Sounds are rather odd in AC, im not sure what they use to record the sounds, you get cars like the Mclaren P1, M4, Yellowbird etc that sounds literally exactly the same as they do in reality(p1 from youtube, other two from actually sitting in them). IMO Forza has a similar problem, some of its sounds are pretty good, others are just flat out horrid. There are rumors that sounds are being re-recorded for all cars that came out before 2015 as they had a different recording method back then which just isnt as good as the current one. In terms of replays AC should be the best out there because fmod supports the doppler effect and wave warping, nothing else supports that, of course the tech can be good but if the recordings such then well its gonna sound bad anyways.

Im glad they didnt go the pcars route and preamp the hell out of it so the sampling sounds like a mess and the low bitrate coming pretty easy to notice.

I quite like the direction of AC's sounds. Unlike a lot of other games it sounds natural and not exaggerated. First time I drove the P1 it was an ear-to-ear grin moment. It's exactly the same as watching Chris Harris' triple hypercar test :D Some of the slower road cars sounds a bit flat, but maybe that's just how they are in real life. The race cars sound good (C7R is another gem) and none have obvious wrong samples (compare the Sauber C9 to the one in GT for example :yuck:).

Sounds are good in AC, but they sound a bit muted in general to me lately. Especially when coming of Raceroom :dopey:
At least they did get the samples right so all cars sound like their real life counterparts. Not like in PCARS were a lot of the sounds are copy pasted from one car to the next, depending on which engine format it has.

Well, I like what I'm reading so far. Saw PCARS in action on a friend's PS4 and they sounded flat and a bit too loud to me. Hardly any detail there except for the exhaust pops and transmission whine.

It is great that Assetto Corsa is coming to PS4. Pcars is really buggy but i still had my share playing it for over half a year.
Assetto Corsa is definitely better than Pcars (I wish Race room racing would be released on consoles because it is even better than Assetto Corsa)

I'm glad to see the digital pre-order up for PS4. I'll wait for more details to be released and hopefully place the order a few days before June 3rd to get the three cars.

@EmArA I too would love to see RaceRoom come to consoles. I've enjoyed loads of YT videos featuring it and always thought it looked like a really good racer.

RaceRoom looks like a good game indeed, but I think is highly unlikely that it will ever come to consoles, apparently licensing works differently for PC-only games & multi platform games.

I imagine, then again isn't Raceroom free?

According to S3S it's not impossible, but not at all likely.

You get a few cars and a couple tracks for free, the rest is al-a-carte (similar to iRacing but not as expensive).

Hello all it has been a while. In a few videos I've seen, the chase camera looks like it pivots around the car rather than being locked to the rear bumber. Is this adjustable or has there been any word on the camera pivot being changed? I'm having trouble finding reliable info on AC for the ps4.

well with Youtube's 2016 compress algorithm everything looks the same. It eats high res textures like its going out of style.

Seriously its at the point where 2015 1080p videos look better then 1440p videos, bit rates are shocking.

someone at kunos cant count.

currently right now there are 101 cars. with the japanese pack that goes up to 112, launch pack adds five more cars so 117.

pre order dlc takes away 3 cars.

So 114, its over 90 but it would make more sense to just say over 110 cars in the first place.

FS7
Has Kunos confirmed Maserati & more real locations to be added to AC next month?
I'm looking at the AC pre-order page on the UK PS Store and it mentions Maserati & 15 real locations:

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en...ndle/cid=EP4040-CUSA01797_00-ACPREORDERBUNDLE
nothing new to be confirmed there unfortunately. well apart from the price which is £10 cheaper on amazon

Imo it would make sense to say "over 90 cars". 114 cars - 20 or so upgraded versions = a little over 90 unique cars.

True, i guess in this case its nice that they didnt pull a forza buy saying they have 460+ cars(actually around 380 unique models) or granturismo which adds an extra 300 or so cars from very minor changes or special paint editions.

Then again AC is getting the R34 GT-R so maybe we get many step versions for every midnight purple hue

The more I see AC videos, the more similarities I see between AC and PCARS.
Their colour palettes are very different so you can't be talking about visual similarity. In what way are they similar?

AC's car list is very good tbh. It's small but there's a wide variety (better than PCARS). The only padding I feel is from Lotus (so many Elises lol), but it's not even that bad and it's only 1 manufacturer.

The only car class I feel is missing is mid range (300-500 HP) 4WDs, but with the incoming R34 that should fill that gap (ideally an Evo or Impreza would be nice). Also modern LMPs, but Kunos seems more geared towards road cars.

Imo which one is better depends on player preference. For people who prefer road cars AC's car selection looks better, for someone like me who prefers race cars and cares more about racing classes than specific cars/makes PCars's car selection is better because it provides more racing classes than AC.

BTW, one of the reasons I'm interested in getting AC is the selection of Lotus cars. :)

It also boils down to how they feel on your wheel. I prefer racing cars to street cars but I'll take a great feeling street car over a crappy feeling race car any day. In my experience any street car in AC feels many times better than any race car in PCars. Not sure if it was just due to the overly confusing FFB settings but PCars always felt terrible to me and there were too many times the cars did something or behaved in a way that made me say "WTF was that??" so it's been banished from my system.

Yes, fingers crossed that it releases in a state closer to that of Dirt Rally rather than PCars. I'll be looking forward to opinions of AC on PS4 from all the early adopters.

Yes in todays gaming world the DiRT release has been incredible hasn't it, a joy to play and something so simple as being able to pause and bring up menu so you can fiddle with FFB settings on the fly, remarkable.

I just rage uninstalled and deleted game save of PCars for the millionth time as yet again found myself getting fed up with the FFB, i'm now just going to use defaults on all cars as fed up with fiddling and getting one car great then finding its ruined 5 others..

AC can't come soon enough as eager to see what the FFB is like as all i hear is good things. I even considered setting up my TX Spider with PCars again as the best time i had with PCars was before i got the TX Italia full fat FFB wheel, DiRT rally has shown me how silly some of the things the wheel does in PCars, to the point I think PCars physics are just wrong if thats what they do to the wheel.

AC better not let me down.

I agree. But then there's the M4 and it's custom exhaust counterpart.

Well, I seemed to have noticed the exact same kind of exhaust flash effect in the two games. Both games seem to have the "trans whine" sound too loud and there's not much depth or detail to be found as the engine revs higher or decelerates. It's quite generic for the race cars - they all sound too similar which is also something people complain about on the PCARS forum.

They have cars in them...............

As far as I know, there are nine pre-order cars. They're part of the "Prestige Pack" available at Gamestop, Amazon etc. but I still haven't understood if they're going to be available for those who would like to get a digital copy of AC.
