So it is "easier" than Pcars?
To setup everything yes, gameplay and driving wise no although you have aids if you want of course. Default setups are way better though. Some cars were straight up undriveable out of the box in PCARS.

I'd say every car in AC handles like you would expect it's real life counterpart does.

Sometimes I wonder what SMS were thinking with their default setups. I found almost all to be bad in one way or another, but on the flip side it's given me new-found pleasure tuning them until I find them driveable. Really enjoy the progress from horrible to nice. I recently retuned the Formula A car as I disliked it a lot/couldn't drive it and now I'm having great fun with it, so the handling is there, just not out of the box for me.

I read there's no look-to-apex in AC, one thing I'm really going to miss from pCARS.

Anyone know if the Ferrari F80 Concept and the Ferrari F1 Concept will be in new game for PS4 and Xbox One console?

I see those 2 concept cars on Youtube videos for Assetto Corsa on PC version but not sure if those 2 concept cars will be in the console version.

Actually, I see many cars on Youtube for the PC version that are not on the car list. Like the BMW M6 GT3. Here is the direct Youtube link:

Where are they getting these concept cars and other cars that are not in the game?

Those cars are MODS ho people /users makes.
But they aren't official content of the game, so you don't gonna see them on the consoles versions.

Maybe the M6 GT3 can arrive as oficial content car if kunos get the license of it.

In a way yes, in another way no.

The tyre grip of cars makes more sense, you braking distances make sense, you go off a bit then you will be punished and grit will reduce your grip for several hundred meters after that. On the other hand the cars are more predictable and the ffb out of the box is more in tune with the car(apparently possible in pcars too after tweaking but i wasnt able to achieve that). Anyways as you can predict what the car is doing more easily you can drive more effectively especially on the limit when you understand the car.

I can go way deeper if i want but i dont wish to enter tl;dr territory and i will derail things.

The way i see it is that Assetto corsa is what Project cars wanted to be with the addition of cat jokes.

I just want decent AI, something that AC didn't have previous to the latest patches as far as I've read. Makes or breaks a racing game for me. Recent videos show the AI looks quite good. Consistency is where pCARS' AI was bad as they were overly aggressive in certain cars but great in others.

So how does the AI compare nowadays?

Yeah i read that the other night lol. I also read somewhere else that the AI has had their grip increased to make them more competitive but this may also give them unfair advantages if they stray from the racing line etc. I just want nice, close racing, something that I originally thought pCARS had but recently a lot of my races against the AI end up with one car tearing away from the pack, a la Forza, and you're only really racing the leader.

I'm also not a fan of the AI in pCARS where you could spend many awesome laps chasing a car down and as soon as you pass them they drop off into the distance instead of hounding you, but I guess they've been programmed to drop off when you overtake them.

Well for starters they have the same physics as you do, which the bots in PCARS didn't have giving them an unfair advantage at times. I need to test a bit more as i only did two races after the Red Pack was released, but i'm pretty sure the AI is better in all aspects. Got passed twice by them fair and square and they avoided every contact even in close combat with 3 aside going into a corner so that was nice.

Guys, two quick question:

Do AC have an option to use default setup configuration only on online gameplay? At Project Cars we had that option but did not work properly, since your car would get like 200l on fuel randomly, other times youd have 40l in the tank, so the system was totally broken.

What about the collision system? At PC, we have the "glue effect", that made cars glue each other on accidents.

These two issues made me drop the game.

^^ good questions! i would like to know that as well. hated doing pcars w/ a mate and always finding out one of us had a full fuel tank. the glue is also annoying too and doesnt seem realistic at all.

Thanks! It's enjoyable without a wheel?

Yes you can run fixed setup races and everyone will have the same setup.
The collision system is better than Pcars and no the cars don't stick together. The visual damage isn't modeled very well, but mechanically it is pretty good.

They did just recently acquire the license for it but I'd guess it will be some months before it makes an a
Don't be so quick to praise AC at the expense of PCARS.
A lot of changes in the latest list of changes in the AC changelog are things that are already in PCARS.

It's apples and oranges. A game can have loads of features but if the physics, ffb, and AI are rubbish those features are worthless. SMS tried to cram as many features into PCARS as possible with no consideration to whether they'd work as desired, or work at all. Kunos, for the most part, makes sure the features are working well and then introduces them when they're ready. I'll take a relatively bug free game that's light on features over a feature packed game that's full of bugs any day.

Thanks for the reply m8. Very good to hear that. I don't care a lot about visual damaged, i just need to be able to see the mechanical damage, something we also couldnt do in PCars, we can only feel. Sometimes in the small of contacts we kind of know the car is damage but does not have 100% sure since the game doesnt show us the graphics.

I wonder if the console version will have all the overlays that the PC version has. I love seeing laptimes, gaps and every little information from the others drivers during the race, something that we lack on Gran Turismo, for example.

AC flashes a little graphic of a car on screen and the damaged area will be highlighted. Sometimes it's still a bit vague as to what was actually damaged though, you may see that something in the left-rear was damaged but won't know for sure exactly what was damaged (but for the most part that information isn't usually important).

I presume you'll get most/all of the stock on-screen apps, though they will probably look slightly different on console. Some of the overlays/apps you've seen might have been mods though, there are a lot of those out there that give you different/more detailed info than the stock apps but I think the stock apps cover most of the important bits. One great thing, and I'm not sure if you'll be able to do this on console, is that you can move the on-screen apps to whatever location you want. I put most of my apps on the side monitors so my center monitor stays relatively clutter free.

I certainly hope we can customise the HUD and move the graphics round. I've got quite used to the clean look of pCARS' screen as it lets you put all your HUD elements in the bottom corners out of the way. A nice touch.

Can you imagine .......

I have confidence in Kunos avoiding such issues as they are held in such high regard that any bad press garnered by such issues would of course only be detrimental to the studio's reputation.

We hope. But in the game of software there's always the chance for hidden problems to pop up at the worst time. They seem like a competent bunch though so hopefully they have it sorted. I'm sure there will be a few small issues, there always are, but they will be quick to address them (they've already released three fixes since the 1.7 release).

We'll have to wait and see about bugs on the console version, but I'm sure there will be people complaining that AC has a low number of cars & tracks, there's no in-game credits & car collecting, cars that are listed in the website aren't in the game, etc.

Could someone update on this game?

Official release date
Official console car list
P1 In-Game or DLC?

:)
26 August.

Car list is apparently everything bar the recent Red Pack.
http://www.assettocorsa.net/cars/

LMP1 such as the TS040-HYBRID and the R18 e-tron quattro are in development while presumably we will see the Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 join the roster too. The Sauber Mercedes C9 is stock content and while it may not be strictly LMP1 it is a super fast sportscar.

I still get the FFB grinding almost every time I play the game, always during practice when I return to pits to tune then as I get back on track the wheel goes crazy. THEN I return to pits and the jack guy doesn't let me out! So I have to select to pit again (even though I'm already in there) then ask to leave again. Classic. And I've just had about enough of the open wheel AI. Horrific!

But still no regrets buying it, it's been great, but now looking forward to not having to deal with that madness any more and have a more civilized time of it.

919 is confirmed, as to which year i dont know.

The URD PX1 Darche was in the porsche trailer which is based off the le mans spec 2015 car however devs said thats a placeholder. Highly doubt its the 2016 car due to them not wanting to give off development secrets etc

Thank you so much Scuderia Paul :D Ferrari and the P1 already make this game a must buy for me:)

Yeah I also had a love/hate relationship with pCARS - man when I had a full practice/qualify/race event go through and no one had grinding, or loss of FFB and no hacks joined the room.. man such awesome racing, the way it felt and how the game actually made it important to heel-toe and drive correctly... Yet I spent so much time on the FFB.. I got caught up on the official forms going down the rabbit hole for a very long time, but when I finally got it right for my few favorite cars it was nice. Then I would get the grinding, loss of FFB, or an invisible wall during the race after going through practice and quali and I would be sad..

I am now playing Dirt Rally. The ratio of driving time vs setting up FFB, UI/FOV, and resetting after bugs is so much better, as in the game was basically load up and play. This made life so much nicer and I don't even have pCARS installed anymore. Sure I would like to have FOV adjustment and some side by side tarmac racing but really I am not missing anything else.

If AC can bring me the quick turn around from setting up FFB, UI/FoV, controls, etc.. that Dirt Rally did yet give me the hard core road racing feeling that pCARS did.. I will be on cloud 9. I still will be a mid to rear pack racer but a happy one.
