How did you managed to turn on the lights on the roof? I am not able to do that. Also the siren app doesnt work with this police car. Strange.
............
I have no siren though...

The "Siren App" can be downloaded and installed (here: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/siren-sound-app.23750/).
It is supposed to recognise all police car mods and then activates automaticaly. It works fine with all other police cars for me but not with the Crown Vic. No idea why.

I was not pleased with the original japanese police siren so I replaced it with an US-style WAV-file. Very easy to do.

it works with cars that have 'police' in their name.
what's that car name?

I now have a assetto corsa logo grey watermark on the left of my screen when driving, no idea how it got there, any suggestion on how to remove it?

The file name is: bk_ford_crown_vic_10_stock - so no police there
The CM name is: Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor 2010 - but that doesnt seem to matter

Renaming the file name produces some errors for me. Bad luck and no siren sound. But I can live with that.

Hi Gentlemen !

I'm really astonished than nobody's here had given the information about this Auto-Union Type C (currently in WIP v 0.5) which is available on RD since last tuesday.
Link on RD: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/1937-auto-union-type-c.30182/
It is one of the most iconic and legendary car in the racing history..! ;)

Note of Gary J. Paterson (Author)

Please note with is really quite WIP - and the version number reflects that.

I wanted to release this for Christmas,, though by the time I had decided that it'd have been unfair of me to try and ask anyone to help at such short notice (so Aphidgod for physics, and a few others for SFX).
So instead, I've uploaded what I have, and if something is wrong or bad etc. its down to me. Later on we can work together to improve it

I'll try and update this page with more info, pics, what I think still needs work and what is more complete etc, but I'm in a bit of a rush right now and just want it available ASAP.

I'll put up skin templates in the coming days when I get round to it.

Despite not being 100% final I think its a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it too.

Sweet. Would love to try the Focus if you get the physics right. BTW the focus RS looks awesome in white if you want to add another skin to the collection;)

It's beautiful and especially compared to the other Type C that's available.

I wish it was a little bit easier to drive (no assists) as I don't think I have the skills to fully enjoy it. If the physics were a little closer to the Maserati 250F 6 cylinder then it would be perfect for me.

Old Type C :yuck:

Actually the old one doesn't look that bad...I just noticed the wheels and tires are about the same quality as Kunos. Just show's how good Gary's modeling and shading is.

,
The mod is graphically amazing. Also those car were not easy to drive, over 550hp on those tires, suspensions and with those brakes! Respect!
That said, fun? in an RF2 kind of way, maybe, as in you fill you have achieved something if you ever finish a lap without crashing and they are overly over steering enthusiast.
But fun as you feel you are driving a real car, you are immerse and have fun actually driving, not so much.
But challenging just to keep on the track, if you are into that kind of exorcise, yes they are.
Realistic, I do not know, the calculation are probably correct, like in RF2, but to enjoy finding the limits at the edge of the car performance, not really. If hard is realistic, this must be the best sim car ever!
Driving those is more like trying to walk on eggs than trying to have a friendly jogging with friends on Sunday morning. I guess I am not the walking on eggs enthusiast.

@Cote Dazur @Electroforce I think you both summed this up perfectly. Amazing looking mod but an absolute pig to be able to drive even 100 yards without either spinning the rear wheels into oblivion or ending up in whatever bit of track scenery it fancies throwing you into. Yes I'm quite sure it's realistic but I don't think I'd describe it as fun either. Having watched some videos of this beast it does look like a real handful, and I don't think any of those videos show it being driven anywhere close to the limit. If I could time travel I'd love to go back and see a field of these being wrestled at top speed round Donington. Now that would be entertainment!!
Also does anyone know why in a lot of the videos I've watched they have 2 rear tyres per side? Is that because of the extra weight of the drivers massive balls ;)

I think this is spot on (found on the Net):

"""""The Auto Union Grand Prix racing cars types A to D were developed and built by a specialist racing department of Auto Union's Horch works in Zwickau, Germany, between 1933 and 1939.

Of the 4 Auto Union racing cars, the Types A, B and C, used from 1934 to 1937 had supercharged V16 engines, and the final car, the Type D used in 1938 and 1939 (built to new 1938 regulations) had a supercharged 3L V12 that developed almost 550 horsepower.
Wheelspin could be induced at over 100 mph (160 km/h), and the marked oversteer that persisted throughout the cars' development thanks to the uneven weight distribution and the large amount of weight in the rear of the car made all the Auto Unions difficult to handle, although the smaller engined Type D was a bit easier to drive because of the smaller engine and the half as much space it took up in comparison to the 6L V16 in the previous Type C.

Between 1935 and 1937 Auto Unions won 25 races, driven by Ernst von Delius, Tazio Nuvolari, Bernd Rosemeyer, Hans Stuck and Achille Varzi. Their main competition came from the Mercedes Benz team, with Auto Union proving particularly successful in the 1936 and 1937 seasons. Known as the Silver Arrows, the cars of the two German teams dominated Grand Prix racing until the outbreak of World War II in 1939."""""

I did some laps on Legion's Spa 1938 and I must say I don't really envy the guys who got to drive these during this era... In a sim...OK, in real life
Best way is to be really smooth and after a long straight start braking at about 1km before the turn...and hope you slow down enough...

uneven weight distribution down to the driver's massive balls :D :D

That's if you can launch the car down that straight in the first place!!

@Cote Dazur
The words were not mine, they were from the author of the mod... but I don't disagree with him.

I confess... I love these kind of cars in many ways but the first way is about the global engineering.
Tremendous torque, 16 cylinders, mechanical turbo, rear engine, a unique and advanced design for his time... and also my total respect for the racing drivers.

@MrB00
For sure, a wheel is absolutely necessary to enjoy at his best these absolute beast and I like the driving challenge.
It's exactly which I expected and It's an absolute pleasure to drive virtually these iconic race car, that's the way I like, I'm not really involved in touring cars... except for some other iconics like "Facel Vega" for example or If It exists one day, a "Tucker" for another example. ;)

@Fanapryde
True !

I was a child when I first saw these "Auto Union" in a racing car documentary and I was really impressed by this beast.

Of course, and I respect that you enjoy driving this vehicle. Honestly, it is not a mod for a controller that's for sure, but even with a wheel I can't imagine it being easy to drive. It's certainly not one I can get on with but that's the amazing thing about AC - there is quite literally something for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I am always astounded when I read stories or see videos of the drivers battling with these beasts and each other at speed, hence my comment about having massive balls.

OK so this car is obviously few steps behind being finished, but for me having done a few laps on silverstone it is one of my favourites.
'Drifting' wasn't always a "yo dude!!" thing, it was how a race car got around a corner.
Start off as if you are Martin Brundle let lose in the car on a clear silverstone track.....You would in real life take a few laps to acclimatise and to let the race car warm up and just ease into it, you are not going for pole and you never drive it like a modern race car....

Take your time and just enjoy it..... you have to work the wheel, most of the new race cars pretty much drive themselves.

Me...i love this thing...

ill link it, but i think youll be disappointed, i redid the physics to be more extreme. and thats not the issue (altho it forsure is faster than the real evo) it has 10 more torque from ERS but more importantly it has more downforce. like 300kg more and new ers maps and stuff. BUT! the damn gauges dont work. at first the display was all black. so i checked out custom showroom and all the shaders settings were at 0, so i set emissive to 2.6 like stock ffx and i got the gauge outlines back, and the RPM bar works, but the numbers for rpm/speed do not show up. so i need help :/ 3dsimmed always removes my digital gauges. anyway. link incomming

Edit: and it doesnt have LODS! i should have deleted the interor then saved those as the lod. but i didnt. so prolly wont be good in big grid races
