Yeah I also had a love/hate relationship with pCARS - man when I had a full practice/qualify/race event go through and no one had grinding, or loss of FFB and no hacks joined the room.. man such awesome racing, the way it felt and how the game actually made it important to heel-toe and drive correctly... Yet I spent so much time on the FFB.. I got caught up on the official forms going down the rabbit hole for a very long time, but when I finally got it right for my few favorite cars it was nice. Then I would get the grinding, loss of FFB, or an invisible wall during the race after going through practice and quali and I would be sad..

I am now playing Dirt Rally. The ratio of driving time vs setting up FFB, UI/FOV, and resetting after bugs is so much better, as in the game was basically load up and play. This made life so much nicer and I don't even have pCARS installed anymore. Sure I would like to have FOV adjustment and some side by side tarmac racing but really I am not missing anything else.

If AC can bring me the quick turn around from setting up FFB, UI/FoV, controls, etc.. that Dirt Rally did yet give me the hard core road racing feeling that pCARS did.. I will be on cloud 9. I still will be a mid to rear pack racer but a happy one.
We'll really have to see what bugs the console version brings.... I mean personally I've only driven the PC version of pCARS (but as a WMD1/2 member I drove it plenty during alpha) and I've never encountered the nasty issues mentioned above. Bad console ports are hard to predict from experience of the PC version.

In terms of what to do in AC: remember above all that it is best at being a driving simulator. AI and multiplayer have improved remarkably since the original launch, but that doesn't mean either aspect is perfect. Most of the multi hundred hours I have in AC have been hotlapping against my own ghost, pretty much the same as my use of GT5/6. AC gives you less cars than GT, but they are all so clearly unique and interesting, and the same goes for the laser scanned tracks.

You really can just lose yourself for hours and hours running laps of the superb laser scanned Nordschleife, and I'm sure loads of people will be doing that in the console versions. I also expect public lobbies running the tourist version of the track in practice mode, so people can just hang out around the Nordschleife just like in real life on one of the tourist days.

Anything more (awesome AI, good netcode and lobbies structure for multiplayer racing) is an extra you can hope for but isn't guaranteed.

We'll have to wait and see about bugs on the console version, but I'm sure there will be people complaining that AC has a low number of cars & tracks, there's no in-game credits & car collecting, cars that are listed in the website aren't in the game, etc.

With the choice of cars in Assetto Corsa it is already ok at least for me ...... they have for example the Shelby Cobra in it ....... creazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy , it will be my first car to pick up that is for sure .

About the tracks ... hmmmmmm ...... there Asseto Corsa can do some work , I've have been reading that they can/will make 3 tracks a year .

If Assetto Corsa gonna be good ( this we still have to see regards bugs ) on ps4 than I wouldn't be surprised if IAN BELL (under another nick name) or a fanboy of Project Cars would come here to place some negative word about Asseto Corsa .

I'd think he'd have better things to do really. I'm sure no developer would wish ill will on their contemporaries. Good games are for the betterment of the industry and all that!

As for track count, yes it's probably the big negative point for newcomers, but that's what happens when you port a game to consoles that was made to be PC mod-friendly. Hope to see more tracks over the coming months and perhaps more from non-EU countries. There's at least 7 or 8 of my favourite tracks from pCARS so that's a start. Could do with some Oulton Park action though!

Make sure your health insurance is paid up, that car is homicidal and will kill you to death many times! :nervous:

As far as I can tell, since their official launch a little over 18 months ago, Kunos has been the most prodigious track maker out there in sim racing. Laser scanned versions of the Nords, Barcelona and Red Bull Ring plus Zandvoort and the fictional Black Cat County.

Like @BrandonW77 says above, the Cobra will not only try and kill you, but it will also run you over and do a burnout on your face after it does. It's a real beast on those vintage tires:lol:.

Do you guys know how to get the premium package for AC on PS4 outside US or Europe? I live in Hong Kong and I don't seem to see this edition of the game appear on PS store. I surely don't want to miss out the seven cars, when there aren't many to drive...

I always wonder why modding isn't a common feature in consoles. UT3 had mods on PS3 almost 10 years ago so I don't think it's a hardware problem.

I suppose the mods for Fallout 4 on consoles prove it can be done, although I gather there's some difficulties getting them properly working on PS4. Too many constraints on consoles.

I played for 3 years Grand Prix legends .
Let me say it in this way ........be smooth on the gas with the Shelby I think ;)
With this car I'm first gonna go for the Mugello track .
Also very curious how the feeling will be with my T300 RS wheel .

I'm not sure how the two games compare, but I anxiously await your report on the Kunos Cobra once you finally get to drive it! :D It's tameable, but demands gentle inputs and lots of finesse, but even then it's always lying in wait to murder you to death. :nervous: Same goes for the GT40.

All take the challenge BrandonW77
In Grand Prix Legends it was like driving on ice but fun if you could controll the cars .
My favourite car was the Brabham BT24 1967 in GPL .
If I think about it again ... all those nice tracks like that there where in GPL Rouen , Zandvoort (done by Ginetto ) , Kyalami , Mosport Park , Old Spa and so many more without those stupid chicanes in it .

That's true. bad porting and updates on consoles is an issue, not just with pCARS. On Dirt Rally we lost the use of Thrustmaster Wheels on ps4 for a week or so..

Lots of hours running laps solo on pCARS is how I played the game for a long time. I am for sure looking forward to that on AC with all I have heard about how it feels and the cars handle. Limited number of cars is no big deal to me. I drove mostly the same few cars on pCARS and GT6 as well. :)

I'm still confused the pre orders, if I preorder on psn do I got 3 cars or the full 9 cars? How difficultis it to make this so unconfusing.
You'll get the three cars that are in the description.

Pre-order now and receive the Performance Pack DLC which features the Ferrari 488 GTB, the Audi R8 V10 Plus and Corvette C7 Stingray, as well as an exclusive Assetto Corsa theme.

26 August.

Car list is apparently everything bar the recent Red Pack.
http://www.assettocorsa.net/cars/

LMP1 such as the TS040-HYBRID and the R18 e-tron quattro are in development while presumably we will see the Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 join the roster too. The Sauber Mercedes C9 is stock content and while it may not be strictly LMP1 it is a super fast sportscar.

The car list can't be right. On the art cover for this game from Amazon, there is a picture of the Ferrari FXX K.

There seems to be many cars missing from the car list shown above.

It is correct, in fact they just updated it last week. The FXX K is not in the game yet, nor are the 488 GTB, the Praga, or the Audi hatchback, they are all being released with the console version.

You know what kinda stinks? The fact that we have to wait for the 4 cars you just mentioned, @BrandonW77! Now, I don't mind the fact that console players are getting all of the cars we have for the base price of the game while we PC users had to pay for additional DLC packs. I'm glad they're giving console users those cars -- I want it to kick butt in sales, so the more the merrier. So, the least they could do is throw us PC players a bone and let us beat on a new Audi S1, 488 GTB, FXX K or Praga R1. Ya know what I mean? I'm sure it's probably due to licensing restrictions... At least I have my Aventador SV! :D 👍

I'm pretty sure Stefano said we'd probably get those cars a little earlier than the console release, so we shouldn't have to wait for much longer. Besides, we just got 7 new toys to play with! :sly:

I will always purchase the Dream Packs as long as they keep them basically with the same level of content they've been doing. If they said "$50 for a ZR1 and Laguna Seca", I would pass... but barring any craziness like that, I'm going to support Kunos as much as I can. This Red Pack, however, was probably the least exciting pack for me personally. It has the car I wanted most, the Aventador SV, and I like GT3/GT4 cars, but that's about it.

Yes, I have had some fun with the 250F's - they are absolutely insane if you push them! But the newer F1's will be collecting dust in my lower level garage, probably along with the Maserati SUV. The 250F's will end up down there as well, like my classic Lotus open-wheelers. This isn't a complaint. I can't expect every single DLC Pack to knock MY socks off. At least I also got Red Bull Ring to thrash around my cars. Mmm Laser scanned goodness! :sly:

What stinks is having to wait ages for the PS4 version to come out. Then I can convert what is a Time Attack sim on my PC into a race sim on PS4.

makes me wonder what will dlc's be like in 20 years time, oh pay £20 and stand in front of your screen while we bloody laserscan you. Are you short sighted, pay £20 and boom now you can see jack sh** in the digital world as well. Are you constipated, well pay £5 for this Ferrari SF35T and you will unload, everything.........

This little sentence let me scared. There arent lobbies for multiplayer?

How do you race online then? Matchmaking?

Online racing is a huge thing for me.

Are there any kind of online time trial event like at PCars and the seasonal events in GT?

Not sure how it will work on console but the way it works on PC you see a list of servers (aka lobby, room, etc.) that people have created with their desired car/track combo and you join which one interests you (providing it's not password protected). Not too different from Gran Turismo really, there aren't any "club" sections though.

There isn't any kind of matchmaking or time trial/seasonal events that I know of, but there are offline challenges that are always getting added to with updates. The netcode on the PC side has recently improved greatly, it used to have some issues but now it's quite good. The AI took a major leap with the 1.7 update too, and while I haven't raced it yet a lot of people are making good noises about how much better it is. Below is an example of two AI cars pulling a double overtake on the player at Monza and getting through the T1 chicane, pretty impressive if I do say so.

Nice AI behaviour!!! And respectful clean overtaking

That was unthinkable a few versions ago, so it's a pretty big improvement. There was a small update today that said it made their starts better and that was one area that needed improvement (was too easy to pick up several positions at the start). Stefano seems to always be tinkering with it and the AI quality has improved greatly over the last 3-6 months, hopefully that trend will continue.

Given that the PC version requires user hosted servers, and there's been no word on exactly how it will work on console yet (or at least I've not seen any), I'm taking the "wait and see" approach.

Seeing as user hosted servers aren't going to be feasible on a console I have to presume things will work in the same fashion as GT or PCars. That's just an assumption of course, but I don't think there's really any alternatives on console. The online multiplayer on PC is fairly basic so I wouldn't expect anything super fancy on consoles but all the important bits should be there and hopefully any console user can just create a room and go. Wait and see, for sure, but one would think there will have to be some kind of system for users to easily create their own server/room/lobby.

That's the kind of AI I want to race against. Real good, sensible stuff. I want pressure from AI I've just passed. Don't want to knock pCARS but that's behaviour you don't get in that game, and it's way too easy to pass half the grid from the lights (sometimes I do rolling starts just to stop this happening and I shouldn't really have to).
