Hello everybody,
Happy new year !!!

I'm looking for Australian and New Zealand tracks with more pits for the V8 Supercars
because the AI is limited to 16 opponents for the 2019-2020 championships it's a shame :
- Symmons Plains Raceway (just 17 pits)
- Pukekoke 2013 (just 21 pits)
- Hidden Valley Raceway (just 22 pits)

You can use the pit boxes extensions by @Foxeway

Thanks... I've been using the monaco_1966_v1.2 version and have not had a skin update for it that might fix this. After you've had a look at your version to see that you see it, can you please direct me towards downloading a skin update? Or...perhaps my v 1.2 is old and there might be a newer one (?).
Hey...thanks very much !

Hi all!

Can someone please make a renamed edit for one of the 2 MPP tesla model 3-s on assettoland?
I tried it but I never got it to work.

Thanks in advance

p.s: Happy New Year to all!

I'm trying to further categorize my cars.
Anyone got a website in mind that explains the different racing car classes (group A, B, C, 2, etc.) through the years?

MATE! THANKS *_* ... such a great mod :) will you update it ? :P as example the wipers dont wipe the water ... this mod is definitely one of my favorites

Open up the ext_config.ini in each folder of each car variant (sprint / endurance) and add these lines:

[WIPERS_TRACE_...]
SURFACE = ?INT?_?Windshield?
WIPERS = ?Wiper?

A quick and dirty fix but it does the job.

You could try WIKI here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Racing_car_classes

or this site https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/motorsports-complete-guide/

But tbh there's so much info out there you're gonna have to do some reading lol

If you want to know about WEC then this is a must visit https://cirebox.com/wecartoons-foe-fia-wec

Do you mind explaining how did you find out the textures to be assigned as "SURFACE" and "WIPERS" ? TIA.

@everyone Hi, happy new year everyone! Just so you all know as it's been said a few times already. No one is currently in the office at SimBin until January 4th :) we'll be doing the news bundle in January so don't worry it's not far away! :D sorry about the confusion The next time I use the everyone tag will be for the news release!"

Is it April 1st already?

Issue you have here is that these classes change LOT

But sounds like you're into the good sort of motorsports, so here are some really basic rules...

Mid 60s to early 70s:
Group 2 - touring cars (Minis, MkII Jags)
Group 3 - GT cars (Cobras, 250GTOs)
Group 4 & 5 - Low volume sportscars (
Ford GT40, homologation specials like Porsche 917s)
Group 6 - dedicated prototypes (Porsche 908)

70s, these classes are similar, but basically
Group 2 - volume TCs (BMW 2002, Ford Escort, Alfa GTA but consider this include Chevy Camaros and BMW CSLs) - basically this became Group 1 in the late 70s
Group 4 - GT cars (Porsche 930, but in rallying you'll find Escorts and Abarths and all sorts here)
Group 5 - Silhouette GT cars, some crazy rules where they had to use some parts of the production car they were based on but it could be bits like light covers... think GT300 rules in SGT (Zakspeed Capri, Porsche 935, Lancia Beta)
Group 6 - dedicated prototypes still (Porsche 936, Ferrari 312PB etc)

80s (I'm generalising somewhat with my years)
Basically as above, but:
- Group A (same as Groups 1-3 - Volvo 240s, BMW M3s, Nissan Skylines, Jag XJRs)
- Group B (combination of Group 4 and 5 - this category effectively died out in circuit racing but prospered in rallying in the mid-80s
- Group C (same as Group 6)

Now, it's worth pointing out that those Groups were the basic rulesets, but there were a lot of classes within groups, typically based on engine size (eg <1000cc, 1001-1250cc, 1251-1500cc and so on). So that's why a Chevy Camaro and a Ford Escort are both Group 2. Now there were so many classes that only a single car classified in each, so most championships ran 'Divisions', which would be they way they grouped several classes so there were actually competitive championships between cars.

So the 60s GT championships would have Cobras in the 3000cc+ class vs 250GTOs in the 2500-3000cc class, competing for the same trophy.

Right, my kid's fallen asleep now, so there's some reading for starters (and for others to correct!). Good luck.

Wooah, thanks man!
I'm really trying to solve the nomenclature/categorization challenge that so many cars pose.
Your post made me realize that dividing cars into so many groups and classes could, ironically, only create a bigger mess.
However, the website you provided is extremely clear.
Oh, the dilemma...

Happy New Year everyone! May 2021 bring you good health and prosperity!

Today turned out to be just a lazy day so I decided to teach myself the rainFX portion of track configs.
For no other reason but chance, I worked on Legion's Surfer Paradise Raceway and thought it worthy of sharing.

Please let me know if you see anything wrong or needing improvement.
Thank you!

Drop me a DM with an example list of cars, I'll happily share how I divide them up on my end (admittedly my current install only really has 60s and 70s content in it)
