Outstanding work dazzy, i think it looks better than the AMS version which is official content. You guys spend 2 years on this little masterpiece no?
Sorry for the late reply. It's been a hectic few days :P

From concept to completion it was about 23 months in total. Some weeks we worked on it full time, some just in our spare time and there were periods when we didn't touch it at all for a while. Just a case of doing what we could and when. Fitting these things in with everyday life is quite a challenge - and a massive commitment to see it through to completion. I tend to work fairly organically which isn't the most productive way, but often leads to some interesting ideas along the way. We just kinda kept adding stuff until we couldn't think of anything else to do.

I still have a couple of extra ideas such as creating a autumn version of the vegetation but to do it properly (not just a color shift) will requite a ton of re-modelling/rendering of the tree textures. I need a break first :P

Well the result is absolutely marvelous, probably the best mod track I've experienced on AC. Top marks to you and your team and many thanks for your hard work! I've just donated some virtual beers your guys' way, enjoy!

Yeah expect some virtual beers from my side too 👍
I hope the liquor cabinet is already nicely filled over there @dazzyb2k3 , you guys deserve some refreshment for bringing us this wonderful mod.

I finally found time to try some of the top recent tracks, like Tor Poznan and VIR. Both of them are superb additions to the track roster.

The environment around the track in VIR looks a little "empty" at first sight, and coming from only having driven it on the iRacing laser scan before a few things seemed slightly different, but once you get stuck in to lapping it's superb.

Tor Poznan is laser scanned and it shows: The cambers all just feel so logical and the surface imperfections on some corners make life interesting. I raced the MX-5 cup cars around it and loved every minute.
Tor Poznan doesn't get a lot of mentions, but it really is a fantastic track. The author put in an amazing amount of work. It's a very fun track to race on, in my opinion.

There are so many great tracks created by members of the AC Community, but VIR is just on another level. There is just so much intricate detail put into it. All the access roads, condominiums and stuff like that...it blew me away the first session I had with it. There are some layouts I haven't even tried yet - this circuit alone could keep me entertained for months. I can't even imagine how complicated this project was.

In my experience, most mods you find on Facebook are ripped.

I think the same, but this car had a thread in the official forums until they closed them, so I dont know.

Kunos announced this car would come next year but I am an impatient guy :P

The M6 GT3 is legit even if it is the GTLM car and the physics are 100% for a GTLM spec car I still dont like it but i have a major bias againest that M6 as i just hate everything about it.

Edit: Its not legit, after comparing wireframes its just an edited real racing 3 model.

Well, I tried it, and the cockpit interior is unifinished, the textures have no ambient oclusion whatsoever, some parts have no material shaders, and in VR it feels weird.

This made me suspect, and then I found out this comment in their FB page:

"AGU-Modding We never said that this is scratch made. We got the model by an anonymous person. We made some tweaking like the gills, the physics, animations, shader tweaking and so on."

So... I guess I will wait for the official one from Kunos.

I have a handful of ripped/illegitimate mods installed. The Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 and a 911 Turbo are two that come to mind. They're very fun to drive, but I know what they are. Of course I would rather a legit, scratch made mod, but I'm going to have to wait for my Porsche Packs. Hopefully there will be at least one of the ripped Porsche's represented in the official packs so I can compare the physics and see how accurate the ripped car was.

If I ever heard someone mention that their 3d Model was used without permission, or a track ripped from another sim without authorization, I wouldn't use those mods out of respect for the true authors. For the most part, these ripped mods are on the poor quality side, in my opinion. Some have nice 3d models because they're ripped from a decent source, but the physics suck or the track surface sucks, etc.

I love my EGT Darche! :D Occasionally I do a one-make race with it and pretend I'm in some sort of Porsche Darche Cup race. :sly:
Good point. I apologize for forgetting about the EGT Darche. I've made this same mistake quite a few times. Those cars from EGT are definitely quality mods. 👍

I love the EGT cars, but unfortunately they are not popular online.

Yeah, that's the one downside of them. I don't think any of my racing buddy's have them, which is a shame because they're cheap and some of my favorite cars (especially now that they're on the new tires).

Am I losing my mind? Is there already a top notch McLaren MP4/4 mod released on the official forums? I very rarely drive open-wheel, so perhaps I'm thinking of another McLaren. I'm not saying modders can't release cars that have already been done - just curious.

EDIT: Wow.. This thing comes with 4 different chassis...

The other version was a nice model but the physics were a joke, this on the other hand is outstanding.

Okay. Thank you. I can't even remember if I ever drove the older McLaren mod. Usually, if I download a mod I try it out right away, but for open-wheel cars I can't be certain. I'll have to give this new one a try.

I cant really stand open wheelers anymore, its such a minefield, the main user base are the most criticial which makes sense but there is simply next to no information on the cars so how on earth do they act like they know everything about open wheelers. Outside of blatant things its hard to tell. Modding f1 cars has annoyed me so much that i just dont want to ever deal with them again, such a hassle dealing with all that toxicity. Sorry for throwing that all on you randomly.

No, no...I'm glad you did. I never really thought about the lack of true information available on a lot of those vehicles. I don't blame you for your frustrations.

This morning I had some free time and I'm borrowing my friend's wheel again, so I took out that new McLaren 4/4 mod for a few laps around Spa-Francorchamps. My God. That thing is powerful. I don't think I would even go full throttle until 3rd gear, sometimes 4th. That probably had a lot to do with my tires not being warmed tho. I never use tire blankets, for some strange reason.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who are going to give me the "Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?" look for saying this, but one thing I don't really care for about driving open wheel is, to me, the only real difference I feel is power. They all handle amazingly. They all brake superbly. Different gear ratios with different power/torque values. That's it for me. Granted, I suck behind the wheel of them, so I'm not pushing them the way most of open-wheel fans can and maybe that is when you start noticing vast differences. :boggled:

Actually, I shouldn't be saying "open wheel". Its more the 1980-present Formula/Indy style I was talking about. There are some 1970s open wheel cars that I think are fun to drive occasionally with their tiny front tires and huge back tires. Like this McLaren M23:

And of course, I think the old Classic Lotus's & Maserati 250's are a blast to drive. The drivers back then should have all been locked up in mental institutions.

Wow, that thing's pretty good. Much better than the other version I had tried.

Guy's I install a few additional tracks over the weekend. VIR, Thruxton and Mo Sport among them.
And Riverside which I love the long layout. When I installed Fuji, it did not show up in the track list in game.

Is there a limit to how many tracks you can load? I was able to unzip/RAR the tracks I wanted. They seemed to install fine
But they did not have data, AI or UI sub directories. I cant see anything I did wrong.
So I must be doing something wrong :dunce: Has anyone seen this problem before?

I don't know if it might help, but check for a folder called "Content" or even "assettocorsa" in your tracks folder.

It seems most people create a zip file so that it just works when you unzip it in your tracks folder. Occasionally there's a mod set up to be unzipped in the primary Assetto Corsa game folder. Therefore instead of having this;

assettocorsa > content > tracks > (new mod track), you end up with;

assettocorsa > content > tracks > content > tracks > (new mod track).

You just need to cut and paste the files to the right folder if this has happened. Also I've seen some mods with two folders before you get to the actual data, preventing it from showing up in game. For example it would look like this; Fuji > Fuji > (track files and folders.)

Imo best thing to do when installing mods for any game is to unzip it to a temporary folder then copy the mod to the correct folder.

Lewis, FS7

Thank you both very much. I will give your suggestions a try.

That was the problem. You are both correct. I had to extract each directory and file under temp.
Then copy that data to the proper track folder under Assetto Corsa.

I understand now. Thank you again.

My system (on Johnny's advice back in the day i think), is to unzip every mod in a seperate folder i make like AC cars, AC tracks, AC apps, AC sounds...

The folder structure is always in the hands of the modder, and sometimes the folder you need to copy is embedded in others, so better to check it out first in a 'quarantined' zone before your root folder of AC becomes a trashcan :P

I do the same, and I always click through the folder until I can see the guts of the mod because sometimes it's a couple folders deep.

I'm so anal retentive... Assetto Corsa is installed on my SSD C:\ in the default location. I download all my downloadable AC content to my SSD D:\ drive. I have a folder "Assetto Corsa Downloads" and within that folder, I have the applicable sub-folders "Cars", "Tracks", "Apps", "Skins"...etc. Then, when I download stuff and they go into those folders, after I unpack and install the mod I move the original compressed downloaded file into a sub-folder called "Installed". So, it will look like D:\Assetto Corsa Downloads\Tracks\Installed or D:\Assetto Corsa Downloads\Cars\Installed -- that way, if I download a few mods but don't feel like unpacking and installing at the moment I can easily remember which mods are installed and which have yet to be installed.

Yes, I'm THAT fun at parties. :dunce:

It's not that difficult to install mods. I just open the zip file using 7zip and then selecting the car folder, copy that to the content/car folder and you're done.

Right. All we're saying is that sometimes the folder you need is actually buried within another folder and if you just drop the unzipped folder in your content folder it won't always work. I had one the other day that I unzipped and dropped in but it wasn't showing up in the game. Went back and checked and when I opened the folder there were two folders in there, one for Content and one for Fonts (or something). I had to go into the Content folder and that's where the folder I needed for the car was.

All ALB123 and Señor Dog were saying (and I do the same) is that we have a folder we keep all of our mods in to keep track of them and don't just unzip them directly into the AC/Content folders. I have a folder on my external drive called Mods, in it is a folder for AC and in that folder are folders for Cars, Tracks, Apps, Weather, Originals, etc. and when I download a mod I save it there first and then copy the necessary folder into AC. This has come in handy many times and since I keep it on my external drive everything is safe if my PC crashes or I have to reload Windows (which I did recently and didn't have to re-download all my mods). I also have copies of all the necessary original AC folders so I can quickly revert back if needed.
