@dopedog I remember these tinny arcades tunes (not the dodgy ones!) and put many 10 pence pieces in them!

Has anyone else actually driven Silverstone national in real life, I have driven a few times now and I know the tracks are laser scanned but I am sure there were more raised cambers even slight gradient hills coming across the apex's. The track seems very flat in game it could just be me as Brands Hatch Indy/GP is very realistic.

Do you guys in here think that the delay of GTS does AC a big favor over the coming months or do you think I will make almost no different because of the general audience (less hardcore) that is playing GTS? Will it make a difference for GTP?

I bought AC to play it while waiting GTS, and now I'm really glad to have it. So.. basically yes, I think some people will buy AC now that GTS is not so imminent. Considering the lack of racing games on PS4 (At least Xone has Forza)

If we assume at least another 6 months longer to wait, and yet still the limited "online race classes" game rather than a fully fleshed out Gran Turismo product...

Some will be fine with playing pCARS and AC to make the wait for GTS more bearable.
Some will give up on the Playstation and make the leap to PC.
Others, after car collecting games, will move over to Xbox/Forza.

Depends what your priorities are.

Marco replied to a comment yesterday that Career is one of the issues they've highlighted. Also surprised no one brought this up, but Stefano said he'd be interested in an open world AC.
I would absolutely love an open world Assetto Corsa. All they would really need to do is build an enormous layout, but that would require a new graphics engine because of the current (0,0) distance problem. It would have to be an enormous layout for it to be fun. Like, 10-15 times the size of Lake Louise. Oh, I'm getting something that better not last more than 4 hours or I'm going to need to seek medical attention!

I think if Assetto Corsa would have launched back in May, like it was supposed to, and GTS were delayed to whenever it's currently due to be released, THAT would have been huge for Kunos. Gran Turismo as a brand is so valuable. Seeing that it is the first GT release on the mighty PS4, I think it's going to move units -- better than GT6 did.

Kunos really shot themselves in the foot with this bungled European release. For as much as people are bragging about AC's good points, they're shouting a lot louder about the missing/broken things in AC and frankly, I don't blame them.

All I can say is that if you really like Assetto Corsa and want to see it live on consoles from now on, you better pray that it hits their sales targets. Stefano has repeatedly said they were doing this AC release to see if there is "an interest" from console players. I don't know what the make it or break it number is, but if they don't reach it - this will be the only AC release for consoles. :grumpy:

It's definitely positive for AC in my opinion, they'll have a lot of time to address issues and expand on features and DLC without additional competition. :)

Which, since we don't know an exact date for GTS, might be all the way up to holiday (November) season of 2017. :scared:

Well, if they want to hit sales numbers on a platform, they'll need to start catering for the audience on that platform. Which does not necessarily mean dumbing it down or simplifying stuff, but just bring in more of the stuff that's now missing, external app support, etc.

I asked the devs and I got an interesting answer. They say it technically could help AC but angry fans arent the best customers and the places of them keeping the game are low in other words it would easily be returned. Not something they want.

But is that something they are seeing right now (copies being returned a lot)? That would surprise me to be honest. Most of the time, people are very vocal on the internet, but still keep playing, unless the game has severe game breaking issues. The latter does not seem to be the case for AC.

Is very tempting because they have delivered to top notch products on their XbOne

Console people are mostly different from pc players. For the most part they demand a polished product. Like me, but the positive feedback from the community and the price pursuaded me. Yes I see where the issues are but for now I can look past that and see the little pearl that is rough around the edges.

I think if they fix stuff in a reasonable short time period they will be able to win a few extra players over. However the release of the Porsche packs could be a huge accelerator for AC.

Isn't that to them to turn that around. Look at what the Gran Turismo players have put up with over the last years and the pCARS players didn't have exactly an easy ride also.

13 Things I Think I Think About Assetto Corsa:

1) I guess playing racing games for the past 20 years means I can take a year off cold turkey, come back and turn laps with a half a tenth a few times in my first hour.

2) The physics are just as I remember them from playing on PC; top notch 👍

3) The last Novice 1 Time Attack in that E30 is tough, I have to really stretch out the turns at Magione, she won't go for any late-breaking, weight-shifting quick turns. Had a few off-tracks, it was lovely, seriously!

4) Here are my T300 settings:
FFB at 50%,
Curbs at 30%,
Road at 40%,
Slip Off
Off
Off

It feels pretty good I may play around with this later now that I my initial settings written down.

5) The music is nice, but the engine, dirt, tire and transmissions sounds are superior, so 0% music.

6) I put the AI on Easy for every event after seeing ISR's videos of unpredictable AI, I'm just leaving them at Easy until the patch comes. Plus I just need more seat time atm.

7) I've been playing Rocket League for basically a year solid (minus a couple months for BO: III) and so long as I don't do any long enduro events, I should be able to get some good seat time with the game. So long RL!

8) 100 cars is fine with me, especially if they all have unique handling <3

9) 30 track layouts isn't great, but a good start!

10) I'm using CSR Elites with my CPX adapter going into my T300, everything worked perfect from the moment I started in AC. Something I wasted hours upon hours upon hours with in PCars and why I stopped playing it (along with only having enduro events left).

11) I didn't have to go spend $2,000 on a CPU + Triple screens to enjoy AC, my $400 PS4 and 46" TV looks awesome. I saw no graphical issues yet.

12) Liveries would be cool, but I only see the hood of the car anyway, no biggie.

13) Lastly, I had everything but ABS off. I think having TCS on may help for that last Novice 1 event....EDIT: Yep, TCS on, passed it first try today.

Yes, the Porsche DLC will be a major accelerator. :)

Isn't that to them to turn that around.
It is, but statements from Kunos themselves that they "couldn't care less" about what console users expect from AC don't bode well IMO.

That would be true (and not just console games either), but I hope were not going to take that for granted and accept that. No developer should get a free pass for this.

Yeah, no free pass, but I've honestly come to expect it so I don't get to worked up when I new game drops and it has some issues. If the devs react appropriately to the issues then I stick with them, if they don't then I say adios. Thankfully most respond well and eventually prove themselves, SMS and PD are the only ones I've had to swear off so far.

Do any console games come out in a polished state any more? I don't follow them and only ever played GT on my PS3 but seems like every game I've read about in the last few years comes out half baked and takes months of patching before resembling the product on the package.

I actually just commented on that in someone's status update: Forza does.

FM6 released in exactly the state it was advertised in. There were a few minor issues at release — the Shelby GT350R had a subdued exhaust note (since patched), tuning certain small cars gave them a massive advantage in terms of PI (since patched), and some tracks had ill-defined limits (two patches have still not quite fixed that, but it's better now than at launch).

The game has a steady stream of DLC car packs lined up — which I'm completely fine with, since they've all brought all-new cars to the game — as well as two expansions (Porsche and NASCAR, which both came with new tracks as well). But they are feature-complete at launch, and quite polished-feeling.

That's been the biggest eye-opener with playing AC on both PS4 and XB1; the lack of polish. I put in a few more hours last night coming to terms with the pad before I bust out the wheel, and I'm blown away by how un-finished certain things are. Finishing a race is very strange; why am I suddenly teleported back to the pits, and then left to wait an indeterminate amount of time before seeing the results? I'm lucky I read the warnings to not back out until the results are up, or you lose them.

Well because many console players maybe expected a different kind of game. Not all console players read up on a game about how it actually is and what it offers. If I buy Dark Souls because someone told me it is Final Fantasy in the dark ages and then I discover I die every 2 minutes and it is very hard. Should I have the right to be upset with the developer or should the developer care? Should I go completely bonkers on a forum to express that feeling. Don't think so.

Good to know someone can get it right, but I guess it takes the might of Microsoft to get it done.

There's things like that on PC too, the finish of a race is pretty similar and unremarkable (the screen fades to black and you end up back in the pits until everyone finishes). The core of the game is good but it needs things like that polished before it's really great (IMO). They have done a lot of polishing in the last year but there's still plenty left that could use some attention.

Feels great! First drive was the 35hp Fiat, bad choice. It was terrible. But no worries, my REAL first drive was the 190 Mercedes and it was FANTASTIC! Felt great to jump right in with a game that I've never played, and have no learning curve. Everything just feels as it should. I even tried drifting later on, and it also feels very intuitive. This whole learning curve was much harder for me when I started on project cars.

As a console player I'd rather people considered there's more types than just the ones portrayed here. I take it pretty seriously with PCars / DiRT and now AC, I don't get much chance if any to do track days anymore, but i love driving and love racing and both PCars (set up right) and AC with my wheel can get a pretty close feeling. Its something i can do when the kids are asleep (unlike track days) its 'cheap'.
I also like to play Forza 6 a bit but with a pad, and still can find time for a bit of FIFA and other games etc. I love the xbox and been loyal since the 1st xbox but i know from mates PS4 that they are awesome too, i am happy to have Forza as the polished car collection game when the mood suits, but don't really mind AC's looks at all, it looks like some of the high end racing professional training sims i've been on to be honest in fact it 'looks' better.

Consoles suit me right now, I have considered a PC but the console is a wonderful piece of kit, the PS4 is a wonderful piece of kit as well. There is a lot of console players but not all can be called a 'type' like anything in life there's shades of grey as well.... no one would like it if us console players started generalizing the typical PC player would they? I mean some of them probably do shower at least once a week....;)

No, of course not, but that goes both ways. Though I understand the frustration of developers with customers sometimes (after all, for us this is just a game, but to them it's their baby/child that's being ripped to shreds/gutted), but that comes with the territory. Simply state what your intentions are with the issues (either fix or don't) and be done with it. There doesn't have to be all this emotion in it.

Depending of the FOV you are using the tracks will seem flatter, both in elevations and camber, than it actually his. You might not like driving with a 1/1 FOV, but you might want to try it and really see if the laser scanned Silverstone is as accurate as it should be.
I know AC at this point on console has a very limited FOV adjustment, I have now idea why that is, but maybe you have a big enough screen and you are driving close enough to it to enjoy 1/1 FOV even on console or at list get close to 1/1 FOV.

I hear ya mate. I took my "racing" as seriously as I could when I was stuck on consoles, I had a wonderful time and made wonderful friends. I was one of those crazy folk who had triple screens for GT5/6 if that tells you how seriously I tried to take it. :D

For sure I really hope that Kunos do respect 'console' players and respect that the tiny percentage who are venting frustrations and being rude at them are not the majority of us, I hate the idea of developers listening to the 15% shouting at them and then them treating the rest of the 75% with the same disdain.

Noticed something last night. Doesn't affect gameplay, but it was strange anyway:

In the tuning menu, the diagram for the 458 GT2 had the engine up front. At least, I can only assume it was the front, since the ride height was lower on that end, and it was running more camber. Didn't check other cars though, so is it a default diagram for every car?

yes, always the same diagram, the diagram is not representative of the actual car design. same for damage diagram.

Yeah it only shows the engine at the front, not game breaking but a bit silly.
