (the name GT Sport wasn't known yet). Almost $900 so I can play one game. And I didn't even know if it would be any good. Plus I was disgusted with Polyphony.

I hope you don't ditch sim racing, but I could understand if you did. Fortunately I was able to get a really good laptop so I could play AC. Being on the PC side is honestly so wonderful because of the mods and stuff... I hope to keep seeing your name around GTP.

@VBR, if you look at my signature you can see I do not have much of a gaming PC, lucky for me AC is not very demanding, compare to other recent SIM/racing game, sure a better PC would give shinier graphics, but they are still better than console. It is a shame that you can not enjoy racing online anymore, I remember from the GT6 days that you have talent.
My point is, a good enough, new to you PC might be much more affordable than expected and online racing in AC on the PC side is quite entertaining, many in this thread can attest to that.

I think 500 bucks buys you a capable PC already, just hook up your CSR and voila.
I agree. You won't be able to max out all the graphics settings, but to be honest there isn't a huge difference in my opinion between some of the settings minimum to maximum. Some, of course there is a noticeable difference. A fairly decent video card and a fairly decent CPU are all you need. Certainly nothing fancy. Then you can tell Sony to shove it. :D

Silly me hasn't, I'll try that.

Yes.It is probably toast. I returned mine to Costco, brand new one shipped the next week. Hopefully you can get a replacement. I saw the videos and replys. Sucks bring, they had

Yep, exactly that. Is it a fault? I've had the wheel longer than a year, not sure when the warranty runs out.

@VBR Not sure if it is an option but...

Sell your Fanatec and get a Thrustmaster T150 to begin with. I am very well aware it is not the same quality in build and experience but at least you can enjoy racing with a wheel on your PS4. If your budget allows it in the future you could upgrade the way you wish.

No, they simply disagree with you. Wind it in.

No no one disagreed yet, if you read the thread in full i wasn't addressing anyone on here. Does anyone want to stand up and defend the start procedure in AC?
Forza gets a lot of hate for its arcade style starts and i see AC as pretty much the same start procedure. But at least Forza doesn't have some magic driver door that shuts on its own for no reason whatsoever.

I expect for a 'sim' the chance to have car in neutral at the start of the race and for me to have a bearing over how successful my start is. Sorry, i really can't just be me surely?

Bro if you want a true Sim,go buy a real car and go to a track day. Why bother stirring up a hornets nest? It's a video game, they will always have some shortcomings. I honestly haven't seen a developer put out what's on the cover/box yet.

@dopedog It doesn't bother me at all. Find it an unimportant factor.

If it would be important to me I also would like an engineer to belt me in, a grid girl infront of my car, a journalist asking me questions and a kiss from my wife before taking off(like that anyway :D) and taking fluids through a tube while racing ;)

Have done that years ago (alfa 155 and alfa 75 no less), I also still do karting, something I've done since i a child but i'm on a gaming forum here as such i thought i should talk about games?
Sorry i dared say the start procedure, or lack of, is annoying in AC...

For what it's worth false starts were just introduced on the PC side in 1.7, I'd presume they will be coming to consoles eventually and then you'll be able to put your car in gear before the lights go out.

True, but then why have people raved about codies finally putting a warm up lap in F1 2016? It's because we want immersion, I'm 40 years old and not ashamed to say when i'm playing PCars or AC i'm taking it seriously i'm using my track day knowledge and driving knowledge and i'm into it at that moment. Sad but true.

The Cannonball Run comes to AC! :)

Nice drift!! :P

This game is so demanding, so hard to get right but when you do, it's so satisfying!!

You can see how nervious i am as i "crawl" around Nords in the 488GTB, it's so real i'm almost thinking, "please don't crash it" Lol! Fantastic!

Thanks for the information. Anther refreshing and helpful and unsnidey reply from you. Your a credit to this place, if only more people (me included) could just be nice like you and not try to score cheap pot shots, the world, let alone forums would be a far more pleasant place!
Genuinely, i know the word genuine and forums don't always go together but i mean it mate.👍

Thanks mate. That's exactly what I'm trying to do here, just bring some sensibility. Arguing about things or flying off the handle doesn't do anyone any favors. I'm also not trying to defend any of the launch issues, they were to be expected but I'm confident they'll get sorted.

For those of us who have been on the AC train a while we knew there would be a bit of disappointment when the console crowd first got their hands on AC but we think that petrolheads will still be able to find lots to love (especially after some of the initial issues get sorted). If some decide AC doesn't offer what they want, hey no problem, it isn't for everyone. But for those willing to work through things I think they'll be rewarded and yesterday's chit chat stream gives you guys an idea of what to expect from Kunos and why some of us respect them like we do.
