@brownninja97 please make sure that Ferrari has some steering weight to it, most creators of virtual open wheelers make the steering uber light which takes away all the feeling. Like you're driving a non FFB wheel all of a sudden. Supposedly that's to replicate the high downforce but I doubt those cars feel like there's no wheels attached to them in real life...

Thats the thing, they are all very light in FFB, i drove something pretty similar to the Formula Abarth at brands hatch a few times and the owners get a lot of people complaining about how it feels because its light. its due to the lack of mechanical grip on these cars, well i can go into more detail but that requires.......effort and im very sick right now.

Well luckily i have a solution, now you have the standard issue ffb multipler which can be changed in game, trouble with that is that it multiplies everything, road effects, bumps, curbs etc etc.

To combat this i introduced steer assist into the car, sadly few mods use this, what this does is change the ffb for the car only, the lower it is the heavier the feedback. I've set it to 50(realistic would be 65-70ish but people would hate that and many will ignore the steer assist function(case & point would be the oreca flm by IER) though you can adjust it however you want, its in the setup area under general

Wooohaaa that NSX is very awesome. Nice drive, extremely well modelled.

I also tried the Mclaren V6 Turbo F1. Also very very good.

The Le Mans track mod, .... not there yet. But getting there.

What is it, specifically, that you don't like about the recent face lift LeMans recevied?

The NSX and NSX-R are absolutely amazing cars to drive in Assetto Corsa. I almost can't believe that they're not official content. I've seen a few complaints about the body roll in the base NSX, but I think it's simulated perfectly. If you watch old videos of the NSX on a track, circa 1990 or so, the car did lean quite a bit - at least in comparison to today's supercars. Remember, a car that came out in 1990 is designed and engineered with 1980s technology. It takes years for a brand new car to hit the pavement.

From what I've read it really depends on the car. I've spoken with someone who had a go with a Formula Renault at Brands and he said the steering was so heavy that his arms were sore for several days afterward. And just the other day I was reading comments from Alexander Rossi talking about how very heavy the steering in an IndyCar is, granted they don't have power steering but it's well known that they have very heavy steering (which sadly isn't replicated in rF2). I'm with Dog though, really don't like the super lightness in most sim formula cars because I can't feel what they're doing and thus have a hard time controlling them. So I've tried to find comments from open-wheel drivers to see if they actually are this light feeling, it seems some cars do have light steering while others have very heavy steering (there doesn't seem to be much middle ground, probably depends on if they have power steering or not). Interesting to see you say the Formula Abarth has light steering because that's one of the few sim open wheelers that I think has a nice weight to the wheel and I quite enjoy driving it. I've never had the pleasure of driving one in real-life but I did get to drive a Spec Racer Ford several years ago and its steering was so heavy it felt like a Flintstone's car.

Well, I game a couple of mod tracks a try. Le Mans 2015 sure has the layout correct and also the curves are correct as far as I can tell. What I think can be improved on are the road textures and especially the white lines and curbs. Both seem to have a grayish layer on top of them which makes it very hard to tell were I am going.

Oh hell that little Lancia is awesome too!

On the subject of F1 steering weight, I'm in the same camp with mister dog and Brandon. At low speeds I can believe that the steering is light (these cars weigh ~600kg after all). But the weight should increase with speed as more and more downforce is produced. At high speed corners with 5G it should be very heavy. Now the real F1 cars have power steering to make it easier for the drivers, but it should still require some strength to turn it (that's why F1 drivers fitness train after all). Without power steering it would be impossibly heavy - I remember Mark Webber in his debut race in a Minardi (where he finished 5th in Melbourne) did NOT have power steering in his car. He was completely wasted after the race.

In game I could turn up the FFB Gain, but as you all probably know that will muddle up the pure steering forces or worse make the wheel FFB clip. So it's not really a satisfactory solution. Basically the car's suspension geometry and aero physics have to be right and the right steering weight should present itself. Unless the fault is in Kunos' physics/FFB engine, then there's nothing we can do...

Just did a lap in the Lotus F1 Turbo from Kunos. That car has pretty good feeling in the steering.

The Formula Renault mod, although excellently modelled, I find it very hard to believe that a car would steer so light.

Yeah the old F1 cars feel good (Lotus 25/42/72/98 and Lauda's Ferrari), but the newer ones just feels too light. Same case in Game Stock Car, older F1s feel ok, but newer ones feel like a leaf. I suspect they are simulating the power steering in newer cars. It's great for realism, but in a game where we don't feel G-forces it's very unnerving to have so little feedback.

If we all have a motion rig it would be ok, but since we don't I think it's fair to exaggerate the steering weight a bit. Just one of those things that gets lost in translation from real > virtual I guess.

In other news, someone is working on a mod for Wonder Woman's car. :D

If this happens to a mod, usually as they drive away from you, it is very easy to fix in the data folder of that particular car , altering the lods.ini file distance switch value.

For those interested, this is another link which sometimes offer surprisingly good looking and decent to drive cars.

One thing I like to do with mod street cars, to test them, is to have a spin on Lake Louise, a must have, totally worth the donation, almost a game with in the game, and drive them on the proper side of the road, as we would do testing a car IRL.

It's a random photo I came across on the web, was just trying to make a joke, wasn't criticizing AC.

I did not thought you were, just that I had downloaded an Audi mod the other day, that was doing that because it is missing a lod and found out that changing the switching distance cured the issue, I just wanted to share in case someone else ever got the same funny incident.

I'm not sure what the story was behind the photo, just popped up in a random Google image search and presumed it was a modder having a bit of fun. I had the opposite thing happen to me in GT6, when karts would be on my side monitors the driver would disappear!

Best day of the week to release a mod
I'll be sure to give it a spin tonight and i'll try out your advice with the steer assist.

I like this Porsche:

They're definitely hit or miss. Download them all - try 'em and delete what you don't like. 95% of them are going to feel much different than default Kunos official cars so you're going to get a lot of subjective opinions on which ones are "good" or not.

I think a lot of those ripped cars have kinda dodgy physics which is why some of them really feel off.

Ferrari F300 is out lads, was meant to be out earlier, had a issue of the dedicated OP falling asleep

Very nice! Love the sound, physics and model. Is it possible to change the Tcam view so it is higher and further backwards? This will make it more like the Mclaren 89 mod. I took it out for a spin at Spa. Lap after lap after lap :D

Yup. Most of them stink, in my opinion. Very hit or miss.

I like the 944, Cayman GT4 and 2.7 RS. The other are nice too but there is just to much to test.
