I bet there is a lawyer out there that would love to here from any Fanatec owners that bought a wheelbase from the time Fanatec announced PS4 compatibility till when they said any future sales wont be compatible. Its a pretty clear case of false advertising.

I don't think Fanatec ever announced anything of the sort. Their wheels work in PC mode if I'm not mistaken.

I'd like to live in a world where people didn't sue other people for every little mis-step or perceived injustice.

I would like to live in a world where people don't just say what they want to get what they want.

It use to be on their website until their recent statement that any future wheelbase sales wont be compatible. Fanatec said Sony asked them to stop listing them as compatible.

Is there any proof that Fanatec knowingly sold wheels they claimed were PS4 compatible that were indeed incompatible? Or are we just jumping to conclusions based on a small amount of information and a perceived injustice? If they knowingly sold wheels that wouldn't work on PS4 then yes, a lawsuit would be justified. If they genuinely thought they would be compatible but then after the fact Sony changed something that made them incompatible, that's hardly Fanatec's fault. I don't know what the case is, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions based on a butthurt forum post.

I've no doubt it's out of their hands and it's the last thing they wanted, but they should have announced it long before now, not a week before the game's release. That's poor form.

Why's that? A week is still plenty of time to cancel a pre-order, nobody is out any money or time. If they waited until after it's released that could be poor form. Maybe they've been spending the last month working with Sony and Fanatec to figure out a way to get the wheels included and they just found out this week that no agreement could be reached? Maybe they did know for a while but didn't want to announce it sooner because they knew the internets would be flooded with butthurt? Could be any number of things that we don't know about, no point in jumping to conclusions just so we can point a finger at someone.

Anyone care to translate? :D Or just the main points he makes?

Loves the menus, says they are very intuitive
They can only show off 3 cars and 3 tracks pre release.
He likes the camera angles available.
Graphics are great, he hasn't noticed any hiccups, but hasn't tried online
Driving sensation is great, loves the physics and FFB
Laser scanned surfaces feel nice
He's surprised how good it feels and looks on console.
He recommends it to people that are still doubting
He likes the sounds, says on consoles they are the best
He thinks the aids are nice and progressive for newcomers

They listed on their website that it was compatible with the PS4. It hasn't been compatible to date and isn't going to be for the foreseeable future.

Cheers, dude. Top man 👍

You really need me to tell you why?
People have been waiting on this game for a long time. People who got their hopes up and pre ordered the game. If I was in that position I'd be seriously pissed off right now.
Releasing this info just 1 week before release is poor form. Kunos would've known about this for a long time. It's not about the money.
Do you work for Kunos or something? You're very quick to defend them to the death at very short notice.

New steering wheels?

Nothing stops people from using the default controller that comes with every console. It's not like they are delivering an unplayable game to some players. I agree that it would have been optimal to announce supported wheels earlier, partly because not knowing which wheels to buy has made it harder to prepare for release and the pre-order decision. Then again, it's not the end of the world to be warned seven days ahead of release.

Which of the supported wheels offer best value for the money?

Logitech G29. Because if it breaks they'll actually help you. I've heard too many bad stories from Thrustmaster to even consider it, no matter how good the product is. No amount of knocking on wood yadda yadda yadda

I have a TX wheel for more than 2 years and stil in perfect condition :)

I sold my Fanatec CSR wheel a few years back, because it was uncertain if the wheel was ever going to be compatible with the next gen consoles. Apparently it was the right decision.

They listed on their website that it was compatible with the PS4. It hasn't been compatible to date and isn't going to be for the foreseeable future.

And was this due to deliberate and intentional mis-representation on Fanatec's part or was it due to Sony not holding up some part of their agreement or changing something last minute that made them incompatible, was it some combination of the two, or some reason entirely different? You don't know, I don't know, no point in jumping to conclusions until we have facts.

Kunos would've known about this for a long time.

If you can provide facts that support this claim then you may have a case. But again, anybody can still cancel their preorder so no real harm is done other than some butthurt (which seems to be unavoidable anymore).

Nope, but I did get a bit of love from them on RD today even though they supposedly hate all their customers.

I just absolutely abhor the current trend of our society to quickly convict and persecute people or companies with little to no facts. As you can see from the first part of this post I share the same view for this attitude when it's applied to other companies. It seems like we revel in pointing out other's shortcomings and want badly to hate on everyone. There's no more benefit of doubt, there's no more innocent until proven guilty, and on top of that it seems like everyone is looking for any excuse to be pissed off at someone or about something. It's silly, it's unproductive, it's a waste of time. And seeing as how I've been dealing with the same crap at work all week I've just reached my fill of it, and since that's obviously affecting the tone of my posts I'll sign off from the forum for today so you guys can continue your witch-hunts in peace.

Read the Fanatec blog post from March 2016, it explains what happened:
https://www.fanatec.com/forum/discussion/187/playstation-compatibility?
The key issue is that we still have no clear date on when Fanatec and Sony can get things finalized.

Secondly we can assume that licensing a new wheel can allow Fanatec to bring back the others as "in game compatible", but right now we are just guessing. As all of us know, Thrustmaster was able to do this (T100/500 support was even in Driveclub, and is in F1 2016 and AC despite not being PS4 licensed), but Logitech wasn't, and only the G29 is supported on PS4.

Anyone know if the Xbox play anywhere scenario would allow for me to then use my CSR via PC? I am not familiar with how it works, sorry if explained already.

Does someone know if It's possible to make the steering animations much smoother when playing with a pad? Is there a way to reduce the incredible speed of the arms' movements?

At 14:00 in the vid above, that's what I'm talking about.
EDIT: It should be possible as I watched other people playing with a controller and things are MUCH better than that. Example:

It doesn't have to be deliberate or intentional. They claimed PS4 compatibility and they don't have it. They had no agreement with Sony and yet they still went right ahead and listed it anyway. How do I know they didn't have an agreement? Sony couldn't of backed out of a signed agreement without Fanatecs ok. If anyones butthurt its because Fanatec bent them over.

Edit: I don't know what happened here. please click to read.

So you kissed their ass and they gave you love, I'm happy for you. xx

I don't need to provide to provide facts, I don't have a case.
Only a fool would believe that Kunos didn't know about the loss of Fanatec support long ago.

I don't want to rag on them, I'm just gutted for my two racing buddies that use Fanatec gear on their PS4's, they've had their pre orders in for ages, and we've been looking forward to racing on AC together for months now.

They obviously wouldn't have bothered if they'd known it was a no go from the start.

How come Dirt Rally and Project Cars can use Fanatec products but AC can't?

Nice spot!

On the plus side: allowing reviewers to discuss the game and even share aspects of it, this soon before the release, is encouraging. It'd be much more concerning if 505 were keeping a lid on things until after it was in the hands of the public.
I read someone claiming on Eurogamer that there is an embargo until the 26th. That ties into the day 1 patch so if true the patch must be significant which sounds promising.
