I wonder if with the 2 rally cars we'll be getting, they would venture out to do some dirt tracks or a rally stage.

I don't see it happening. Considering they have a long way to go with circuit quantity I think adding rally stages would be a step too far for them. You then have to include the additional workload required to rework the tyres and so on for such different surfaces.

Speaking of rally tracks, this might sound weird… Is it just me, or is Barcelona the greasiest track in the game? I'm constantly skating around everywhere on that track.

I haven't tried AC on mod dirt tracks myself, but I bet some here did so it would be interesting to hear which kind of feedback gravel surfaces gave?

As @Scuderia Paul noted, there are some turns that you really need to be careful or you're going to slide. I do think that track has an exceptionally large number of turns like that compared to many of the other tracks in game.

I may have driven on a gravel surface, but it would have been a long time ago as I'm sure it was probably an unpleasant experience. SIM TRAXX is in the process of building a Pike's Peak road that will have two layouts. A completely tarred layout and a half tar, half gravel. You can download it right now and test it out. I stopped driving on the gravel in about 2 seconds. I know it's way early in the process, but the game just isn't setup for gravel, in my opinion.

I just remembered this video I made testing the feel of the surface of a "dirt" track. As there is no real dirt settings, some concessions must be made. Foolishly, I took the Escort out to test this track. Probably not a good idea to take a car that only has 70s slicks for tires. It's actually not a bad layout. If you're interested in rally driving I recommend trying it out, especially since I am not familiar with rally driving surfaces so I could be totally misinterpreting the characteristics of this 'dirt' road. (He did lower the friction value considerably in surfaces.ini)...

I have the same problem too, but i considered the track grip the problem, harder compound help to find the right grip

Mmm! A bit of Dukes of Hazzard there at the end. Not accurate though. It never snapped its back. :D

That baby needs to be powersliding about the place.

Yeah...I was just trying to get a feel for how the author created the surface, since I know AC doesn't natively support dirt roads. It didn't even occur to me until I had recorded the damn thing that I was driving on slicks. :banghead: That track could probably be a lot of fun - the layout is pretty cool.

Reminds me of watching rally in the 80s when I was a boy...

Assetto Corsa would be quite fun with rally.

I love, love, love old school rally racing like what's in that video. They're not driving $500,000 dollar machines that vaguely resemble the street version of the car if you squint and look out the corner of your eye at it. We didn't get a whole lot of coverage here in the States, but when we did - maybe late at night on ESPN or Wide World of Sports on ABC - I would be glued to the TV. I used to get so nervous watching these maniac fans diving out of the way of a car that's doing 70mph on this bumpy dirt road. It was so exciting. I can understand people still love rally racing. It is pretty awesome to watch these new totally awesome cars perform the way they can, but it'll never be the same to me.

Yea the goofy cambered turns are one thing. I'll try harder tires and see how it compares, wouldn't have thought that.

I forgot the important part ahahah
Problem is that softer compounds tend to overheat even with a 14c° degrees track temperature and therefore tend to lose grip in the last sectors that requires good traction
Sauce: Mario Isola from Pirelli held a conference in my University and asked him about Barcellona and its track surface

Ha! Hardly a better resource for answering that question.
