interesting post on kunos forum in the chit chat.

"Sim Dream Development (or Sim Dream for short) is a modding group who sell mods on their website assettocorsamodding.net. These mods are more often than not stolen, low-quality, and often ripped completely from other games and creators without permission. I'm pretty sure that selling content without the permission of the original creator is not only wrong but illegal, although I'm not 100% sure on the laws around this.

The community have known about them for years and afaik there was one attempt to shut them down after a mod creator complained. They changed their website name to assettocorsamodding.net (which was smart as it likely drives up traffic to their site) and have continued selling low-effort mods to unsuspecting racers. The mods on their website look good at first glance, but are cheap conversions from rFactor and Forza, with very little work done on the physics of the cars and how they drive in general. They're charging users $7-10 for each mod which is simply not worth it and I doubt that they have contacted the original creator before doing this.

I'm making this post because Sim Dream have now taken steps to falsely copyright strike other mod makers and content creators to take down their original content. A friend of mine recently received a copyright strike on YT for a mod review video that he had made which featured the GPL 1500cc mod by Bazza. This copyright strike was made by Sim Dream. His review fell under fair use but was still removed. Sim Dream's website lists the "Assetto Corsa Classic Competition Mod" which features several cars that have been taken directly from Bazza's GPL 1500cc mod without his permission. I'm not sure why they striked that video but I find it incredibly hypocritical that they did this considering that they steal content.

A few days later Sim Dream striked Bazza's mod that he was hosting on Mediafire and the file was removed. So, not only did they steal his mods but they've also taken action to remove Bazza's mods and claim they have the copyrights to them. I'm not sure how or why this is allowed to happen but it's totally wrong.

I'm hoping that this post exposes some of the wrongdoing of Sim Dream and creates a discussion on how we can stop them from profitting of the works of others. I wouldn't mind if they simply converted old mods from other games for free but they are actively making money and being di*** in the process. Let me know if you've had any negative experiences with their mods or services and hopefully something can be done.

TLDR: Sim Dream steal mods from others and create low-quality ripped versions that they then sell without permission from the original creators. They have recently abused the copyright system to issue false copyright claims on YT and against mod creators."

I just had a chance to fully check out the updated Highlands (Scottish Highlands) circuit... WOW. Updated to photorealistic quality textures and cleaned up nicely. I don't know who did the update (yes I do, it's from AssettoDrive) but kudos! The original looked good, but... NOTE: For some reason, some crazy person  put a restrictor on top speed at 200kph. Hah! Delete the ai_hints.ini file in data directory to fix that.

The pitboxes work Ok, but for some the red box doesn't show where you have to stop for some pitboxes (not all). If you stop in the right place it still works but if you're not sure where then it's guesswork. Anybody know what causes this? The only thing I can see in 3dSimEd is that apart from the first two boxes, the rest are far higher for some reason, but I'm unsure if this would have this effect.
Could you try this version. It only contains the pits kn5 so simply drop in track folder replacing the old one.

The "duplicate track mod" thread was super helpful, I would be forever indebted to someone if they did the same for cars...but that's gotta be a ton of work! My PC hasn't arrived yet so I'm trying to collect good mods and throw out the trash ones but I have no way of knowing if any of them are trash yet.

Does anyone use the Porsche RS Spyder from that jumbo LMP pack that was on here? I have 3 different RS Spyder mods but the one in this pack is the only one with all the liveries I want. My theory is if someone put the effort in to add all these liveries, equal effort was put in the rest of the car. Again, no way for me to prove that yet, but it makes sense in my head!

Sometimes is the opposite (I'm not saying it is in this case).
Sometimes the effort on mod is so weak that the best way to hide/camouflage, is the quantity of liveries above mod quality.
Doesn't make sense, but that is what experience shows.

What is involved with a copyright strike? Can the same be done to Simdream’s YT channel and whichever file hosting site they use?

Or probably just rename the file to keep it instead of deleting it. The point was to use the 2-way traffic and have a leisure drive or pass slower traffic.

At this rate, I no longer have a need to purchase Automobilista 2. :D:cheers:

Yeah, without the ability to actually drive any of these cars yet, it's the only thing I can base an opinion on. Commitment to historical accuracy matters a lot to me and the liveries best represent it, at least superficially. I'm sure once I go through all my mods, I'll be pleasantly surprised with some, and wildly disappointed with others.

hello dear friendsView attachment 933555

as I showed in the photo there is a setup invalid error

mod koenigsegg ccgt

couldn't understand what the solution is
Click the wrench icon and see if "ride height" text is red. If yes, increase it until it turns yellow or white.
---

I hate these dudes so much. Probably not healthy for me to carry such hate for a group of people... I really want something to be done about them, but I also want us to stay safe.

Where is the texture update for Highlands?

I love me some vhe_ reworks. Consistent quality of work. Keep doin' what you're doing man. It is so very much appreciated.

Does anyone have high resolutions skins for these pups, or is there a similar mod out there of better quality? I've not found it in my searches. I'd be happy with just some higher res skins. Love racing these on occasion. Reminds me of my obsession I had with NR2003, back in the day running the Craftsman Truck Series.

Yes. I look at it from this perspective. There are 2 types of car mods, the driveable ones and grid fillers. I am obsessed with having a full realistic grid from a historical (or modern for that matter) season. And I need only 1 car to be driveable from the lot and I'm happy. Perfect example are Simdream BTCC packs. They give you all the correct models and liveries from every season of btcc from 1991-1999. And I haven't and probably never will drive any of them. I keep them so I can drive 1991 season with Kunos m3 (IMO probably the best Kunos car in the game) or Shaun Clarke's Vauxhall Cavalier (excellent car), seasons 1994 and 1995 with the other, 1995 model, Cavalier from Shaun Clarke, the 1995 or 1996 with the BMW 320 from Peter Marek and seasons 1998 and 1999 with Peter Marek Nissan Primera. Both brilliant mods, probably one of the best available. A little BOP is needed of course and sometimes tweaking of ai.ini, but not much at all. So these low quality mods (I would never buy them and don't recommend anybody doing that) are what is allowing me to and helping me to enjoy the best this sim has to offer. And the same goes for many others low quality mods. Often they serve a different purpose from what they were designed for.

Dont know how much you all are in fantasy tracks. I have updated and fixed several things on the "Area 51 track" and
is now working pretty good.

I fixed the pit area and is working correctly. Now has 20 pit stalls. Now has new AI files, could be refined a litlle more.
Added side lines so cars go around the track pretty good now. Combined all the items into one Config file did not change
any parameters. There is some night lighting that works which is part of the Config file.

Area 51 track is a very fast airport type track with one slower section. The track is pretty wide open far as racing. Tested with
a couple of my open wheel cars. Track graphics could be enhanced up more and the replay cameras are not very good.

Please note I am removing my Update 1 to Area 51 track and there is a new Update 2 on the GtPlanet Page. Go to this page for update:

Makes sense, I kinda figured. It races real well tho... :dopey: (I BOP'd a GroupC/GTP set and turned up the aggression for a high speed battle)

So Beezer215 if you did this upgrade, thanks BIG! First, we can't have too many 10k+ beauties like this. The road texture (and the in-town cobbles), the hills and their colors, the exit route from town... the list of great updates goes on! It's almost too beautiful to race in but ... (8:30pm start is good)
