Older than the team I am looking for, and not in the premier league.
They are the closest chronologically to the right answer so far.

Really? Weren't they founded in the 1990s?
Wiki tells me that Fleetwood FC was founded in 1908 and folded in 1976. Fleetwood Town FC started in 1977 and folded in 1996. The current version started as Fleetwood Wanderers in 1997, then changed names to Fleetwood Freeport and finally back to Fleetwood Town in 2002.

I guess you would get different opinions on the origin of the team. The club website claims the history of the club back to 1908 though.

USA, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.
According to FIFA.com, Canada joined in 1913 as the 4th non-European, while the USA were affiliated a year later. NZ joined in 1948, while Australia didn't formally join until 1964.

Still 3 out there

Nope. Just to clarify, the last two are different confederations to each other, but not necessarily different to the correct answers so far.

South Africa were the first non-European country to join, in 1909, while Chile signed up at the same time as Argentina.

I would never have guessed those countries without stumbling across it on a choose your own adventure trip on wiki.

Two guesses based on my limited knowledge of how and where football spread around the world. Still astonished that that was correct.

Actually, I do have one.

We all know what it is but who coined the term "Route One" football?

Jimmy Hill?

I was wondering about this again yesterday. I wouldn't even know what era to guess at.
One last ditch effort for me.

Graham Taylor?

No but the 1980s is the correct decade. Graham Taylor had "long ball" football and this chap had "route one" football.
