AU Playstation mag confirms Holden, Ford

The latest issue of the Official Playstation Magazine Australia headed over the Polyphony Digitals studios to check the place out and prod Mr. Yamauchi.

Onto Australian cars next. We've got a very strong car culture in Australia, and the Ford versus Holden contest is almost tribal, we say. Yamauchi nods after the word 'Holden'. It was great to see local Fords and Holdens in GT4, we continue - but can we expect to more in GT5? "Yes, you will see them," says Yamauchi. It's at this point we hand over some catalogues we bought along with us (HSV Clubsport and G-Series Falcon are pictured). Yamauchi smiles and immediately starts flipping through the HSV brochure.
:dopey:

As the article says, both were already in GT4 so this isn't really news.

Yeah but they are old models and quite small in numbers, the idea i that they are asking will they be updated, will Holden's tuning company HSV be added? etc, more could have been asked like will the 2010 season V8 Supercars be added? Also, comfirming Holden again is needed because Holden was missing from GTPSP.

Freakin sweat! I hope they include Bathurst...

Bathurst is completely underrated internationally, this track needs to be seen and experienced worldwide, its a terrific track that I've been on many times (used to live in Bathurst).

I was going to jump on Forza 3 because of the big 'V8 Supercars' product sticker on the front but it didn't have any Australian tracks which was a letdown. Also wtf turn 10 no stock Holdens or Fords? Fail

The Holdens may look the part but the question is... Will they sound the part? For these V8's Hoovers sounds should not be acceptable and wont do these cars much justice :nervous:

I'm pretty sure there was 1 or 2 holdens in forza wasn't there?

You need to put the code after the = between the tags.

And this is good news, while not a real surprise, good news indeed.
Was there anything else interesting in the interview?

I liked racing on Bathhurst in Toca Race Driver, that was sweet.As for Ford & Holden the more the merrier.

Yes, but especially Holden. Those raw power big displacement engines are super fun to drive in a track or even on a city course like Seattle with large elevation changes. I love catching air in a powerful car.

*It also says he pointed at a picture of a HSV Maloo ute when shown the brochure, also mentioning that he saw it on Top Gear.

*There will be Arcade and GT Modes

*When asked about livery editor he said "all is possible at this stage"

Thats about it

Thanks for highlighting the article, I was expecting something from Holden/HSV and Ford AU/FPV but it's nice to hear KY acknowledge it. :)

I still am really hoping for Bathurst. :D

My take on this...They will be the same Holdens and Fords that were in GT4 and they will still sound like vacuum -cleaners.
Sorry to be negative but I'm just being realistic.

Thats my greatest fear. Something tells me though the rebadged Pontiac GTO and VXR will be in it

Really? FPV is in right? Im pretty sure ive seen it in a video where some manufacturers where shown.
FPV is in, yes. I saw Holden in a video of GT PSP from GamesCon, but it was no where to be seen in the retail version.

Gran Turismo 3 is the first GT to feature ANY Australian car (the Tickford Ford Falcon XR8). Gran Turismo 4 is the first GT to feature Holden and FPV, but also the first GT to use an Australian car in a License Test. I must say this again... Gran Turismo NEEDS better Australian representation. Australia is one of the biggest sectors of racing in the world not represented in Gran Turismo (this and Canada and Latin America). Not to talk rivals or anything, but Forza Motorsport 3 will have eight Australian V8 Supercars. The V8 Supercars is the key thing I'll look out for. The best package would be V8 Supercars and Bathurst. If they wanted to delve further, PD may want to look into things like the old ATCC (Australian Touring Car Championship) before being succeeded by the V8 Supercar Series. Some utes need to be featured, maybe even a few Brute Ute machines. That's even if you have Holdens and Fords with Gran Turismo or Polyphony Digital livery. A nice bonus on the car front would be that Holden Efijy concept car.

As far as likelyhoods and speculation, I'd be interested in seeing HSV make its debut into the GT realm. The HSV Clubsport R8, LS3 Senator, GTS 40th Anniversary, Maloo, and W427 are some of my favorite vehicles from HSV (especially recent ones, because that's all I know). I'd even be interested in seeing a car I keep hearing and reading about- the Holden Torana GTR-XU1. Maybe even feature some Holdens raced by the late great Peter Brock. On the Ford [Australia] front, I'd simply include more of Ford's lovely Falcons and of course, their V8 supercars. Maybe I want to be my own Craig Lowndes in GT5. And according to ultimatecarpage.com, here are some other Australian makes:
* Bolwell
* Carbontech
* Elfin
* Goggomobile
* JOSS
* Maybach Special
* Roman AutoTek

All I can say about these is that Elfin would be nice to include as well. But simply put... will someone at PD PLEASE put Australia on the Gran Turismo map proper?

That's good news for me as I'm from New Zealand. Hopefully we can see Bathurst appear in GT5 and some V8 Supercars would be nice.:)

I want some V8Supercars with Phillp Island also! And a few other Aussie road courses!

P.S. PD please get the V8Supercar sounds right, like ToCA 3!!!!!

Please, please, please have the HSV W427 in GT5 Yamauchi-San. :D

More important than Holden and Ford Australia put together.

To be honest Ute racing in australia isn't very big at all, some aussie's like to call them sports utes but they really arn't they are just for cruising or the usual things you use a ute for.

Main cars i would like to see would be the V8 Supercars, but as sad as this sounds coming from an aussie. I really don't care if any of our car's make it in or not, I just don't want one.
