I'd like to live in a world where people didn't sue other people for every little mis-step or perceived injustice.

O/T I wouldn't. "The Man" can get away with murder as it is...or frame someone for it... Steve Avery. All we have sometimes is a tiny fragment of hope with having a chance to right wrongs... Careful what you wish for.

Well this news sucks about Fanatec wheels on the PS4. I just wonder if the wheel will work in PC mode like it does on PCars. Not cancelling my pre-order yet....

its a bit of a shame you can't adjust the fov height or use a 1-100 slider for ai difficulty.. i have a few random questions regarding the game.

does the console version have no indicator of tyre temp and wear?

what makes certain rims on the t300 comparable or not comparable in games? i am going to be getting the 599x rim, which is comparable, but on f1 2016 that t300 rim is not supported.

1-100 is too much detail for AI. Can you really see a difference between 58 and 64? I use it in 10-point increments so it's more of a percentage. 70% for Amateur, 80% for Intermediate, 90% for Advanced, and rarely do I use 100% for Expert. PCars is just too aggressive for that. They also rarely show signs of fatigue, they maintain that pace for the whole race and it's tough to keep up.

FOV, yea I'd like more options there but I didn't ever mess with that stuff in PCars outside of forward and back. Does Assetto Corsa have a look-to-apex though?

That's a bit odd. All the buttons are on the 599 rim, it's just they are coloured and not the usual XO etc... so you have to remember where they all are.

I did wonder with PCars the difference with 60% AI and 62%, I thought is this another SMS hyperbole, truth is it does work and SMS should be applauded for that.
I still play PCars a stupid amount, I prefer it now its all calmed down and I no longer go onto official forums, a remarkable game, for me AC i want just to see what the fuss is about with the talk of FFB, really excited to see and just to have another driving game that is sim centric.

that is exactly what i thought. when i read the f1 wheels it only showed base t300, ferrari gte, ferrari f1, and maybe one other.

no, i didnt see a look to apex view in the gameplay videos.

Yeah me too, it's really great at a lot of things but held back by the well-documented glitches. I'm quite surprised by the omissions I'm hearing about with the console version of AC such as:

Telemetry. Does it exist on console?
Wheel calibration. Again, not in?
Option to move HUD elements around screen.
Seat up/down/forward/back

All things pCARS has made me appreciate.

They're just some things that immediately jump out at me from a game that I thought would be actually heavier on the sim-side. Seems like some things have been streamlined on console, but thankfully not FFB and physics by all accounts.

EDIT: I'm just speculating here, don't mind me!

How come Dirt Rally and Project Cars can use Fanatec products but AC can't?
Same reason as Codemasters, after supporting Fanatec in DiRT Rally and F1 2015, has had to remove support in F1 2016.....

Clearly Sony is clamping down. Probably due to Fanatec deal issues?

Someone posted this on the official forum, sounds legit:

"You might have already noticed that we have removed the icons to show the PlayStation compatibility on our website. So what does that mean?

As part of the licensing process for a new, officially licensed racing wheel, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has asked us to stop promoting our unlicensed wheels as beeing PlayStation compatible and we are happy to comply with that. As soon as we have a fully licensed PlayStation wheel on the market, we will officially announce the compatibility again.

If you already purchased a Fanatec product with previously promoted PS3 or PS4 compatibility, basically nothing will change for you. The compatibility for those wheels still depends solely on the game developers and if they decide to add/keep support for their wheels in their games or not.
If you purchase a new wheel from us from now on we will only guarantee the PC or Xbox One compatibility as advertised.

I hope you understand our position and rest assured that we do everything to make our products as compatible as possible."

Does someone know if It's possible to make the steering animations much smoother when playing with a pad? Is there a way to reduce the incredible speed of the arms' movements?

At 14:00 in the vid above, that's what I'm talking about.
EDIT: It should be possible as I watched other people playing with a controller and things are MUCH better than that. Example:

seeing as its better on pc with controller i seriously dont get what is happening there.

That's from the Fanatec blog link I posted earlier in this thread ;)

Some of them are available on PC via on-screen apps that have to be activated by the user (like seat position) so it could be that they just weren't activated on the console videos we've seen. I'd be surprised if they're omitted from the console build because some of them are essential. Mind if I ask where you read they're being omitted from the console build?

Yes, apologies. I think I got carried away a bit. I'll rephrase all that and add an 'I hope all this stuff is in AC on consoles:' before that list as I don't actually know for sure. My bad. Just trying to get all available info from the handful of footage we've seen so far. Surely we'll get telemetry or at least tyre temps but the wheel calibration is quite a biggie for me.

I've seen vids scrolling through options screens but nothing recently. Be nice if one of the guys who has a gold copy can go through literally every available option, but we still won't know what they have planned for the patch I guess.

No worries, was just trying to clarify. A lot of those things are done through apps, on the PC you move your mouse to the ride side of the screen and a list of them appears, you click them to turn them on/off. Of course on the PC you can move them around on the screen with the mouse, not sure if that will be possible on console or not but hopefully there's some flexibility. Tire temps/wear and seat position are some of the things available with the apps, I think telemetry might be too, also track map, post process filter effects, chat box, leaderboard, rpm, gear indicator, speed, laps, position are all apps on the PC.

Wheel calibration is in the controller settings screen, on the PC it's a tiny little button next to the list of wheel presets so it's kinda hard to see (I think I played for a couple weeks before I knew it was there). It pretty much has to be in there somewhere, and hopefully all the important things we have as apps will be available too, though I haven't seen confirmation one way or another. Maybe they can be accessed/activated through a pause menu or something.

I was referring more to a built-in feature on the PS4. I'm presuming most of the PS4 footage we've seen is replays exported to YouTube directly from the PS4 (that's possible, right?)
PS4 has the share button, it records up to 15 minutes of gameplay at 720p 30fps iirc, you can trim the video and upload to Youtube straight from the PS4. All the PCars & F1 2015 videos in my Youtube channel were done using the PS4 share feature.

Thanks for the info, I did not know that.

I'm playing AC right now, and i just wanted to say to those that haven't tried it yet and are on the fence, that you will really appreciate just how unique each car feels and handles. This is the biggest selling point of this game after all (the physics and FFB), and it is definitely worth the money even though you own other racing games which offer you the same cars and tracks.

Console racers will normally never get this close to simulating each car one by one, but this game does just that.

Loves the menus, says they are very intuitive
They can only show off 3 cars and 3 tracks pre release.
He likes the camera angles available.
Graphics are great, he hasn't noticed any hiccups, but hasn't tried online
Driving sensation is great, loves the physics and FFB
Laser scanned surfaces feel nice
He's surprised how good it feels and looks on console.
He recommends it to people that are still doubting
He likes the sounds, says on consoles they are the best
He thinks the aids are nice and progressive for newcomers
Well that fills me with some confidence...

6 days to get my hands on the game!!:drool:
Very nice impresions of Marcel (@digiprost) and also those of inside simracing.
I liked all what i have seen off the game till now, and that without the day one patch..
Only thing i didn't like is the exclusion of trento's hillclimb and that black cat county circuit isn't in the game actually..

A shame that there isn't support for fanatec wheels on PlayStation 4...Hopefully they added the support in a near future.

Must be exciting to get the game so early.

Can you tell us about the graphics during the Replays? How is the graphics compare to DriveClub and Forza 6?
