Really looking forward to also playing Assetto Corsa on the PC within the next month or two.

The lighting seems better? Especially the grass. More natural looking.

Everything is better on the PC, the only cons are price and not as plug and play.
The sooner you start the longer you can enjoy the perks.

I dont understand why they would make a different version of the game for the consoles.
Sure they use a relatively underperforming cpu but the gpu is quite ok for AC.
I Used an intel q6600 + a gtx470 and 4GB or ram for a month or two with AC and it worked Ok. Sure I got stuttering when 32cars were on track and the graphical settings was at lowest but it looked Ok and I got like 45fps for the most part.

The cpu in consoles have 7 cores for gaming, that is way better then 4 cores of the q6600 even though the single thread performance probably is a bit higher with the q6600. Strange, to say at least from Kunos if you ask me.

It's an 8 Core AMD processor in the PS4 and a very similar 8 Core AMD processor in the Xbox One. The AMD 8 Core processors have more cores because they don't run as efficiently as the Quad Core Intel options. At the moment, a Quad Core Intel or 8 Core AMD processor is way overkill for pretty much any game.

Your average person will have a minimum of an Intel i5, 8GB of Memory, and a GTX 1060 lvl card or higher. That will literally outperform a Console at the moment.

When you can build something like this, which will perform equal to what a console can do on 1080p, for a couple hundred dollars more, I don't understand where Console gaming is still staying alive. You get a gaming system and a computer to be able to do other things with in one combo package.

Not sure if you're trolling but your PC costs 677$ >_> without mouse-keyboard-pad-speakers-monitor You can get a ps4 for less than 300 and you have a pad too included.

If i had moneys to waste i would have gone PC for gaming, but let's be honest that PC is going to be obsolete if you want to play new stuff very soon due to the zero optimization work on pc games (just buy a bigger one every few years).

And i'm talking as one that was a PC player for years, then using both and have now switched to consoles. PC is for working, video editing etc etc and gaming should come as an extra on it.

Console allow people to play with a modest hardware expense for years (i mean the ps3 lasted for how damn long?) with most new games and a few very good exclusives (i.e. mario, last of us, etc etc).

in an ideal world i would be able to play all games on my PC without the need of a console; but in an ideal world i wouldn't care dishing out a 1000 or more for a competent pc that will last 3 years as medium/high setting quality gaming machine.

Heck my friend that recently bought a gaming PC spent around 700euros for graphic card and the newest releases do not even run maxed out >_>

? nah, You did not read my post carefully.
the i5 with the 1050ti will probably be a tad better than the ps4/Xbox one because the frequency and ipc of the i5 is far superior then the 1.6-1.8 jaguar 8cores and were a pair of cores shares a fpu.

A gpu like r9 7850/270 in the xbox one or a 7870/270x in ps4 with amd fx 8320/8350 with 4gb up 8gb of ram would be a direct console equivalent. But an older cpu like q6600/amd phenom2 paired with a gtx 470/480/580/660ti would be more fair.
Max 7 cores are available for the games in the consoles.
An i5 with a gtx 1050ti would be to fast.

A quad core ie i5 or a fx is overkill? noooo way... :P
i7 here and it stutters in ac with 48 cars :P

But I get what you say, Consoles pretty much sucks hardware wise yet they do mangae to make the games look quite good if you ask me. Damn those pesky companies tweaking the crap out of the games for the consoles and then screwing up hard with the pc ports... hehe

I've had my PC for a little over two years now and it's still going strong. I'm sure I might need to upgrade the GPU in a few years but everything else should be good for quite some time. And since I don't expect AC or R3E or rF2 to make huge leap in the next few years that would require a new GPU, and no new racing sims are slated to come out any time soon, I could probably get by for another two to three years on my 970 without needing an updgrade. The whole "your PC is obsolete the moment you buy it" mantra isn't really as valid as it used to be.

Oh man.. pc vs console disputes. These are always so wonderful. :ill:

To me there's no real debate, you use and enjoy what you can afford, and it doesn't make you better or worse than anyone else. 👍

@azidahaka
@BrandonW77

I have used up till recently a i7 3770k/16gb ram/gtx 670(oldest part) anyway, the pc is from 2012 and the gpu is from 2011 I think and with games I could run everything at medium at least, in racing games I could even almost highest settings. So just like BrandonW77 is saying you do not need to upgrade every year or even every tow to three years anymore. in more demanding games the 670 was the bottleneck and a gtx 970/390 or even 1060/rx480 would be fine.

But I hope that next AC/pc cars will demand a bit more hardware, i want 100cars on the track with 3d threes/foliage like in bf games and forza..

in between the 2012 i7 and the i7 6700 I had the old 2007 intel q6600/4gb/gtx470 and it worked albeit it was everything at minimum to get like max 45-60fps avg. In ac it stuttered like hell when there was to many cars on the track, but it worked smooth in other games. And that pc is very close to xboxone/ps4 in performance. If we had the same optimisation as on the consoles it would be quite good, but we know that Windows is a performance hog. :D

1050 tad better than the consoles?

Tad? 1050 eats them for lunch.

well, there is the PS4 pro with what seems to be a rx480 and soon we will see the xbox Scorpio with an even higher performing gpu. 1050ti is eaten alive especially because of the close to metal api like Vulcan/dx12 we have on pc

Yup  - and it is not always about costs either. Lifestyle, setup, expectations, ease of use.. it goes on.

I'm one of those loons that had triple screens for GT5/6, so you certainly won't ever catch me looking down on console players. :D

Good luck with being portable with that.

hehe well everything is a compromise, Dan a4 does not look that much larger, only wider and deeper. And you can have this inside :D

Will probably be my next AC crusher machine with an AMD Ryzen SR7 if it will perform good enough, that is :D

I'd guess iRacing probably takes that honor, and probably will for quite some time.
You are 100% correct. I should have been clearer because the "racing" part of Assetto Corsa is still on the poo-poo ca-ca side of the fence compared to iRacing's slick, polished system. The sim driving aspect - physics - accessibility I guess I was getting at. Your correction is appreciated.

Really looking forward to also playing Assetto Corsa on the PC within the next month or two.
You're switching to PC Assetto Corsa soon? Sweet! I can't wait to complain about crappy mods with you.

And that's not one of the best examples on PC, to be honest. A bit on the jerky side.

Videos by @Harry6784, for example, look much nicer to my eyes. Like this beauty:

Ahhh...I love that video. It was either you or someone else who posted that on here before. That 959 made the F50 its beyotch in Adenauer Forst! I probably made the same comment the first time I saw this video -- I can relate. I have ruined many a lap in the exact same manner as Mister F50. :banghead:

I don't think their intentions were to make a different game. Inexperience led to it becoming a different Assetto Corsa than the acclaimed PC version, unfortunately. Someone just posted an article/interview with Stefano recently where he talks about the inherent difficulties in make a PS4 or XBox One game compared to the PC. While I'm sure Kunos sort of knew about 'em, he flat out says he wasn't expecting what eventually became the reality of the situation. You make what you think is a good game and then PS4 says, "No....you need to have this, this or this..." for certification. XBox has the same deal. We are dealing with a company that developed with one man hammering out code...not a team. For the porting, a couple of developers were brought in for each platform and since Assetto Corsa wasn't written with the idea of being ported, there were probably a lot of changes that needed to be made. The guys at Kunos have used the word "experiment" quite a bit when this console project was just kicking off and in many ways that's what it really was for this tiny company. They've since grown, but I believe they were about 15-20 people when the announcement of the PS4/XBox One versions was made.

To me there is no doubt that if they had been able to make it the same, they would have. I know that the intention was for the game to be the same. They probably thought like you that their was not that much of a gap between the platform and as they were working on it, delay after delay, they realized some sacrifice needed to be made to make it work.
What I have no doubt about is that I am glad to have made the move a few years back, nothing wrong with enjoying a console but their is just more to enjoy on a PC.

100% agree with this.

People love to roll their eyes at crazy Stefano when he goes totally nuts on someone and I agree that it is indisputably an awful way to behave, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he puts every ounce of his life into this stupid game we play. I'm sure Marco, Aris, Simone, etc... all do -- but I know Stefano does. I know that he actually cares about AC and he 100% cares what people think about it. That's probably where that crazy freakin' emotion comes from...but that's an entirely different subject.

The adventure of porting Assetto Corsa to console started in 2014...
That no sense comentary of Stefano in the interview about Microsoft & Sony....??
SmS made Project C.A.R.S the same as the PC version, Codemasters made the port the same 100% as the PC version...

So if other people can port a game, maintaining UDP applications, full AI difficulty, keyboard compatibility, same hud apps, etc, etc and etc... Why Kunos don't? We also don't have to forget that they work together with 505Games and that he hired a dev from rockstar with experience in consoles.

What bothered me the Most is that what they answer in an interview just before the last delay of the game :

"What differences will players see between PC and console versions? The difference is that in the PC version you get more frames per second, more cars when you're racing against others, and also the AI. On the PC the limit is your CPU, on the console we're at 16 players. One particularity of Assetto Corsa is that we're using the same physics for the artificial intelligence cars as for you."

The excuse about the last delay is also no sense...

"Hence the delay to August? Not this time around. It's more that we don't want to get in the way of things like the football [Euro 2016]. We want people to go on holiday and come back and say, "OK, let's buy Assetto Corsa."

Things that marco said about 505Games :

We have decided to join in a partnership with 505 Games because they understand our vision of Assetto Corsa, and don't just want to do a lazy console port. They believe – as we do – that on console, there is room for a racing product that aims to bring the same depth of a PC simulation.

Interview here:
http://www.redbull.com/sg-en/assetto-corsa-interview-with-kunos-simulazioni

So seeing, that they finally made a lazy "port" version... With less options, features, content, different AI difficulty system (that was bugged and way more difficult than on pc),lack of private lobbies or something simple as button mapping.... Why should this "game" sell good on consoles? Lots of people i now wanted to jump over to Assetto... But seing all the lack of basic features, options and no personalised online lobbies... They staid in Pcars & dirt rally with the racing leagues.

Stefano whas whining about the console community... And all what i can answer is if you look to their twitter, Facebook and forums, all console users are praising the physics of the game, the driving and FFB..

All what we want is missing features and options that PC version have... Been waiting 3 months for a simple tyre heating and degradation hud app... Is a bit crazy.

So Stefano don't should look for culprits in the community or Sony and Microsoft... Just push his team, and give to the console users what was promised, same content, features and options in a different IU.
The users interested in Assetto just don't want to be a Schumacher or want mechanical upgrade pieces to win a race... Or satan's rewind features...

So Stefano.. More work, less bla bla

I'm sorry. I always read your posts Donnced, but I had to stop as soon as I read "PCars could do it...Codemasters could do it. So why not Kunos?" One has nothing to do with the other.

Do anyone have explanation on tires in Assetto Corsa?
As I know in GT6, for example, PD used Yokohama tires for modelling, Standard - few common road compounds, Sport - A048 and similar semi-slicks, Racing - Slicks.

When I tried most of Porsche in AC there are many tire options such as Street, Semi-Slicks, Supercar Road (Pilot Sport, I guess), Supercar Trofeo (Pilot Sport Cup 2 maybe) etc. But I don't get why some cars offer only few tire options: Boxster S has only Semi-Slicks and Street. Panamera comes on Supercar Road only. Does it mean that Kunos modelling every type of tires they put in the game?

Yes, i now they're a little independent team, it's completely comprehensive! But don't say to the people that you only delay a game for avoid "football" or promise an equal port and give a game without certain basic features that even the PC version has..

They're with 505Games also...What isn't a so little company...

I've reserved my "prestige" physical copy back in February 2016,the first day available...
Very joyful after known that Kunos said that it would be the same game with his content, features and options in a new, easier and simple fast IU....
Very hyped even more after being playing with the PC version at a friend's house.

I still love the physics, simulation, driving and FFB of Assetto, don't take me wrong..

But the rest is become an deception.. 3 months for a simple tyre heating and degradation hud app and after 6 months we still have private Online lobbies for racing leagues or can't map buttons, and don't want to start again over about the rest that is missing...we don’t even get a reply in the forums why the special events of the Porsche Pack 2 and red pack aren't in the game...

I hope Kunos can achieve this problem and try to offer what it should being since the beginning..
But Honestly, his declaration in the interview... Are very bad placed words.

Every car in Assetto has his own tyres modelated simulating those that the real car normally fits.

GT does a generic simple tyre Models, the same for all the cars.

As Donnced said, there is a basic tire model. There are currently two iterations of it in the game. Tire Model 7 and Tire Model 10. Tire Model 10 is the same thing as 7 with a couple of extra parameters to define the tire properties further.

When Kunos signs licensing agreements with these car companies, there is obviously discussion of stock tires. For street cars, those are typically Street Tires. Then semislicks are also included to simulate performance driving - perhaps like one might put on their car when they run track days or whatever. Semislicks are still street legal tires.

Nowadays there is such a wide range of tire choices available. The name is just a name. The characteristics of the BMW M4 Street Tire:

BRAKE_DX_MOD=0.05

Some of the parameters are the same. Some are very close. Yet each are labeled "Street Tires". I could post the Semislicks from each car as well and we would have similarities and differences on Semislicks as well. It's really just important to focus on the tires each car has and not the tires one car has that the other doesn't.

For the record, those are TM10 tires. The bottom 3 parameters are the parameters that were added to TM7 to help make TM10: CX_MULT, RADIUS_ANGULAR_K & BRAKE_DX_MOD

You can read up on these on the official forums if you wish. I hope this has been helpful.

EDIT: For full disclosure, I didn't post all of the parameters of either tire -- there is a section on THERMAL properties that I didn't feel like copy/pasting. I just wanted to give you a quick look at most of a tires properties.

@ALB123 very cool, thanks!

I think private lobbies is a complicated thing, considering that 505 Games (I hope) want to prevent that ping-pong parties like some games have. They told many times that many functions they can't just port from PC and have to make them from the ground. Regarding DLC packs, it take much time to approve any content from Sony and Microsoft to add it in their stores.

Private lobbies are private lobbies... For ping pong we have already the preset public lobbies.. Private lobbies in a sim game like Assetto should be in the game since the first day. (not say to the people less than a week before launching that the game don't gonna feature them)

Things that they can't port: mod compatibility, due probably license policy.
Less AI cars due CPU, the rest can be ported and was promised, the only thing the said that wouldn't come is trento bodone because it's graphical beyond the standards..

Updates and content in sony & Microsoft in every single game takes from 5 work days up to 12 work days to pass the approvals.

Every single company gives release dates of thier updates and DLC..
Other companys in a time laps o a week, 2 weeks achieve to have same update and DLC launched in PC,PS4 & XBOX One.

So, I'm really sorry there.. I know it's a little team but they took some very bad decisions and launched a "beta" version instead of a port.

Now the only thing that they achieved is split the communitys, because no much PC version users really now how Assetto is on consoles.
Those that played the both versions or own them both are very helpful in the forums community and requesting and complaining the same as the console versions users.
