Ha! The eternal quest for interesting racing on public server, never to be reached but always promise! One as to keep the faith even though the evidence tells us it is never going to happen! Expecting anything else than mayhem is madness, no wonder they rage quit, they Are insane, remember what insanity is?
Doing the same thing again and again hoping for a different result.

Public lobby "Rammers/maniacs/psychos/general idiots etc etc get the "Kimi" treatment whenever they try and have me off the track..........

"Read my lips"

What was truly amusing well more of a long chuckle while glancing in my rear mirror on the first corner as we were in the Abarth 500 cars. Must have counted 8 cars at least that flew off track sideways or 180s and 360s on Imola in the first turn. While the other 4 spun about trying to get off the grass and still crashing into each other. I think only 4 of us made it around the track on the first lap.

It got me thinking how is this possible as they are putt putt cars. Then of course they all flew off track again coming down hill to the two right handers.

There are exceptions. We have great racing every Friday night in a public server, we get the occasional jack ass but for the most part it's been fine.
Yes when you organise it, get a group of friend every Friday night, that will work, access random server not so much.

If Pyschologists and Sociologists haven't studied this behavior they certainly should. They could write volumes on the subject. "First Corner Madness: Win or Quit"... That seriously seems to be the attitude of 80% of online racers who aren't friendly, chatty, have any friends to meet online. They get onto a grid and they need to win the race in the 1st corner...get to that front position! I haven't been a part of the online racing community long enough, especially since I spend the vast majority of my time offline, but I wonder if this type of behavior was multiplied substantially by people playing games like Gran Turismo where once you get ahead of the AI you're assured a win...I don't know. Just a thought. I know that I learned some bad driving behavior when I first started with GT6. Dive bomb on the inside and you'll get past the AI every time. Of course, if you try that with real people you cause total mayhem. I changed my ways immediately once I started going online.

It is funny in some ways. There definitely has to be that component of needing instant gratification. The spoiled brat syndrome. Or even if someone tries to rationalize it by saying, "Well...I don't have much time. Why should I sit here for 9 minutes waiting for the race to finish? I'd rather go start another race while I still have time!!" except, then that idiot spends 15 minutes looking for a server/room/race to begin elsewhere.

ALB123, what I usually hate about the first corner against strangers but it is happening less and less. They try to use your car as a braking tool. Though most time Assetto Corsa's physics doesn't always play to how they think it should work in their ideology.

I also love how this game unlike others if you hit the grass dependant on where and how much, you can kiss your pace goodbye. Thats if they haven't spun by then while braking or too much acceleration. Or as well if the weight transfer hasn't violently caused snap oversteer.

Every other type of game you could keep your pace and grip while on the grass.

I think it's pretty simple. Some people just look at it as a game for fun, and normally in a game if you screw up you just hit the reset button and start over. Some of them probably aren't even aware of the concept that some people on the grid are taking things very seriously. Doesn't necessarily mean they're all spoiled brats (though some surely are), just means they have different priorities. The other group of people take it seriously and approach it like they would a real racing event, fight through the first lap and see things to the end. Some of them, like me, don't even really care about winning as long as they have some good, close battles throughout the race. Obviously the two groups don't mingle well. :D

I think you guys are going too deep into this; they're probably just kids :sly:

And this. :sly:

Your the one who invited me.

Hey, we all make mistakes on occasion. See you tonight at Vallelunga? :D

I know we all have our own horror stories of being on public rooms/servers where the people are just idiots on purpose. Usually, if I'm going into a public server without a single person I know I try to use the session as just practice to keep pace. I've done such little racing in the last couple of years that I'm actually a little nervous now when I do hit the track because I hate being the guy who's crap driving causes a major incident. I'm quite rusty driving on someone's rear bumper will confidence. I should be practicing my racing much more. Against people, I mean...not just AI.

Have you ever tried Enthusia ?

@Donnced have they set a date for you guys getting Porsche Pack 2?

Hi!

Nope they didn't.. The only thing they said on 16th December was this:

"The Porsche Pack Vol 2 DLC for console will now launch early January, on the same day as the Red Pack DLC. We don’t have an exact date to share at this moment in time, but they're coming and we cannot wait for you guys to check them out. We are heading into submission this week and will give you an exact date of launch as and when we receive it."

So...if they submit the update and DLC pack the end of that week.. And that the submission process can take up to 2 weeks in sony & Microsoft.. It should be launched next week if they didn't reject the update..

Ahhh...Hey, at least the Red Pack is finally coming too. So, that's pretty cool. Awesome...I really hope they come in right away in January. I think they do updates on Tuesdays, but I'm not 100% certain they do...Or maybe that's just a PC thing?

I could see it being Tuesday 10 January. Working hours can be unusual over Christmas so who knows when the Sony team dealing with patch certification is back to work?

Getting Porsche Pack Vol II and Red Pack on the same day will be fantastic. The only issue I will have to decide on is in which order to try all the incoming automotive gorgeousness.

Formula 1 all the way!

If you try those formula 1 cars first everything else is going to feel like slow motion!

I haven't even driven the Ferrari SF15-T since the day I got the Red Pack. I think the other Ferrari open-wheel car in that pack might be faster, but the SF15-T has all those crazy systems and settings. I got dizzy and blacked out just trying to figure out how to drive the damn thing! :sly:

Ok first time ive ever played this ,on the first special event with the BMW road car,why the hell am i going into every corner on full lock and the tyres are just spinning and squeeling uncontrollably - and im 20 seconds off the bronze time.

Am i missing something here? Or is this just how the road cars drive? The BMW GT3 seemed decent to drive when i ran some hot laps.. (On PS4 pad)

From your description it sounds like your entering the corner too fast and you need to exhibit a bit more throttle control. Can you post a vid so we can have a better look as it's hard to know for certain from your description.

Maybe it's your steering input being too abrupt? Progressive steering input gives the best results.

I can't seem to find the post, but this week there was someone posting here that also bought AC on consoles, and he had to tweak the pad settings a bit but said afterwards it felt pretty good.

So if you are that person and you read this, share your new pad settings please :P

The closest ive come to playing a proper simulation is Pcars....and obviously this is a lot more hardcore. So il have to change the way i drive hehe. Just attempted the special event at Imola in a Z4 GT3,and i was TEN seconds off the bronze - i take it this game is a little on the hard side?

Oh cannot wait for that to pop on the F1 rim.
