2 months for doing a car in Assetto Corsa (uber poly, uber details, uber sound)

6 months for PD for doing the same thing... with crap sound.

How many employers Kunos Simulazioni have?

Kaz... LOL.
Lol! He said 12 employees in the interview!

Yup, the ER team is going to AC and so are tons of the best F1 mod leagues. And there's tons of buzz going around between all of the top sim racers in the world about targeting AC as their next big competitive playground. The environment that's going to explode out of it is going to be like a new golden era of competitive sim racing. Saying I can't wait's one of the biggest understatements I've ever stated under.

Oh man, me and you both! I will probably still do iRacing as there's a lot of goodies coming, but this game is gonna take a lot of that iRacing time away! The very brief time I had with the prototype really impressed me!

Yeah and when I was in Silverstone I was surprised to hear that a lot of people were excited about AC as well, even a couple instructors heard about it.

Your absolute stupid trolling without any knowledge how game development works is starting to annoy me.

Let's see your "knowledge" instead of attacking people. Kunos Simulazioni work faster than PD try to dany that in a polite manner try to prove a point, or seriously STFU.

+1 about beeing polite and explaining why instead of saying something is stupid. It makes for a more interesting reading.

I don't know how to build an atomic bomb. But if one team can make one in a third of the time compared to another team, with much less resources, I know who's working more efficiently. Especially if there are other teams that can also do it quicker (also with less resources), so there's even more material to compare. You don't have to know all the internals to be able to judge output.

That said, PD's modeling time sucks compared to any other developer, so please let's not pollute every other games thread with it. ;)

Yamauchi said in 2007(!) that it could take a single person up to 6 months to model (why the heck are you even mentioning sound in that matter?) a single car. PD had ~90 people when they started to work on GT5, it took 'em 5 years for 200 cars (plus porting over and optimizing over 800 Standard cars), all the tracks, a complete new game engine, a complete new sound engine (samples aside) and all this on a console.

Also, even if Kunos works faster (which you cannot prove at all), I don't care, that you have to bash PD and troll in almost every post you make is a different story.

What if we talk about PD development times compared to Kunos instead?
What about we talk about Assetto Corsa instead and let PD out of this thread?

As much as I'd like PD to work "more efficiently" we need to understand they are working on outdated hardware and only God knows what tricks they have to pull to give us what they did. Granted they need to be more focused and perhaps could benefit from some internal restructuration but none of us knows that for sure!

Now, please back to Asseto Corsa. I know there are some people here already thinking of league racing, so you can sign me up right now!! Lol! Those Lotus Race/Track Car things will make for some awesome racing!!

PD don't model cars on outdated hardware, they model them on PC in 3D rendering programs just like every other developer.

Fact of the matter is PD said they take 6 months of man hours to create one car, pCARS devs say they take 3 months of man hours and AC dev's now say 2 months.

For the future of GT we really need to hope PD have seriously improved their work rate for modelling cars or we're going to be very dissapointed.

But yes, enough of that, this is an AC thread.

This really is an awesome interview.

The part that really made me happy was reading the bit on tire modeling, so interesting. Although a lot of it's hard to really comprehend Stefano always ends up describing his methods in an easily graspable way, gotta love it.

Anyway, this snippet just goes to show we can expect the same awesome "hands connected to the road" feel in AC as before, and even better it seems:

The model we see in netKar Pro V1.3, Ferrari Virtual Academy (FVA), and AC are all based on the idea of generating a “base” slip curve that is then adapted to the behaviour of the tyre. I call it “slip profile,” in netKar Pro and FVA this adaptation is done in steady state analysis, in AC I added the dynamic of the carcass and thread to the equations.

This not only makes the tyre more dynamic when put in extreme situations, like riding kerbs and so on, but also makes a big difference on flat roads, in the way it reacts to load transfer when you turn the steering wheel. I makes it feel… Rubbery.

Lol! You missed my point, was talking about the PS3... But I agree! Enough of that BS and let's keep it on topic!

haha last one keeps typing "ok now let's talk about AC enough with PD" it's been going like this for some time.

AC: Do you think the mutiplayer will have some seriousness to it? I mean a system more like iRacing? or they will go with a normal one ?

Lol! Well, no word yet about anything special... My guess(more like hope) is they'll incorporate some sort of championship/league functinality.

That was a great interview, I'm super excited for AC. There are going to be some many great choices for racing games in the near future.

Yes, it's amazing what they are doing with such a small team, a sim with great graphics? in-car details? great choice of cars? get in lol.

And championship/league functionality would have the same purpose, clean racing

The online functionality is going to be left completely open. The reason one pays for a monthly subscription to iRacing is because they provide the servers and ranking/official racing structure. Kunos is leaving all of that to the community by making the software almost completely open to modification and tweaking. Do you realize the insane potential there? Left to the open sim racing community it's easily possible for there to be a new system no one can even comprehend yet that can go above and beyond the iRacing SR system. It really is an amazing gift Kunos is giving us there. The only catch is the community then has to front the cost of the servers themselves. But there are so many dedicated sim racing groups with the resources available and dedication and passion needed to do so (including PURE) that it wont be a problem.

But that's for the somewhat far future. First the community will test the waters with small tweaks used to enhance the online experience for all. Just imagine it like a smartphone app store for sim racers in every situations. Forget new cars and tracks, that's easy. We're talking about plug-in penalty systems that work live in-race, new hud elements, ui overhauls, customization, animations, matchmaking registries, stat. Tracking... it just goes on and on. This thing is really gonna blow the genre and sport wide open.

I hate all this silence!! Can't wait for this game to come out! At least we should be close to getting that Demo!

Asseto Corsa's "Hype Machine" is weak sauce. The interview from gamescom was great, but show some in game footage or something :(

Sigh. Bermuda, you re a nice kid, but that was some weak ignorant post. They are not even 10 people, on a very tight budget so where should they get the time/manpower/funds to get a strong PR campaign going? I assume they are more than busy enough trying their best to get the game out this year.

Patience. They will build it, it will come.
