Are you 100% certain that the data.acd contains an electronics.ini file, and that the ABS is marked as present=1 and active=0 ?
This no-brakes clue has pointed to that many times, in my experience. (h/t to @GzeroD)
did you repack ./data to data.acd ?
That's why it must be working also with the abs on. Because in my case, the problem was that when the abs was considered "on" (whatever the reason, wanted or not), some cars don't have any info on abs other than just "off" and simply don't brake at all. If, for any various reasons out of my knowledge, there is a data conflict between it being activate or not (for exemple, activated by default then forcefully de-activated by the setup), it will still needs to read data's on abs.

Maybe that could be a hint.
I changed the ABS to present but not active (previously it was not present and not active) but the problem persists. With only the data.acd file the car no longer brakes. Each data.acd file is always created starting from all the changes that I have included in the data folder... I really don't understand where I'm going.

Check for a typo in the name of the luts for temperature/mu used by the advanced brakes, pretty sure I had a similar issue where unpacked data was working but packed was not…

AND THE GTPLANET AWARD FOR IDIOT OF THE YEAR GOES TO --> ME!

I saved the lut tables for the brakes as INIs and not as luts. You are allowed to insult me 😂

Thanks everyone for the help anyway, I'll upload the updated version :D

I know what immediately comes to mind for me: the Howmet TX and the Rover BRM. Gas turbine engines were all the rage in the mid-to-late 60s, and these are two more famous examples of the wild experimentation this era of racing was known for. Also, gas turbine engine go whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

The Howmet TX: A Brief History Of The Sportscar Turbine Age - The Back Roads
Rover BRM - The AZ of Racing Cars
Rover-BRM: Gas Turbine monster - Motorsport Retro
ive been working on these two slowly for quite some time. just some low poly updates but they should turn out ok. the howmett now has a cockpit albeit an early version. im pretty sure I released a beta for it already.

the brm has been sitting for ages. i will finish this one though.

one issue im having is finding a suitable sound. i have a jet engine sound but its a bit overbearing. also looking for a radial engine sound for another project i havent shown yet.
Doesn't work lol
my version zipped up. this one works on my end.

you have that in assetto? if you do can you send it my way please
another unreleased WIP. I'm slow but I do get round to it eventually.

i remember that some day ago someone posted a good compressing tool here which can compress the ac even more after the cm compressing but i forgot the name, can someone tell me it again?
It's called Compactor ... (details)
Although with the new CM having had changes done to the compression part, maybe the compression done via CM (using Windows 10 compression methods) is now as good , I dunno.
If someone can compress their content folder using new version of CM and then compress with Compactor, to see if it still makes a difference, and report back here, that would be awesome.

The newly improved compress via CM may save time not having to analyze complete content folder each time (when very large it takes quite some time).
Also Compactor can compact each car mod folder one at a time but cumbersome to select each folder, press analyze , then press compress...
The CM compress is said to prioritize newly added content, so it may be faster now. (and hopefully also compression wise it's on par w Compactor or close.)

IT'S RELEASE TIME !!

PIPER GTR
1.jpg

After a few months of hard work, head scratching and life questioning, here it is : the Piper GTR.
It's my second fully scratch-made car, and the first one done without any plan, blueprint or even dimension references, considering how few information there is of this car. Only pictures, basically. So don't be too harsh with the result ^^

Features :
  • A 1.3 liters Straight 4 twin cam Ford-Lotus based engine, mostly reproduced at the back of the car.
  • 155 bhp for 602 kg. Not powerful, but so streamlined it's keeping up quite well in the WSC pack.
  • openable flappy doors, useless but cool.
  • 10 beautiful historical and semi-fictional liveries by Pasta2000, an even better skinmaker than me. If you don't believe me, See for yourself
  • Headlight for the night, wipers for the rain, mirrors for the rear and the height of a table.
  • Lovely and raw sound by SCIBSOUND, Come and say thanks to the man!
  • Less than 300K polys, 4 LODs, AO inside and outside, all the goodies for good racing!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Cheers!

Maybe a dumb question but I haven't been able to find anything about this myself; I have my game and content folder on an external ssd, and the compression tool in CM gives me this error (see image), and the CompactGUI tool shared here gives the same sort of error. Is there another way to compress my files with this exFAT file system? Thank you to anyone who can help me!

Compress only works on NTFS file systems, your drive is exFAT

short answer is no, you cannot dynamically compress exFAT file systems

Hi guys.
Last couple of weeks i'm facing a new problem.
In every session (let's say hotlap), i have two (always two no more, not less) MAJOR stutters per lap, in exactly the same spot of the lap!
This happens in every track, modded or original and with any car, mod or original!
It's very frustrating cause it may happen in the middle of the corner, resulting in loss of control.

I know it's a long shot but maybe some of you experience the same thing and you were able to solve it.

(Using latest CSP)
Thanks!

Not a bug for the 386482746282636381736382737382736482937463927364827463 time.

Do not install the mod through content manager, but manually, so that the zip that contains the tyre textures actually goes to assettocorsa/extension/textures/cars
but why not simply include them in the car folder in ./texture or ./skins?

No real reason to spread mod files all over the game folder.

No real reason to spread mod files all over the game folder.
If I do that, put tyres skin on all those 12 cars, twelve time the same texture, it's an extra gigabit of space used for nothing. Instead packing all of them on a single zip and making all the config use the zip saves a lot of space.

And that's actually how people who release a pack do.

well, you could do it in ext_config pointing to a folder with the files, or zip

trust me, i do this with cars and tracks as well that insist that ext_config.ini goes to assettocorsa\extension\config\tracks\loaded
which absolutely is not needed.

anyway...

That's what I do, except I follow CSP guidelines that says it's better to put them where they store shared textures

That's nice. I've been making Durex-liveries for my friends for years, as a joke. This is great stuff! :)

From what I've seen the new CM only compresses files dragged and dropped into CM. Manually added files do not. So, it is still worth doing a manual compression of the files from time to time.

Maybe a faulty app you run is causing this. Disable every third-party app and try again.

I love that you made this, thank you!

The only thing I'd change are those side windows, when compared to the photos of the real car they just don't look right. It's still an excellent mod, though - so close to being almost perfect.
