Ok for clarification, I know Assetto Corsa quiet well, as I have driven it multiple times at my friends house. But now that I own an own copy I want some extra cars, which are Quality wise Close to the standart cars.

Also I'm far from being new to SimRacing. I own SCGT (the first Simulator :P ), LFS, NetCar Pro, rFactor Pro, GTR2, R3E and some more. Eventhough AC is a Little bit different from the Feeling in 2 laps I understand how it works and how to turn a wheel.

And let me tell you something about FOV. I for myself have a complete simrig, with a seat, stearing wheel, motec/speedometer. So in how far should a Cockpit view make it more realistic. I can't see the Point to have another Motec/steering wheel 50 centimetres in front of my own steering wheel....
For this reason I use zoom in on Cockpit view till I only see a small part of the Dashboard and when that's not possible I use the Hood cam.
This paragraph is not meant to be rude, but only to clarify that noteveryone thinks Cockpit view is soooo Simulator-like. Especially when you have your own Cockpit right in front of you.

@Rage Racer and @Johnnypenso: Thanks for your help and Input. I appreciate it :)

Thank you for the clarifications, I got misled from reading your post, your appeared less advance that you are, and obviously you are very advanced. Please enjoy your SIM experience the way you see fit.

One mod combo you might want to explore which is one of my favorite is the Mazda from pure either on ss Peyregrosse-Mandagout or Transfagarasan North.

If you go to Race Department and sort the mod car list by most downloaded, that is a pretty good headstart:

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/categories/ac-cars.6/?order=download_count

I have most of those and for the most part they are quite good. The Miura and S/C version of the Cobra were such good mods that Kunos licensed them and are now in the base game.

As @BrandonW77 has pointed out you couldn't know how much knowledge I have and also I have misunderstood your post. I apologize for that. I thought you are one of those who try to convince me that Cockpitview is the only realistic/right possibility (I mean the view were you have another Wheel in front of your wheel) But you actually meant the complete opposite.
And thank you for your tipp with the Mazda and the both cool tracks. I really like

Also thanks to all of you who helped me finding good tracks and cars. I really appreciate it!

Thanks @BrandonW77 . The URD guys make an excellent work. I know their quality work from rFactor 2 and I also know some of the URD guys as I'm active in GTR2 and rFactor modding community (were some of the guys came from).

I'm a livery designer and when I get bored I maybe will start skinning cars for AC aswell :)

All good, just to be clear my favourite view in AC and any SIM which allows to remove the animation and the wheel is cockpit view. If it is not possible to remove the wheel, I am not driving it.
I use a 1/1 FOV on a projected screen and I have aligned every thing to feel like I am in the car, with a (partial) view of the car gauges through my real wheel.
Glad you are enjoying the Miata

I just discovered this program and this is easily the best thing that has ever come to this game.

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/actools-cars-manager.6518/

You can edit the car's info and also update the preview image! Perfect those pesky mods that aren't well made with their modding community as the brand of the car.

Also, what's the best graphics filter? There's so many to choose from. I want something as realistic as possible.

For those of you who have modded cars installed in Assetto Corsa, I'm sure you've come across times where all of a sudden those modded cars don't produce sound any longer after an update to the sim from Kunos. Usually within a day someone releases a "sound fix" that will allow your modded cars to produce sounds in the latest version of Assetto Corsa.

Well, I appear to be having the opposite problem. I tried to fire up my Lotus 72D and then my Lotus Type 25 at Imola & Spa and neither would produce any sounds. If I drove on rumble strips or grass or smashed into a wall I would hear those appropriate sounds though. I tried resetting Assetto Corsa and then I checked other cars from Dream Pack 3 (Lambo Super Trofeo, Ford Escort, Gallardo SL) and all three were making appropriate sounds for engine, transmission, etc...

I really was looking forward to driving the Lotus 72D this morning, so I resorted to switching the 3 files (common.bank, common.strings.bank and GUID.txt) back to their original official files. Lo and behold, my Lotus cars were producing sounds again. Unfortunately, I know this means that some of my modded cars won't make sounds any longer.

Can anyone test to see if they're getting sounds from the Lotus 72D or Lotus Type 25 if you're using the "sound mod fix" to support modded cars?

A console player or two might shed a tear watching this video, but for pc players it's going to be like Christmas. Quite a unique take on promo videos too, well worth a minute of your time (Source):

And I assume everyone is aware of the release of this absolutely stunning mod:

That doesn't matter to me. My PC is crappy so it's a strict time attack game for me, the PS4 version will be for racing but I'll still have the PC version on steam so I can have my favourite Mods as well.

Looks awesome, Kunos really need to try to get some mods on the console or find a way to let the user obtain them. I want to be able to drive around tesco car park dammit Also that Ferrari F1 concept mod looks fantastic. Console gamers are gonna miss out on some great stuff if Kunos dont find a work around.

The thing is that you can get away with it on PC because no money is changing hands. If you put it on the console it becomes official content, money is being charged for the game, therefore you have to get a license to use the product in the game. I'm not saying that can't be done, the Lamborghini Miura and the AC Cobra wete both originally mods that Kunos obtained the license for. Getting a license for Porsche is a whole different thing.

Sure, i was thinking aswell as getting some of them officially in the game, they should find a way for console gamers to get them via mods so not official content. I know thats probally impossible on console with cars but tracks would surely not be a problem regarding licenses etc

Can't see it happening, just too many issues. Don't think you'd ever get Sony or MS to agree to something like that. It would have to go through them anyway, I don't believe you can put anything into a PS or MS game without going through them and if that's the case it's official content..yada yada...ain't gonna happen:lol:

Hey guys, I just downloaded the Honda NSX mod from RD (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/honda-nsx.4768/) but when I click the button to go on track it just crashed back to the AC menu. I've installed other mods (like the Ferrari F1 Concept) and they worked fine, so it's not because I misplaced any folders. I've heard that some mods don't work with the latest update, is this one of those cases? If so, that's such a shame...

@LeGeNd-1 I can't remember if this was the problem with the NSX mod, but mine runs fine... I think the problem had to do with the AERO.ini file. Next time you have a car just crash the track back to the AC menu, go into your LOGS folder and open the most recent file. Scroll all the way down to the end of the file and slowly start moving backward through the file. You should see the error. In this case, I'm guessing it's the common AERO error of older mods because I'm not a great AC debugger, yet I know how to fix this problem.

Now, go to the folder where you put the NSX car mod. Go into the sub-folder called DATA. Open the file that's named AERO.ini and look for a section called: [DATA] - it should be the second section of the file, under [Header]. Delete everything from [DATA] all the way until you get to [WING_0]. Even delete the heading called [DATA]. You want to be left with something that looks like:

[HEADER]
Version=0.9

[WING_0]
NAME=BODY

That will fix your problem completely. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

I know that modding is a pc thing a besides GTR and RACE I haven't done an awful lot with mods. I saw on the official forums that there is a big section where all the mods are discussed. Now, Kunos is a small team who is developping their game for PC and Consoles. I was wondering: that what are the chances of certain mods being "officialised" and "licensed" for the game so that content can be added with the help of modders?

There are mods , like that Porsche above, which will be probably impossible to get licensed but others like the Vauxall Vectra '93 BTCC could be a bit easier.

...or am I completely off?

You're not completely off. The Corvette C6.R was made by the URD mod team and it was good enough that Kunos incorporated it into the game, same with the Shelby Cobra I believe. I think I read somewhere that Zandvoort was also built by a mod team and later incorporated into the game (hence why it's not laser scanned). I'd guess the mods have to be really really good in order for this to happen though, and while some tracks could fit that bill a lot of the mod cars probably wouldn't be up to snuff. It's possible though!

I wouldn't say it's about the quality of the mod, there's plenty of mods that are high quality and could be made official content with very little work. The URD team were making a car kunos already had plans to add. I don't think there's any more to it than that.

Well, if the mod URD was making wasn't very good I doubt Kunos would have included it. But URD is known for their excellent quality so it was a no-brainer. I'm sure a license is still required in order for it to be added as official content, and the manufacturer probably wouldn't sign off on it if the quality wasn't very good. The Cobra was also added, not sure if Kunos already planned to add that car or if it was just due to its good quality, but it started its life as a high quality mod.
Same with Zandvoort: "The Dutch Zandvoort track is especially remarkable as it is the first track in Assetto Corsa not to be laser-scanned. Unlike the other tracks, Zandvoort hasn’t been produced 100% in-house but is based on a modding track that has been brought up to AC standards."

http://www.virtualr.net/assetto-corsa-first-zandvoort-footage

I wasn't saying every high quality mod will be included, but if a mod is going to be included it will likely need to be high quality (and probably something they were already looking to include). I'd say it's pretty unlikely that any/many mods will end up as official content, but there is precedent for it happening.

I'm pretty sure the Miura and Countach were also originally mods.

I knew the Miura existed as a mod before it was in the game but didn't know if it was actually the mod that got included or if Kunos made their own. Didn't know about the Countach. 👍

The Miura, Shelby Cobra and Zandvoort were all built by someone else other than Kunos.

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions! I'll give this a try and report back 👍

I verified that I hit the same problem with the NSX, crashed back to the menu while loading the car/track. I made @ALB123's edits, which essentially means you're removing a few lines like this:

Code:
[DATA] ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
REFERENCE_AREA=1.5 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
CD=0.445 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
CL=1.6 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
FRONT_SHARE=0.40 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
CDX=1 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data
CDY=1 ; OBSOLETE SECTION. Must copy to keep AC from crashing, but use WING section for body data

That change allowed me to load the NSX onto Silverstone, but then had the no-sound problem that I've found with the following random mods:

AM V8 Vantage
Veyron
M1 procar in BMW section, the other 2 outside BMW seem to work fine
Brabham BT44
Honda NSX's
F50
F40 Competizione
F40 GTO
312pb
Porsche Carrera GT
BMW V12 LMR
Ford GT40 MKII
Lexus LFA
Pug 908

I know there's a fix for the sounds, I've just not been able to pull myself away from the wheel and/or work long enough to investigate. :dunce:
