The AI difficulty on "females" is too hard to understand in my case.

Yeah, female difficulty is always set to 'alien'

I had been praying Assetto Corsa would kick butt on console. As a PC player, I have nothing to lose and only things to gain by its success on the console market. For months I was sacrificing chickens to the Computer Gods, asking for great sales numbers.

For some reason, when the numbers come out, I have a really bad feeling the numbers aren't going to be very great. :nervous: The delay and then f'ed up game that was published at release... Between here and a few other places I was seeing Assetto Corsa get criticized so much, and in many ways deservedly so, that so many Americans were saying "Oh man...So glad I didn't bother pre-ordering it. What a waste that would have been."

Now, I totally get the percentage of gamers who visit forums like these make up a small percentage of the game market - but it is still a sampling. When you hear Presidential Poll numbers, they have usually asked perhaps 1000 people and usually the actual numbers end up being pretty darn close. +/- 3 points in either direction, usually. Anyway, once Gran Turismo Sport comes out, if the physics are even halfway as good as Assetto Corsa's a ton of AC players will bail just because GT is GT. Even if GTS's "game" portion is lackluster, they'll get the numbers because so is AC's Career Mode!

And for the vast majority of console players interested in racing titles, but don't want to, or have the time to read forums like the ones I visit, if they read the Week 1 reviews the vast majority of those said "AC sucks! Controller support sucks! Career Mode sucks! AI is absolutely impossible to beat!" That last one is going to scare away a huge number of casuals. Oh yeah, and you can't put on your own aftermarket rims or put a turbo and awful sounding muffler on cars lowered down to the ground. More things casuals believe make a game good or not. :grumpy: I hope I'm wrong...Even if the numbers are good, but not great, that could be a huge win for Kunos -- I've got to go sacrifice another chicken.
let chickens be and let's hope kunos inserts the private lobbies before people forgets of the game existence.

That it's what me ah tons of others are waiting for.

But people can be bothered to wait just for a short time. See pcars. Most people didn't wait for the game to get better or be fixed, and s fast as ac may be great offline as a hotlap game, hotlappung is not what will bring some numbers; nowadays people pretend online to play competitively or with friends.

Add me to the list of season pass purchasers, as much as I do have issues with AC, I also want in to succeed and the additional cars and track will certainly make more of it for me.

Don't mention multiplayer trols... Last night full lobby GT3@Spa, everyone decent except one guy who kept waiting on every lap crashing anyone he could - so I saved video of his "action", just don't know how and where can I report him?

I've found some good races in the public lobbies, but the ratio of idiots is still far to high. At least the yellow flags do give you a heads up that you need to watch out ahead, as they pick up 'track-side' lurkers as well as real incidents.

Now I just need to not run out of fuel just before the last corner, while leading.

The only thing that matters is whether sales are what Kunos expects and I think they don't expect AAA numbers. It was marketed as a niche title, so sales numbers will be like that, no sense in comparing them to GT, FM, PCARS or other 'big' titles, the numbers are just too different.

I doubt they will ever release those kinds of numbers...

Did they ever say how many copies were sold on PC?

Niche title :nervous: Do you mean title like Apache Air Assault, Birds Of Steel and IL2-Sturmovik : Birds of Prey by Gaijin Entertainment ? They are excellent games ( flight sim ) although I'm not sure if their sales number were great, I can't find used copies on those games mentioned in my city. What's surprising the publisher for IL2-Sturmovik is 505 Games. Birds of Steel has unique option of 3 level simulation level, from Simplified ( some called it arcade ), Realistic ( middle ) and Simulator, and it worked well for the game.

Ace Combat and HAWX on the other side is like FM/GT/Pcars to Gaijin offering.

I know what you're saying, but the trailers had that general GT style - nice music, lots of slo-mo, very very slick looking.

It doesn't communicate the very dry and stripped down 'feel' of the game, in the same way as the Dirt Rally stuff did, I think. I know it isn't clear-cut or anything, but for me, it seemed misleading.

This is not taking away anything at all from the driving experience, it's second-to-none, and I am loving it. I am merely talking about the general critical reception, and how that creates expectations in the punters of a sub-par experience.
I will try this too, see how bad I am!
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to complain about the console version of AC and I have no trouble with any of them. But anyone expecting a GT style game simply didn't do their research and has no legitimate cause to complain. I spent more time researching my latest purchase of a toaster than some people do in researching video games they are buying. Caveat emptor.

I doubt they will ever release those kinds of numbers...

Numbers on PC are well known. Last count 300k+

They just have to do something about the difficulty, i'm trying to reach 3th place on intermediant series 1, quick race Monza on easy with the McLaren MP4-12C, but i have no chance to achieve 3th place, 4th and 5th is the best i can do..
I'm not an expert with wheels and such, but when i played Project Cars i had the opponents skill on 65-70 with default controller settings.

I have a few buddies who get the game and others who do not. If you spend some time getting to know the car and the game you will love it.

All I ever wanted was a proper sim for my PS4, and I got it in Assetto! I love the steep difficulty as it makes me try harder. I do agree, it would be cool to adjust the difficulty. I'm by no means fast but am learning a lot. I still love pcars too.

I love Assetto Corsa already :), but the difficulty have to be adjusted, i gave up Monca, but i reach the goal and can move on to intermediant series 2 :).

So has anyone come across an explanation why the drag strip is not in the console version? Having it, not having it won't change the game much for me but I was looking forward to it along with Trento. It bothered me a bit as it should be there, all be it implemented better. Marco gave a full explanation why Trento isn't in and it's completely understandable but don't understand the lack of dragstrip. I wish Kunos would make Trento available to those of us who can accept the inferior quality of it.

Yep fully agree. I did the special event at Brands Hatch in the lotus last night. I was very tentative trying not to make mistakes after a few restarts due to AI. Then about 2 and half laps into my final attempt everything clicked and I finally got how that car is meant to be driven and I got 2nd place. Was great fun and I always end up having to drag myself away from the game to go to bed. Every time I try a new car the game just gets better and it feels like a new game. When AI aren't being douchebags though.

So I was looking at the trophy list, and I'm like, this won't be to bad to platinum! Then I see 1 trophy where you have to get a gold in all special events. Definitely not platinuming this now
Hold tight, I expect that an adjustment to the AI difficulty levels to match the pc version will be forthcoming.

The difficulty is a problem, but for me the number 1 issue with AI is not the difficulty but the fact that any contact feels like you've been hit by the Titanic. There is no give in the AI cars and this leads to your race being over should contact be made.

Yeah I've been shunted a couple of times, and it does feel like you've been caught in a tractor beam.

Practice, practice and then practice more. The more time you put into the track the faster you will get.

Have any PC guys tried the console super AI from hell yet?

Would be interesting to see if you can handle it haha
I'm a PC time attacker and a console racer. I will admit to dropping difficulty to easy for the race where you take on the E30 but I got it done. Other than that it's alien all the way in quick races and race weekends. Brilliant fun.
