Quite a collection. I wonder if that Mosport is different than the one I downloaded a few months ago. Have to check that out:cheers:
Just gave Mosport a go, and i think i'm in love.
Saw on the AC forum that people are giving Rainmaker some trouble over the road mesh he uses, which results in bumpier surfaces in corners, but i don't mind the extra rumble i'm grateful the guy is releasing these great looking tracks.

ps. Since 1.3 all mod cars feel light and flimsy to me compared to the Kunos cars.

@mister dog I feel the bumpiness on the corners too!! It's weird. I guess it's because his mesh isn't quite dense, as it should be on the corners, and that's what causes the bumps. It totally makes sense too. I wish he would fix that physics mesh - it would turn a really good track surface into an amazing track surface! Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to want to believe the people suggesting that he try this.

I'm jerking around with the FFB now, do you have any canned effects activated for the road and kerb FFB? AC's FFB was so numb on my CSR before i had those at 70% :embarrassed:, now i bumped them down again and it helped with that bumpiness/clipping.

70?:odd::eek::eek: I have mine all at 15-20 but on G27. Going to take a crack at the C7R on Nurb GP?

Yeah and after testing some more on 0 the kerb feel was non existent again, so now i have it at kerbs 70 and road 30. But i'm still experimenting though :D

Also trying to assess if Rainmakers tracks are truly more bumpy like people say, not sure yet.
I tried the C7R already but only managed a 2:02 so still some way off posting a pic.

I always found the force feedback in AC to be better without any canned effect, so every canned effect at zero % for me,
I still can feel all kerbs and road bumps, no problem.

One thing I have selected and love since 1.3.x is the enhance understeer effect, try it if you have not already.

An other setting I have found effective is to set force feedback higher than before 1,3,x in advanced/control setting and fine tune the feeling adjusting the strength for every car with the + and - keys in the numeric pad of your keyboard in game while driving.

My Force Feedback settings are:
Gain - 87%
Filter - 0%
Minimum Force - 7%
Kerb Effects - 0%
Road Effects - 0%
Slip Effects - 0%

This is with a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel.

Dayum!:

So while looking for actual onboards of the car, I stumbled across this:

Meh. Gotta have moar anti-lag.

18 months of work and it's now released. RSR has released their scratch made F3 mod. In case you aren't aware, not only did they make the very popular RSR Live Timing App, but they also made the outstanding Zandvoort track that is now in Assetto Corsa. A lot of work has gone into this mod, I daresay it may be one of the best researched and most detailed mods in the history of sim racing. It is a must have if you have any interest in open wheelers. Read all about it here in the AC Forum. Download the car and skin packs here or go to Race Department. Sounds are custom by elMariachi90.

Thanks for the tip, Johnny. This car behaves just about how I would expect such a car to behave. Tons of grip, but snappy when you lose it. I.e. you have to react fast when correcting.

Comparing this to the PX1 Aura, that's what I thought was a little bit off with the mod from the URD team. When you lose grip with that, it kind of slides and is easily corrected. Given the extreme amount of grip on those LMP cars I would think it would behave more like this F3 car. Snappy and difficult to correct when you lose the rear. At least looking at WEC races that seems to be the case.

I have no clue how these cars are IRL of course. These are just my expectations from watching TV races and seeing how the cars behave/move on the surface.

Question, have most mods updated to the V6 tyre model now? I remember most of them feeling a lot worse compared to the Kunos cars after V6 was released so i'll only bother with those that are also based on V6.

I saw a comment from the creator of the new Vauxhall Cavalier that he is using V5, as he didn't know how V6 works yet.

I can't say enough good things about that Koenigsegg One:1... That car is amazing. Honestly, I think Kunos should purchase the mod. It could use some finishing touches - a couple tweaks here or there and then it will be one of the best overall cars in the game. The sounds are outstanding too! I love listening to replays of my laps in that car.

This was posted in the News and Discussion thread but it also belongs here. Turn on your surround if you have it, you're in for a treat:

If those 11 other cars are as good as the Porsche 935 K1/K2 we are going to have some AMAZING cars headed our way over the next couple of years. This modding group DRM is amazing!

I won yesterday a copy of Assetto Corsa.

Can somebody tell me the best mods so far? Cars and Tracks you HAVE TO HAVE when you play AC? (especially Sounds and Physics are most important to me, cockpit doesn't matter)

Thanks in advance!

Cars that are solid good IMO:

Ford Sierra Cosworth
Mazda 787B
Corvette C6R (by URD)
McLaren MP4-13 (by Virtua Simulazioni)
Formula Renault (by Virtua Simulazioni)
Shelby Cobra Competition

But I haven't tested any new mods for a long while, there may be some more good cars. They can be found on the official forum or RaceDepartment.

Tracks - well, this depends on what type of tracks do you like, there are many nicely done tracks. Donington, Algarve, Sachsenring, Montreal, or even Pikes Peak...

@Rage Racer has it covered well but honestly, I'd stick to the stock content for a while until you get a feel for the game. All the stock tracks are laser scanned except for Zandvoort but you'd swear it was after you drive it. Between them and the stock content there's lots to keep you interested for quite a while.

Seriously, although mods is a very interesting aspect of AC, just one day into the game, how about trying to understand the original content first.
One other thing, you might not understand cockpit view yet, but you will.
Leave us a few more days and we will tell you all about correct FOV, now breathe and take one day at the time, it is a long journey, enjoy the scenery, it is worth every second.

Ok for clarification, I know Assetto Corsa quiet well, as I have driven it multiple times at my friends house. But now that I own an own copy I want some extra cars, which are Quality wise Close to the standart cars.

Also I'm far from being new to SimRacing. I own SCGT (the first Simulator :P ), LFS, NetCar Pro, rFactor Pro, GTR2, R3E and some more. Eventhough AC is a Little bit different from the Feeling in 2 laps I understand how it works and how to turn a wheel.

And let me tell you something about FOV. I for myself have a complete simrig, with a seat, stearing wheel, motec/speedometer. So in how far should a Cockpit view make it more realistic. I can't see the Point to have another Motec/steering wheel 50 centimetres in front of my own steering wheel....
For this reason I use zoom in on Cockpit view till I only see a small part of the Dashboard and when that's not possible I use the Hood cam.
This paragraph is not meant to be rude, but only to clarify that noteveryone thinks Cockpit view is soooo Simulator-like. Especially when you have your own Cockpit right in front of you.

@Rage Racer and @Johnnypenso: Thanks for your help and Input. I appreciate it :)

That's pretty much what Cote was getting at, he's a strong advocate for "proper" FOV because it adds so much to the immersion. A lot of people that came from console racing and have no idea of the benefits of a realistic FOV and it sometimes takes some convincing to get them to try racing without a zoomed in FOV and no virtual wheel on your screen. Clearly you don't fall into that category but he had no way of knowing that and was just trying to inform about what some of us consider one of the biggest benefits of PC sims over console racers. But since you've got that sorted, no worries!

As for mods, there are a lot of good tracks out there, and some that are not so good. In my experience there are more good ones than bad ones, that's not to say the good ones are as good as what Kunos makes but that bar is set pretty high. With mod cars it's really hit and miss, there are some good ones out there but a lot of bad ones too. Usually on racedepartment or the AC forum the mods will have reviews with them so you can get an idea of the quality before downloading them. If you don't mind paying a few bucks, URD makes some excellent payware mods and they actually made one of the Corvette race cars included in the game so they know what they're doing. They have a few offerings for AC (GT3, DTM, IndyCar/Indy Lights) and they cost less than a couple pints, I have the GT3 and IndyCar mods and they're some of my favorite cars in my garage.
