Geez, every other broadcast I've seen of Nascar always made it look boring but the speed in that first video is quite frightening.

When the camera is always zooming and panning it doesn't really make you appreciate the speed of Nascar.

Some of that debris still flew into the crowd.

Well, that's Daytona and the two superspeedways are always like that. They're generally some of the most boring races of the season because they literally just drive around in a pack like that for 500 miles and rarely change positions. Then with a few laps to go they all start trying to fight their way to the front which usually results in a massive crash as they come to the checkers. They go fast at other tracks too but they're usually quite boring as well because they get spread out and just ride around for 3-5 hours. I just saw a quote this week from Dale Earnhardt Sr. describing NASCAR races, "You watch the first 10 laps, then go mow your yard, then take a nap, then watch the last 10 laps".

But for this year they've completely revamped the rules and formats to something that makes F1 look like a very simple sport to follow, so who knows what they'll be like now (they're breaking the races into three segments with a 10 minute break in between each segment, as well a some very convoluted points system to go along with it).

Its a shame it isn't like Days of Thunder. :D

Funny you mention F1. It was so dull last year I had missed so many races as you always knew who would win. One of the Mercedes.

Depends on your point of view I guess. I watched every FP2, qualifying, and race last season and I thought it was one of the most entertaining seasons in recent memory. Yeah, a Merc won all but two races but the back and forth battle between ROS and HAM was freaking epic and you really didn't know for sure which one was going to take the title until the last race. If you only care about the competition I can see how it might be boring. But if you're addicted to the F1 soap opera like I am this season was fantastic.

To be fair, it hasn't quite been five months (it will be tomorrow, in Europe).

To be even fairer "fully customisable multiplayer" is *still* listed on the official site and it was only announced the day before release that it wasn't going to be included in the initial release. I had my pre-ordered disc in my PS4 before I even read about it :-(

I hope that is fair enough ;-)

From Marco's Facebook.

With Marco previously stating the the Scotland location will cater for all race types, perhaps we will see a very varied selection of cars arrive around the same time as this gorgeous place. I desperately want the TS040-HYBRID and MC12 GT1 so fingers crossed.

What do you reckon? Maybe the British Pack makes more sense.

Happened to me aswell. Car had old brakes and lost it on a heavy emergency brake.and had to make a lot of controls not to crash! Amazing.

It's happened to me a lot over the years (even pre-dating AC). I remember when I got my first Impreza I took a fellow petrolhead from work for a "spirited" ride one day. He was a rather large fellow, easily over 300 lbs., I took him on a twisty road that I knew well but I was not used to driving with the extra weight in the car and as a result when we went over a slight crest that went into a left-hand turn the rear broke loose pretty good. Normally it would have been a disaster but my reflexes kicked in and I counter-steered perfectly, put the throttle down, and hauled ass out of the turn like nothing happened. He was white as a ghost and said afterwards he thought for sure we were crashing and he couldn't believe I saved it. I was all like, "Sim racing FTW brah. " Of course afterwards I needed to rush home to change my underoos, but I didn't tell him that. :dopey:

It seems like we all had our own Sim-to-Real life stories haha. Mines are nowhere near as dramatic but I can recall two situations. First one was a few years back where I was driving an old Camry heading to town with two other passengers probably hitting 60 mph and a bus in front of me came to a sudden halt because a car in the opposing lane came on our side of the road (we drive on the left). I don't know what happened, I'm guessing the bus stalled because he remained stationary much longer than necessary (and our main road is equivalent to a single lane highway so imagine someone just coming to a halt in high morning traffic). Anyway, I realized this and I braked, but just enough for me to hit the threshold for the wheels not to lockup (old car so no ABS). The Camry wasn't stopping quickly enough and pressing the breaks even a little bit more would mean lockup; lockup meant little to no steering. I decided "Naww man I'm not gonna crash into this bus today" and I instinctively looked for alternative routes (this entire thought process happened so quickly I'm pretty sure only 2 seconds had passed). I couldn't overtake on the right because the opposing traffic had come to a halt too (for the same guy that had cause this mess in the first place). So I took my foot off the brake, and swerved to my left onto the grass and somehow managed to squeeze the car between the bus (now on my right) and a street light on my left at about 40 mph. My brother in the front was just like whoa, but he wasn't surprised since we both play sims. On the other hand, my uncle in the back pretty much saw his life flash before his eyes - probably remembering all the bad things he's done in his life lol.

Another time happened more recently, I was heading home alone late one night. I was driving an SUV this time and I was probably hitting 60 again (you can see the trend here). There was a slow moving pick up truck ahead and I was about to overtake. For some reason though my instincts were like keep an eye on him. And while I was closing in about to pass, he swerved to the right to head up another road with no indicator or anything. I had to swerve back to the left to avoid hitting him in the side and I ended up on some loose gravel and I had to pull off an off-road rally mini-slide in my SUV before I could straighten it back on the road. After that I just thought "Yeahh, maybe 30 mph is fine for tonight."

But in retrospect, if there was one thing I could comment on is that I held it was my composure. Never panic in any of these situations. Just assess the surroundings and act accordingly.

I had a close call last winter with a Ford KA where, by my mistake, I went to a corner way too fast (I had my license for 6 months, a real newbie) and it was raining a lot and the car slipped and lost the front, thankfully with a bit of luck and a bit skill, caused lift-off oversteer (old car with 0 aids, and very light) and nailed the throttle in hope to correct the car. It worked where in normal conditions I should smash the kerb. All of this because I love to hoon FWD cars on sims.

My experience was with my father's Lancia Thema 2.0ie (amazing car for the time and lovely engine)...

Had license since a couple months, always been driving lancia y, and I got to the exit ramp of the highway a bit too hot (like 110km/h) but managed to slow down enough and make the turns thanks to some well driven wheel hits with the back sliding...

I've always been a cool driver even in bad situations and I never get scared in Bad moments but in after thought...

Man I miss that car... you could change from first to fifth great while you arm was resting in it's place just by just wrist moves :D

And that engine... I found myself at 180km/h without even noticing more than once!

Short (really short) video of the new track. Looks like a good road to do some cruising, and it's not as wide as a freeway like BCC. (You may need to click the gear to get it in 1080, it defaults to lo-res for me)
Hah, all I could think about was how the car would be totally minced through that narrow bit if you lost it. Would make for a good BeamNG drive moment.

Is there any timeframe on the release of this track and the Audi Quattro S1? Will it coincide with a new car pack? They've been teasing this content for a while now. Some context would be nice.

FOV, Marco mentioned in the comments on that clip in reply to someone about the FOV he was using "the good thing is everyone can set it as he likes, including me", well not including me, so i hope he understands us console peasants need to be included too.
I just thought he was using 'Forza mode' lol
