Attack in Berlin

Apparently they've found a ID belonging to a 21 year old Tunisian in the truck and now he is the prime suspect.

Whats up with the ID's of the terrorist, I already found this very suspect back in the terror attacks in France.
I find it hard to believe they take their ID's with them when they plan to murder a dozen people and always manage to lose them at the site of the attack. Such a weird recurring coincidence.
Or is it just me? :odd:

Such a weird recurring coincidence.
I think they do it to hinder the search. It's an old trick of stealing/making an ID, committing a crime and "dropping" it at the scene.

I'm curious what your long term vision of the world is, because all I can gather is an "us and them" mentality that isn't really compatible with the direction the world is moving.

and which direction it is?

btw. "us and them" mentality is evolutionary thing and ignoring human nature when shaping a society is bad idea. Fail of communism should be an example.

Another possibility could be if a person is expecting to be killed and wants other people to know who committed the act.

Yeh, it struck me as weird as well...

Assuming the ID actually belongs to the perp, there's a few possibilities as to why they are they - misdirection*, accident**, or (as @S_Bridge) suggests, to legitimize a claim of responsibility. In this case, it is looking like the latter - ISIS have already claimed responsibility, but they offered no proof and hence their claim was treated (rightly) with skepticism... but by leaving ID behind on purpose, the person responsible can quickly be linked to whatever group they might support or be connected to, even before any forensic evidence is analysed.

* misdirection seems unlikely given the goal(s) of terrorist groups like ISIS
** they'd have to be a special kind of dumbass to have done that, but that is maybe not that unlikely given that they clearly already score pretty high on the dumbass scale...

It wasn't too long ago that Western culture put women very clearly below men.

Bollocks. I'd like to see some sources that Western culture very clearly puts women below men.
Past tense / present tense.

I agree with @Azuremen. There's quite the temptation to get all high and mighty about our currently enlightened societies, but "we" were shockingly devoid of an adherence to basic human rights, in a disturbingly all too recent history.

It wasn't too long ago that Western culture put women very clearly below men. Of course, it still does...

@Johnnypenso
..... but that is besides the point.
Haha, let's quote the whole post, but in 17 separate snippets.

The point is your sense of cultural superiority is removed from the reality of relatively recent history and even the current situations in Western countries.
I read "It's not even perfect now, but not long ago there was an utterly despicable situation".

We're not yet working with anywhere near glowing statistics on the percentages of time with and without fair treatment of women. We are noobs. Personally, I don't want to be that self-righteous recently-ex-smoker that is suddenly disgusted by all smokers and smoking, looking down my nose at those "filthy swine".

So one of the reactions to the terror attack is increased police protection at all kinds of Christmas festivals to eliminate any attackers before they can act and kill people.

And then this scene rears its ugly head. Spot the errors.

The mask is slipping, I'm slowly getting the impression that Germany really desperately doesn't want to do any effective prevention against terror attacks. I refuse to believe a country which is renown for very high quality standards, professionalism in all things and with such economic power sucks so damn hard at all security matters.
If I was a tinfoil-hat guy I'd say they simply let it all happen - for whatever reason or goal. :dunce:

That's because country is run by bleedinghearts and not professionals

Look at fiasco with the atomic power plants https://www.ft.com/content/30b826f2-bba0-11e6-8b45-b8b81dd5d080 , https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...entitled-to-damages-for-germany-s-atomic-exit , everyone with technical education will tell you that atomic power plants are the greenest energy source as long as you build them in the area with low seismic activity and follow all technical and security standards.
Look like we (Czech Rep.) will have to build new blocks in Temelin and Dukovany to supply Germany when they shut down their atomic power plants, which will make some of your fellow countryman really delighted.

That or Germany will start to burn more coal which adds new dimension to the term "regressive left".

Another theory for all those dropped ID's is that they want to be known as a 'martyr' and become a folk hero with all the Jihadi sympathizers out there. It could also secure funding for their families from said sympathizers afterwards.

And today's media is doing their best to give those a..holes the platform they're looking for...

Berlin Attack Suspect Is Killed by Police Near Milan
(NY Times)

These guys sure like going out with a bang don't they? It's a shame they cause more damage in the process but at least dead men don't stand trial and drag out the tragedy for years so the victim's can be reminded.

Thoughtful of the guy to leave his ID. Wouldn't put it past him to be that daft that is actually fell out.

Open borders for the win.

There are strong indications that the perp travelled from Germany to Amsterdam, from there he got on a bus to Lyon, and from Lyon to Milan.

So, that's Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy.
