The effects with toe (in this case, very initial turn in) mainly happen before major weightshifts.

Couple sources I quicky came by:

http://en.intraxracing.nl/techniek/camber,-caster,-toe-intoe-out/

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=4

Maybe that's the case for fwd cars, It's not entirely clear. I can only go by my experiences with a rwd car in which I reduced toe to lessen initial turn-in nervousness and reduced camber to reduce deflection on broken surfaces. The engineer who did this also taught me that reducing stiffness at the front would give me better front grip which was totally counterintuitive to me but works IRL and in sims. Go figure..

Quick update for me.

I downloaded the PS4 patch and tried it this morning.

The DS4 feels better but it's still too sensitive and too responsive. Mind you I haven't fiddled with any settings yet. Honestly I think it needs more smoothing out and a weightier feel to it.

Black County is a pretty nice track, I like it but it feels sterile, some ambiance is needed.

The Maserati Levante. WOW, THE SOUND. Especially the way it changes gears at redline (Dat DSG fart is on point!) in the interior view, I enjoy hearing it. To retract my previous statement about AC sounds, I've realised that the audio quality of the cars that were there very early in the game's development don't match up with the recently added cars. For example, I compared the 458 Italia and E30 M3 (I remember seeing those cars a while back on some older PC builds on Youtube.) with the 488GTB and The Levante. I can hear the differences in quality, the newly added cars sound way better and I like the way this is going. Maybe they'll go back and redo the older cars, I dunno, that remains to be seen.

I'm still peeved about the DLC though. The way it was made to sound like before the console release was that all the DLC on the PC version of AC at that time will be on the console version at release. Not only that, I need my Japanese pack man.... Plus I can't get jack from the PSN store, what's going on with that now?

The career difficulty to me still feels unbalanced. Very Easy lives up to its name, Easy still feels unbalanced, Medium I have yet to try again, The others meh, what's there to say?I know they will be hard obviously. Case in point is the Novice Series 2 race with the Z4 that has been giving me a headache; on Very Easy I managed pole position before I spun out on the last few corners only to gain 2nd place. On Easy I managed 5th which to me doesn't make sense on EASY difficulty. I'll try medium later.

All in all, the patch is welcomed but I still think there's more work that needs to be done particularly on controller support and difficulty balancing.

Older pre-dlc(before 2015) cars used 100% digitalized audio like granturismo but they got some proper audio equipment after that, of course it faults a bit with a few cars such as the ford escort but for the most part the quality of audio is steadily increasing, a second audio engineer was hired for the red pack, Japanese pack and porsche stuffs and they are even better. Its not raceroom levels but its great still.

But at the time they said that the Japanese and Red Packs hadn't been released. I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to forego all that planned revenue just because the game was released a couple months late as they were counting on that money to pay the guys they hired to work on the console build.

There's something a bit jarring about the backfire crackle sound effect (I think same one for most cars) where it sounds like some sketchy .wav file with lots of white noise in it is just plastered on top of whatever is happening. I'd really like to see that improved.

And talking about DSG fart... For some reason I took a Huayra out onto the new track - first time I drove it in AC. It has the worst paddle-shift behavior in the game that I can tell. Keep the right foot on the floor and hit the "+" paddle and you get over a second of bouncing off the rev-limiter, then a slow and painful clutch-smoking re-engagement of the engine to the wheels. I'd say it's over 2 seconds per upshift if I lift my foot and treat it as if I was shifting a conventional manual trans to get a clean shift. Up til now the only car that I had shifting problems with was the McLaren F1 GTR, whose downshift blips would bang on the rev limiter for a half a second. Very annoying and sometimes upset the car.

I've been banging on about this in other threads. Turn the auto clutch off - you don't need it even on manual cars. The only purpose I can think of for it is if you use an H-pattern shifter but don't want to use the clutch pedal. A few lines of text in the menus could have saved a whole bunch of grief and complaints. :irked:

Thanks a lot, hopefully it cleans things up!

No, IRL I reduced the sharpness of turn in by reducing the toe. If you think about it, more toe means that your outside wheel is turned more than it would otherwise be. Once you shift weight to it, it has more influence than the inside wheel.

This does make sense, never thought of it like that. Always thought it was toe out for turn in response.

+1 with DS4, the car react too fast compare to before....

From my own experience:

Front toe in = / \
More straight line stability (both wheels point to center = reduce tendency to weave)
More initial responsiveness (because outer wheel is already pointing inside)
But once weight settles you get more understeer (because inside wheel is pointing outside)

Front toe out = \ /
Less straight line stability
Less initial responsiveness
Once weight settles you get less understeer

The effect on initial responsiveness is very very short, maybe around 0.5 seconds after you turn your wheel. So depending on other aspects of the car setup, you might not even feel it or feel the opposite.

Reducing stiffness at front gives more grip simply because you can transfer more weight to it during braking and cornering. More weight = more tyre grip. But setting it too soft isn't beneficial either because putting too much weight can overload the tyres and you lose grip instead. So it's not straightforward, but mostly soft front = less understeer.

Now the 718 old and new are coming, people complained about too many road cars on the support forums lol.

Actually, I really don't feel like that. I'm selfish, but I'm not THAT selfish. :sly: A few race cars can't hurt. To be honest, it's really only Formula/Indy cars that I'm not too fond off. They're just too damn fast for me. What's that slower open-wheel car that comes with AC? The Tatus, I think it's called. I can handle that one. :D

The Ferrari SF15-T and Lotus 98T? Yeah, I'm definitely going to kill my driver in those - probably 2nd lap, but maybe even 1st. I can't even imagine what it must feel like on the human body driving one of those things to their limit. The Group C cars are insane too, but I really like those for some reason.

Personally I like the mix AC has gone for so far. I'm looking forward most to driving the 911 GT3 Cup, Cayman GT4, whichever 911 GT3 RS vintages they put in game and the 918.

Porsche has a looong list of fantastic road-cars but I am more excited to try the racing cars. That is always my main attraction in games. I know there will be huge fun to be had with the road-cars but my heart beats faster just thinking of the 919 Hybrid, 911 GT1 and RS Spyder to name just three.

I like the road cars but in Assetto Corsa, i really prefer the race cars because i want to do many race weekends and whole championships with them. 911 RSR and/or GT3 R are the cars i'm looking forward to the most, 911 Carrera Cup would be ace too beacuse of the ability to do "real" Carrera Cup races where everyone uses the same car.

919 Hybrid is a mighty car, but there is no competition in AC. You could use that car for hot lapping but on the track, LMP1 competition is needed.

The 2017 911 cup car is coming.
Yes seriously this new one.

Sure it's this one? Even as a huge Porsche fan i cannot say 100% for sure which model is being used at the Carrera Cup, but i'm perfectly fine with the new one. I'm positive we are going to see the GTE RSR, too and maybe the 2016 GT3 R as well because i spotted those at the teaser trailer by Kunos. Just for the record: the GT3 R is used by teams at the VLN nürburgring endurance series as well as in the Blancpain series. The RSR is driving at the ISMA and the WEC.

Must be this one, no clue if the RSR is coming or there is the potential that the 2017 GTE car could come, GT3R has to come considering how popular GT3 is within AC. Out of all of them the RSR has the smallest chance to come considering its only rival is the C7R.

Imagine you get into a mall to buy a pair of Lee jeans, and when you go for the check out, the guy at desk tells you "I'm glad to tell you that, since you have purchased this product, you will get this t-shirt for free, offered by Lee".

What do you will answer? Some options:

- I didn't ask for it, just give me my jeans
- I don't like this t-shirt, I'm not going to wear it
- What are you trying to do? To fill my closet with useless stuff?!
- I've a t-shirt already, I don't need this so-called gift
- Let's do this: give me the jeans for free and keep the t-shirt for you
- If I was interested to a t-shirt, I would have purchased it
- What a waste of time and money, tell Lee to give me a 100$ jacket for free instead
- I'm here for the jeans and you give me a free t-shirt? Shame on you
- So, now Lee gives stuff for free to let me have a taste of it? Shame on them

Sounds weird? Not to some simracers. Sad, but true.

So, about Porsche: few people complain because Assetto Corsa will release - for free, and even if you just own the game but you don't purchase any Porsche DLC - the new Panamera, Cayenne and Macan. Saying the things you can read above. As part of our agreement with Porsche, the Brand asked us to reproduce, for THEIR simulators, ALSO the models included in their current production. For THEIR purposes. Once we worked for months to reproduce those models with the maximum accuracy for Porsche simulators, we believed it would have been a shame do not allow the AC community to enjoy those cars as well. Without charging them. And that's it. Also because we take in consideration that the AC community is so wide today that different people like different cars, something that some blind gamers still don't understand, or accept. On the other side, this kind of agreement allows us to reproduce and make available for Assetto Corsa cars like the one you see in the picture.

So, today lot of people tell me that they want so badly in Assetto Corsa the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde . If to get it in the game we would be asked to include also the next Stelvio SUV as free bonus content, would you complain for it? If yes, probably you would need to turn off your PC or console, open the door, leave the house, close your eyes and take a breath; and relax. Because it looks to me that you are not able anymore to enjoy what is supposed to be your passion. BTW, driving the new PanameraTurbo at the Nordschleife in 7'.39" is a blast, and it is not for everyone. Stay tuned. And take it easy, enjoy your life, you live once. ;)
