Having now played the game for a few hours, I have to say that the  effect isn't wearing of. With the exception of the countach at black cat (which absolutely tried to kill me) all the cars I've tried have been very drivable with out any tuning needed. I found that i very quickly got the feel for the car, with out flying off the track at every pedal input. So either the physics is so great and I'm just a better driver than I thought - or the physics is broken, to the degree that I absolutely love it. Either way don't change it :gtpflag:
One of the biggest draws for me is the way (mostly) all the cars can be driven without being setup. Obviously they get better if you tune, but the difference between AC's stock setups/general handling and pCARS' is huge. And I really enjoyed pCARS!

Remember the stanceworks 2002 in PCARS? I couldn't even drive out the pits with that stock setup :P

I didn't buy that pack but I've certainly had other cars that made me scratch my head and wonder if the devs themselves could even drive them well. I say kudos to players that could!

Special Events- are they supposed to be ridiculously hard? I mean, I tried the drift event with the E30 and I just can't keep the bloody thing on track. Bronze is 25000, I can barely get 500 without spinning off track or running out of time. Z4 GT3 at Imola- 1:48 for bronze. I'm running 2 flat. Sure I can make up maybe 5 seconds but 12?? Using a DS4. Is it mission impossible with a controller?

Just take the E30 out to the drift track in practice mode without worrying about a drift high score, and teach yourself how to drift smoothly. That car loves to drift, but depending on which sims you've drifted in the past it's probably just a case of needing to adjust your technique a bit. And it might also be a case of adjusting your FFB settings.

AC still has a little bit of a tendency for an exaggerated "snap" from weight transfer when exiting a drift, and some wheels can exacerbate this (T500 comes to mind). It used to be a lot worse than it is now, however, so it shouldn't be a problem to get round this with more care on the throttle control.

Drifting seams impossible with the ds4. When you turn, the wheels are almost 90 degrees so you just go straight.

But how does drifting work with a controller or is it nigh on impossible? The only 'sim' I have played which had drift events was Shift but it's not a true sim.

Just as I thought. I'll confess: I loathe drifting personally. The only games that should have it are arcaders like Need for Speed and Midnight Club. Shouldn't be in serious racers like AC.

Why, "sim drifters" or whatever you wish to call it need a game they can drift on where the drifting is somewhere realistic, for an extremely long time it was only live for speed which could do that, now a modern sim can take that crowd and on pc at least it has a massive drift following. I can understand that on console its not the case simply because there arent really enough drift cars or tracks for those users just yet.

The only down side is, that now I want to have my FFB setup in project cars to be, as smooth and detailed as AC. And I know it'll taKE me ages

Since FFB can only reflect what the physic is, even if they added an other 200 sliders it would still never be like AC, the only way to have smooth and detailed like AC is to drive AC and leave PCars to rest on the hard drive, the more you drive AC you will find PCars was OK to spend time in between GT6 and AC, but that as a SIM it leaves much to be desired. There is a before and after AC, but for some it takes a little bit more time to realize it, but we all get to that point eventually that AC is just more satisfying.

sorry, my bad. Didn't read your question properly.

Drifting in AC with a wheel is a joyous experience. Once you get the hang of it, you can really appreciate the physics and the tyre model. It's very analog in loss and gain of grip, you get clear cues telling you about weight transfer and grip situation. Really fun.

I'd say AC is the first sim I've actually enjoyed drifting*, obviously with the wide array of road cars. I absolutely love taking out road cars and hanging the tail out. Unlike games such as GT or Forza you can choose to drive smoothly or choose to initiate the drift (by backing it in and booting it) in a manner which appears to correspond very closely to watching YouTube videos of people drifting these supercars in real life.

(*LFS is the other PC sim with a very natural drifting feel, but I never got into it)

Once I shook off the GT bad habits, I've found driving in AC relatively "easy" because I get the information from the game that I need to be able to know what is happening with the car. I never have to guess about what is happening and why, especially when I make a mistake. Adapting to new cars also becomes easy. Keep in mind easy =/= fast, that's a different can of worms.:D

I'm glad that they fixed the thrustmaster wheel support. That's one of the reasons i stop playing for awhile. Some of the cars i used would just go from left to right even though i was holding the wheel steady. So good to them on fixing that. Also why are people wanting to drift all the damn time on online? Not to mention it seem like every room is dead. What's up with that?

Maybe the majority players online prefer drifting ? and for dead rooms, I think region lock plays a part, you can only see players from your region ... not many apparently :(

Yeah.. it is very sad. I found 1 guy racing online this morning and it was a track I am not good on at all. He gave me all the time in the world to keep up but got bored and left. (Nords- Endurance GT3)

I just submitted a ticket to 505 asking about server configuration requests for the console people since we can't customize them ourselves. The response was to just post it on the forums, so I did. http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...ms-way-to-request-their-configurations.37635/

Really needs some variety - basic things would go a long way to get people to race online again.

Just something i wanted to share... did you notice the sparco gloves that were introduced with the latest update? This might be a rather stupid thing to say but i think theyre great. I just saw the GT Sport footage from the PSVR launch trailer and the driver wears fancy gloves, too. It reminded me of AC instantly. The grey gloves from the launch version looked so plain and boring. I think it was a good decision by Kunos to team up with Sparco.

Well, at least that's one area where the console guys got a feature before the PC guys (we still have plain gloves/suits). :sly:

I could have swore that my e30 drift was 100,000 and the bronze for z4 at imola was like 1:42. I gave up on even trying the special events (aside from quick races) because I think they are impossible for the average joe

Just checked the imola event, I was wrong it is 1:48 for bronze, 1:45 for gold. But still I think I tried that and was still nearly 4 or 5 seconds from bronze. Also checked the trophies list and there are people who have gotten gold on all special events

I've felt the same way. I love the setups but even third place on these is way ahead of my best time.
