Imagine going over a kerb or bump with your hands off the steering wheel. Will the steering wheel move? If it moves then we do need FFB for kerbs and bumps.

Been thinking about this some more. If the physics say that a bump or kerb create a steering input to the car then the ffb should mirror that force at the wheel. If you add an artificial artifact into the ffb then you mask the "real" effect. By all means there should be an option (or options) for the user to customize the ffb to fit. But leave the option for accurate ffb.

You will get a reaction in AC from certain bumps. You need to hook the tire over a curb or a couple places off track (:embarrassed:) Ive found that will also jerk the wheel a bit. It just isn't adding all the "extra" effects we have become use to over the years. I do think it needs tweaked just a bit to feel them just a bit more, but race teams and car makers spend lots of time and money to eliminate bump steer.

Whats going to be interesting is what AC decide to do. Some are gonna want what their use to and others are gonna want to keep it as "real" as possible.

Finally got my first few laps with this last night...to me the driving position seems quite high, I changed some settings that I thought would lower the height of the driver view but it didn't seem to change anything...is it possible to lower the driver view or can someone advise where the settings are I need to change.
Cheers

In AC folder go to system/cfg/.. in assetto_corsa.ini enable this ENABLE_DEV_APPS=1
It's 0 as default

Then you find onboard adjustments app in the app list.

How are the physics in this game with with a Logitech DFGT or similar wheel? Worth getting even if I'm planning on getting GT6 or are they fairly similar physics wise?

I have a G27, but DFGT and g27 seem to have the same motor, except the G27 has two motors where as the DFGT only has one. But whatever wheel you have, as long as it has strong FFB and above 200 degree rotation, the physics will be top notch, it's definitely worth it if you're a driving sim fan.. And "IMO" GT6 will be different compare to Assetto Corsa. Assetto corsa is more hardcore compare to GT6 (Based on GTacademy physics, but it's still acceptable IMO and borderline hardcore sim and could improve on final release of GT6), but if you're me I will get both, since I probably wont be able to drive some other cars that will be in GT6 that wont be in assetto corsa.. (1200+ cars mod will take a while to model for Assetto corsa )

Physics don't change with controllers. It'll still feel great, the FFB won't be as strong, that's the only drawback, but even then, I like to run really light FFB so it wouldn't matter to me anyway.

People are saying it's really great even with a 360 controller, which is great, it has built in support for it.

does anyone know what goodies we are getting on the 22nd?

3 cars and 2 tracks but did Kunos announce what they will be?

Assetto Corsa video in which I've applied some filters to have a tonality, lighting, lens effect and realistic sound, all as though were captured from a camera in this position, its a onboard lap with Lotus 49 in Imola.

Should be noted that AF absolutely crushes performance in this game.

I have a 660ti and a 120hz monitor (and I like to play in 3D which requires 120fps to get 60fps).

Which means I have to turn down a lot of settings to get a framerate that's decent. Shockingly enough, I've found I can triple my framerate simply by turning off AF. And for each drop you go down from 16X, you also get a significant performance bump. Either DX11 really hates AF, they did something very off with the rendering, or there's a major bug in the engine.

EDIT:

They've marked it as a bug on their official forum. So let's hope they fix it sooner than later. Meanwhile, if you don't mind a muddy road, you can gain a lot of fps with this.

I noticed this too, going from 16X AF to 4x AF doubles my frame rate on my GTX680.
AA is really bad in this game and it doesn't seem like they're going to fix it looking at their attitude towards peoples complaints. So Graphically it's not very impressive to me, it's the worst looking game on my PC.
It's such a shame as the car and track models look beautifully done.

I'm pretty sure they are going to be addressing that issue, infact I remember reading somewhere about Nvidia are going to do some optimization testing on their end for AC. Still early days for a beta so we will see how it develope's in 2 or 3 month's from now.

Ahh ok I must have missed that, I just saw them suggesting peoples settings needed adjusting and showing pics of it looking good. But Pics don't show how bad it really is in motion. I hope they Get it sorted, it will look amazing with proper AA.

So don't bother trying to play this with a DualShock 4. You can kind of play it, it recognizes inputs, but it is nigh on impossible to steer.

Maybe I've got low standards or something, but I don't understand how some people can say this game looks bad. It looks great to me!

I think it looks good. Now that I know my framerate was being destroyed by AF and I've been able to turn everything else back up. I'm also running 4X AF (since it seems like the best middle ground of road IQ vs FPS destruction).

Anyone know if the devs are going to laser scan the 'ring and bring it as an official track?

I haven't kept up to date with the Ring ownership, but last time I heard no one owns the Ring yet, so Kunos can't get a license to include it..

Anyone else having a sound bug issue in replays with the Lotus 49? Did a few laps at Monza, went to watch the replay and the sound is really buggy, no issues with other cars.

Abarth graphics EsseEsse in Showrroom and then a return to Silverstone give a view where you can see the high-quality interior of the Abarth.

No issues at all with the Lotus 49, maybe you have a sound code error in your files. If it keeps happening even after a fresh restart I would suggest to uninstall and install it again.
