From my understanding AC doesn't simulate loose surface physics yet, so how did they implement the gravel physics? Is it just a general reduction in grip with extra bumpiness?

Which tracks?
Ah yeah should have mentioned, comes down to he first page of the track downloads at RD almost. This week i downloaded the updated Spielberg, Sportsland Sugo, the Maze circuit, Poznan and updated Tsukuba. There are new drift tracks too but seeing i suck at that i didn't bother.

I updated my track mods library and man, there are some really good mods now in there. Besides the ones mister dog mentioned, I also love Algarve, that is among the best mods I ve seen. I just wish the responsible modders would overhaul the last-gen foliage and surroundings at Transfaragasan and Solitude, then I d be all set. Edit: Oh no, wait! I also need Potrero de los Funes, but then I m all good. :P

Tiago Lima has been doing excellent work on Assetto Corsa tracks. He's responsible for Algarve International, Tsukuba, LeMans among many others. Algarve might be my favorite track in AC right now... I love the layout so much.

the tyre model update is global for v4 and upwards afaik. I thought v5 and v6 had an issue but i was mistaken, some asshats on racedepartment made it seem like i killed their mother when i made that mistake.

Of course the new parameters add their own characteristics. More notably V7 will be faster and have more grip but be more unstable.

Sadly people think easier means arcade, disappointing really especially when they preach how much of a sim racer they are or flat out lie about all this fancy racing experience.

So, does that mean cars that had v4 tires or newer are automatically updated to v7 even if the modder doesn't update the car? I think I'm misunderstanding...
Slightly confused myself, since some of the cars on RD have been specifically updated for tyre model 7, for example:

My point is that temps work and camber works. A glitch made temps fail completely before and camber was having very odd results.

its better to be on the new tyres but the old ones also got effected.

I don't think that was the discussion though. @Whitestar was asking if mod cars were already on v7 tires or if they'll need to be individually updated to v7 by the mod creator. I believe they need to be individually updated by the creator, yes?

Yes, sorry i misinterpreted the question earlier. Modders will have to manually update(depending on the car id say you are around 2-4seconds off pace, URD EGT is a good example(they used to smash the GT3 cars, now they lag behind)). 1.5 was massively significant, im still working on it for my stuff to make sure its fine. I'm tempted to hold off until 1.6 because my money is on them refining it slightly, a few people noticed a few minor problems

Tell that to the idiots who run PRC. Their latest article is basically saying the latest physics are dumbed down for consoles and it's impossible to spin the cars.

If you defend AC, no doubt they'll brand you a Kunos shill/worshipper  How these guys can have any followers is beyond me...

I'm not gonna get into details regarding that but Sev lied, A LOT in that post. His experience is with a Miata and MR2.

I thought screw it i might as well test their points.

Everything off, 30oc, 100% track grip(to show "worst case scenario of realism"). No assists(i normally run with 30% stability because im a casual). Tyre blankets because im too lazy to drive multiple laps

T1 at Spa, Monza and Imola was the test.

Floored it out a each T1 with all GT2, GT3 & C7R. Span out all three times.

Its not possible, no matter what i tried, you cant save it, I cant get what they are getting.

Due to constant pestering from the physics artists we now have damn near full telemetry so if they identify problems then they must back it up.

----------------------------------------------

As to James aka Austin and Sev ive been in up and down terms with them attempting to remain neutral in their eyes which has worked and he has been caught with his pants down many a time by me.

I could whistleblow him but its pointless and id just be doing what he is doing

Bad apples will always exist, some of them do it on purpose, others dont, some do it in rage, some do it in ignorance. As a developer myself ive faced a similar situation several times before, the steam community can be brutal at times

Also they use a lot of buzzwords thats they dont understand, viral marketing?

FWIW Assetto Corsa is the best feeling sim I've driven. Granted I haven't tried iRacing in about 4 years, but especially since the 1.5 update the handling model is significantly more realistic IMO.

I've been looking for some guys to turn laps with on AC if anyone is interested. I haven't been back on GTP forever, idk who's still around so feel free to add me on Steam.

Giving the link to that site is not a good idea, all they are after is traffic, if we would all just ignore it, it would go away.
There was a point when it could be seen as entertaining, now we are past that, it is just sad.

Yeah good idea. I edited my original post because they don't deserve any more exposure than they already do.

In the early days I actually had some respect for them for calling out PCARS and SMS for releasing a broken game (and rightly so). But lately it's just been getting worse and worse. Obviously they can't keep reporting the same things so they just start finding problems in other games. Even things that aren't a problem they will spin the words and make it seem like a big deal. Such a hypocrite for calling SMS liars when they themselves are...

The sad thing is their actions are probably damaging the already small and niche sim racing community. When Reiza's Automobilista was taken down for mimicking F1 liveries the developers announcement makes it seem that someone (not FOM) are reporting them just for lulz. Evidence is 2 weeks later there had been no formal legal complaint lodged and AMS was able to be reinstated on Steam. I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the PRC staff doing it just so they have "sensational" news to report

Anyway, enough with the negativity. Back to AC mods discussion :)

I first drove Algarve in Grid Autosport and instantly fell in love with what is a very technical and challenging course. Absolutely brilliant for a modern design IMO. Really hoping AC laser scans it at some point.

Algarve is absolutely brilliant. The height changes, the blind braking points and turns. Very challenging and actually pretty good for a modern desing. I hope to drive some laps in real life there someday since it's relatively close to me (Estoril is closer though)

I can't seem to get the LUT Generator to work properly for my wheel (T500), or I'm just not liking what I'm feeling. Sure enough, it gives me a lot more feedback at center, but it feels like that's at least partly due to the centering forces; the wheel oscillates a lot. When I turn it though, it feels rather dead. I can't tell what's happening with the tyres anymore. Not feeling tyre load or grip loss.

I went back to the default LUT + ini and now the wheel seems deader than before at center. Side effect, clearly. But at least I can clearly tell what's happening with the tyres when cornering, and that's far more satisfying than having bumpy feelings on straights.

I could probably adjust my csv values a bit, but I was just going to test it so I followed the instructions and used the values that were churned out.

Did you remember to set Minimum Force to 0% under controller options in game? If you use the LUT curve you don't need this extra center force anymore, so maybe that's causing your oscillation.

From my experience even if you set it up properly LUT feel great on center but feels "less detailed" off center than default FFB. With Kunos original cars it's not so bad but with some mods it totally breaks the FFB. I just stick with default FFB for now until most mods are updated to take advantage of this.

Yep.
Maybe "dead" was a bit exaggerated, but certainly much less detailed. If it can't be adjusted to get more detail off center, then I think I'm just going to stick with default.

Have you tried the Gamma FFPP? I find it tends to amp all the details up a bit, I prefer it to the LUT (which also felt a bit less detailed to me).
