Can't wait for Tiago Lima's updated LeMans...

I always thought it was quite good already, looking forward to seeing how he's improved it. I can already see he's relocated the ferris wheel to its new location. Does he have an ETA for its release?

I really hope he takes his time, looks like its going to be a stunner. Trees look a lot better already, detail around the track too and now he seems to be working on the pit area which needed a lot of work still IMO (stands and pit buildings looked very basic before).

Been experimenting with a few car mods recently, the 90's BTCC cars are all excellent ('90 and '93 Vauxhall Cavalier, '99 Nissan Pimara), as is the Morgan 3 wheeler, MX-5 and the numerous F1 cars. Was surprised how many good mods are available, even if you do have to search beyond all the ripped off Forza models to find them!

I know that modding is a pc thing a besides GTR and RACE I haven't done an awful lot with mods. I saw on the official forums that there is a big section where all the mods are discussed. Now, Kunos is a small team who is developping their game for PC and Consoles. I was wondering: that what are the chances of certain mods being "officialised" and "licensed" for the game so that content can be added with the help of modders?

There are mods , like that Porsche above, which will be probably impossible to get licensed but others like the Vauxall Vectra '93 BTCC could be a bit easier.

...or am I completely off?
BTCC cars are quite a problem, this is because you have to get a license from vauxhall and the BTCC licencors(forgot the name). Then you have to pay the mod creators a few hundred or thousand. Afterthat its starting to become known that the BTCC chaps dont like sharing information on their cars, it was a major issue for me when creating the physics for that Cavalier. Its also why the BTCC laguna was dropped by SMS.

Then again we are dealing with kunos, Marco the licencor is one if not the best in the business

I know that BTCC is extremely complicated. I read something about that on the Codies forum if I remember well..

Why couldn't they just try come close to the specs by licensing the HSCC version and build the car on those specs? No BTCC licensing, cars are run by independants.

Look abroad Marco, Argentina would maybe be happy to get their series (TC2000, Turismo Nacional) more known on the European continent. Lot's of European, US and Japanese manufactures. :D

High chance this will not happen until the tension calms down, there are a few british devs at kunos, as you may know Argentina and Britain dont have the best of relationships to the point where its rather hard to get a flight to that country now from here. Its a bit of a risk factor and a silly one at that, you kind of just want to tell them to grow up. Doesnt help that they threw out the most popular TV show in the world and then their ministers unprofessionally tried to go after the BBC.

Back on topic Kunos tend to directly visit the places they get licenses from especially if the companies cant get their cars to Vallelunga so until the two sides hug it out there will likely not be a license of TC2000.

On a brighter note a TC2000 mod is being developed, a few models are close to being completed, if the quality is good ill help with the physics.

H982 FKL....FTW!!

Saw this on i think one of Wiz's videos, and managed to track it down:

odometer_app-jpg.92553

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/odometer.6218/

You can open the ini file and change the units to miles, or rescale the app if you find it too big (check the reviews).
What's really cool, in my opinion, is you don't even have to leave that odometer app displayed on your screen at all times. As long as you have it activated it will calculate total miles driven in a session and total. So, you can just pop it up when you want to, but it will still keep track of your total miles driven with each particular car for as long as it's "on", even though it may be hidden from display for months...

I thought Tiago Lima did the quick conversion tracks that weren't that good? Sounds like he's upped his game.

I'm surprised La Sarthe isn't one of those tracks that every game has as standard. You know, like Spa, Silverstone and Monza. I mean it hosts the biggest race of the year.

iRacing is developing a laser scan version of it at the moment. I play the one in GSCE occasionally, it's pretty good.

I've tried several of Tiago's tracks and they're all top notch. I think he's one of the better track modders.

Apparently the Le Mans license is very expensive, maybe Kunos can afford it after they take in some sweet console coin.

La Sarthe is a boring track. It would be way down my list of preferred tracks if it were a laser scanned original. Having it as a mod is perfect:P:tup:

It's boring in, say, an MX-5, but in something with a lot more go I think it's a great track, makes you feel like a pro endurance racer, especially the final sector then rolling through the first sector through the grand stands.

I love the long straights through the trees, and if you're looking for a challenge corner wise i think Indianapolis and the Porsche curves tick that box.
