SAR - What happened Crazyhorse?
No idea, W. It was bizarre! Twice I matched late by mistake, between 10-20 secs late, but found a grid you guys just fine. For race 5, and the F40 do-over (see below for update on that) I was on the mark, but kept getting the 'no grid available' error! As I say, no idea, but I hope it was just an isolated incident (...particularly as I missed the chance to run my GT-R, and make up for my poor F430 showing)!

F40 -- Dodo was 'disconnected', and did not quit (see here at TORC). As that post says, the re-run race penalises Peekay and Dodo who had completed 9 of the 10 laps, so currently I am planning to use the result from the first running. Depending on Peter's reply, the finishing order will be either:-

vrrm, ed5ta, peekay, stone, dodo, joe90 (if disconnection occured AFTER Peter's turn 1, lap 10); or
vrrm, ed5ta, peekay, dodo, stone, joe90 (if disconnection occured AT Peter's turn 1, lap 10)

Hope that makes sense :)

Will be good to have you with us again, AUSnicko9 👍

Reading Sonic's post leads me to believe he has a rocket-of-a-tune for his 430 ;)

I will be in for MNR tonight again.:D Had a lot of fun last week. Now copying schedule and trying to find some setups....

Great to see so many drivers in MNR. I got a dc in all but one race. Curiously Blair suffered the same fate as me in most of the races. Strange night.

SAR - 1, 3, 1, 3, 2

MNR - dbl dc, 6, 3 (of 3), dbl dc, 1 (of 3)

I'll be away for the next SAR & MNR - going fishing Nth of Townsville in the warm.

Enjoyed the racing, my lack of knowledge of Fuji hurt a lot! oh well, always next week... :D

Race1 - 5th - Everyone who connected went GTR, i was an F430, and slow....nuff said. Faster lap 1:41.1xx

Race2 - Didn't Join

Race3 - 3rd - Horrible start left me last, after 3 laps I managed to work my way into 2nd and tried to chase down the leader who was out to 5.5 seconds on me. Chipped away but wasn't consistent enough, had the gap down to close to 4 seconds by lap 9, when Mad chased me down and passed me. Fastest lap 1:40.6xx

Race 4 - Didn't Join

Race 5 - 2nd - I was the GTR vs the F430, Mad knows how to drive the F430, and more importantly, get around Fuji quick. I did a low 1:40.1xx in the first few laps and kept within touch (about 2 seconds) until i was chased down by a Ferrari Cali by an outside driver, got into a tussle and I came off 2nd best (no foul play, i just cocked up :D ) raced to a lonely 2nd place while trying to work on my line.

I enjoyed myself, but Fuji just doesn't want to be my friend, something I hope to fix over the coming month.

No pictures tonight, completely forgot about it :ouch:

Seemed to be a lot of connection issues tonight, not sure whether this was to do with the new start times or increase in drivers.

Race 1: Almost missed it. I use the GTP chat clock as my guide when to enter races and for some silly reason it wasn't on time but instead a few minutes late. So when it read 8:00pm, all of the you started entering the race and I had no clue what was going on :P Nevertheless entered anyway & quickly realised that the GTP clock was wrong (opened a new window to fix it). Didn't matter though, as it said joining race then failed on me, tried again, got to the grid, then kicked out. Nobody else was chatting so I assumed you all got in & had to sit it out :grumpy:

Race 2: Chose to run the lotus here & had a good start but yet again another of the game's faults cost me a chance. Followed chris through 130R and he ran wide, then came back onto the track. Going into the chicane he was on the right of me and he just moved a tiny bit to the left and our cars touched. It was barely a tap yet the game gives me a ramming penalty. Wasn't happy and fell all the way to the back. The race was basically over there but pushed hard to catch vrrm, who had also fallen back from the pack a bit. Caught up and then had a great battle for the remaining 3-4 laps. Held the inside line from the chicane to stop a drafting move and managed to come home in 5th (I think).

Race 3: Another fail on the matching, the second time got in a race with vrrm & joe. Apologies for my poor driving in this one. Didn't adapt quickly to the F40, especially the braking, which meant there were a number of times I went flying into T1 & the hairpin wayyy too quickly. Had a good battle with vrrm until he seemed to overshoot T1, then held the lead and got the win.

Race 4: Ran the clio and was expecting to have the lotus's under control however the reverse happened. I had mad all over my rear bumper the entire race and I was doing my best to keep him behind. I knew that if he got past me somewhere in the first sector he would be gone & I would have no chance, so I tried especially hard not give up the lead there. He got past a few times but I was able to re-draft in the second half of the track. A lap or 2 from the end he dropped off slightly which then let ed have a go for 2nd & took some of the pressure off myself. Came home in 1st for a very satisfying win.

Race 5: Yet another fail on the matching, second time around got in a race with vrrm & onlineGT. At turn 1 there was a concertina effect & I ran into the back of GT. Vrrm was at the front already so this meant he was way off into the distance now. Then a lap later myself & onlineGT came together at T1  It was race over definitely then, so for the next however many laps I mucked around with onlineGT, doing some side by side driving, precision passing & drags down the front straight :P Finished 2nd

Finishes were:

Race 1: NA
Race 2: 5
Race 3: 1
Race 4: 1
Race 5: 2

Cheers

SAR: 3rd, 5th, 2nd, 1st, 1st

MNR: 4th, 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 3rd

Excellent night of racing, lucky to have the night off uni for this :D Had some great battles with TORC_stonemonkey and GTP_mad94d (and everyone else :)) in the races tonight.

Really enjoyed tonight as usual with MNR.:D

Race 1 - 1st

- I was in the GTR and I was having a good race with TORC_Stonemonkey and GTP_aussienicko until Stonemonkey got a penalty, two laps later Nick had the same fate. This left me a big lead and I cruised to an easy victory.

Race 2 - 1st

- I drove the Clio and had a really close battle with Nick, he was strong on the straights and me through the esses. So it made for an interesting duel, I ended up coming out on top.

Race 3 - 2nd

- The F40 is a car I don't drive much so this one was always going to be a toughy for me. I got down into turn 1 safely and battled amongst everyone. But as I was battling, Nick was disappearing down the road at the rate of seconds per lap! So once I finally got clear of battling I started to chse Lion-Face for 2nd. I caught him and passed him on Lap 9 I think. I set out after Nick but 5 seconds in two laps was never gonna happen.

Race 4 - 2nd

- I was in the 111R for the second race. I got off to an alright start and followed the clios into turn 1. For most of the race I was glued to Blair's(SS88) bumper and heavily applying the pressure. But he didn't make one mistake all race. I then found myself in trouble of losing a position to ED5TA_155 on the last lap. We had a really close last lap together with me rounding him up on the outside of the braking zone to Casio. Awesome race this one, one of my favourites for the night (other was Race 2 with Nick).

Race 5 - 1st

- Unfortunately by now most people had gone to bed leaving 5 of us left. Unfortunately vrrm and Blair didn't connect.:( This left Lion-Face, ED5TA_155 and myself to race. I led into turn 1 and that's where I stayed the entire race.:D I slowly pulled out a gap over Lion-Face then he got caught in a battle. From here on in I just cruised and was sure not to make any mistakes.;)

Awesome night for me, I connected to every race and every race I had was great.👍 Thanks guys and I'll see you next week(possibly before at an SCR meet or something.).👍

Well i said it would be epic - Epic fail for me!
Got disconnected/failed match in races 1,2&3.
Race 4-finally got in with the main bunch - lap 1 had a massive lag/pause out of T1 and then a disconnect!
I would have blamed my PS3 being faulty but Vrrm & SS88 seemed to be having the same problem.

Best turn out in along time and i missed the whole damn thing - gutted.
Maybe next time:(

A real bummer, I know, Wayne... a bit like my SAR... so I can imagine your frustration :ouch:

Mixed bag for me last night...
1 - crappy sc penalty in race 1
2 - great tussle with Ed in race 2 (should have co-operated and towed each other up to the front too, perhaps, but hard to do when our cars had v. different strengths)
3 - poor in the F40... all over the place, holding people up, and tagging Madison :guilty:
4 - felt quick in race 4, but got turned around by Madison at the hairpin - a lag touch, I'm sure, coz he didn't stop... and after my F40 run, I prolly had it coming
5 - finale of Supernatural :D

Need to do alot of work on both my Red cars... I'm currently stinking up the Fuji track... but I'll enjoy the challenge.

If anybody's gonna be ontrack this week race-testing, post here, and maybe we can pull each other along 👍

Awesome racing last night, I really enjoyed myself as always! :) I only managed to join the first three races and after that I start falling asleep at the wheel

Race 1 - 2nd

Had a really awesome battle with TORC_stonemonkey and GTP_mad94d, but unfortunately I put R3's on the GTR so I could not pass properly down the straights, which left me just trailing behind Mad and Stone. Around lap 7 I suffered a penalty and Mad took off so that was the end of that! Stonemonkey managed to catch me after that but could not catch me before the line. Really top race. 👍

Race 2 - 2nd

An even better race.... Mad and I took off at the start and had a fantastic battle to the end, with me faster down the straights and he through the esses. Eventually it came down to Casio on lap 5 and we were neck-and-neck heading through there, then I accidentally nudged Mad's bumper on the exit and he cruised over the line. Awesome race! :)

Race 3 - 1st

I managed to take off at the beginning of this one and gained a good lead, which I managed to increase to around 6 secs by the end of lap 2. After that, I was just hotlapping and noticed that 2nd was catching me rapidly on around lap 8. Managed to stay ahead but 2nd caught me and narrowed the gap to around 4 secs by the end of the race.

As always, great racing, and I eagerly look forward to next week!

You can thank me for some of that lead - Madison was much faster than me, but I wasn't gonna let him go by easy ;)

Also impressed by Lion-Face in the F40... nice pace, and looked tidy... caught me, blew by, "see ya"... 👍

All fuel for my F40 tuning fire :D

Will post provisional results table tonight...

3 - poor in the F40... all over the place, holding people up, and tagging Madison :guilty:

No worries and sorry for the lag touch, I was many metres behind so I thought it was a bit weird. Must've lagged a lot...:nervous: Sorry again.

That was me!:D:lol: I was catching at about 1 second per lap after I cleared stonemonkey. I set out after Lion-Face and when I got him at the end that's when you would've noticed the gap decreasing.;)

Yeah I wondered why I was being caught so fast and then I crossed the line and saw "GTP_mad94d" in second position, and immediately discovered why....

...sorry for the lag touch
No worries, Mad, I knew it was the lag 👍

Ok... here's this week's table

Pls check the numbers, and gimme a shout if you're being stiffed :)

Well I entered a couple SAR races this arvo. I went in to the F40 race with no practice and having not raced all weekend so I crashed lap 1. But came 2nd in the next 2 races (Clio and GTR races).:)

Started off SAR well but got slack towards the end (distracted watching Marcos Ambrose win at Watkins Glen for the second year in a row :))

My finishes for today (won't be able to make MNR tomorrow)
1. 3rd
2. 2nd
3. 5th
4. 5th
5. 5th

EDIT: Bye bye 2nd place in the championship - it was just about impossible to keep up with CrazyHorse today :D

Great fun today... we had plenty of SAR-only grids, and some quality racing as a result. Was extremely happy with the maturity in the driving... many, many times I was side by side through the turns with a number of racers, several times at the hairpin at Suz too. Well done to all concerned - that might have been the best SAR to date 👍

Something to ponder... and it's about Toivonen & Paulie saying that they didn't want to score any points! I'm going to use Joe90's F40 race as an example of why I'm NOT in favour of me inheriting 2nd place.

Wayne lead from start to finish... I could follow for a little while, but only while I kept his draft. With that draft, I was able to clear the rest of the field, but with some excellent driving, Wayne broke the elastic, and I was eventually caught and past by a fast-finishing Toivonen!

For my money, having worked hard to break the tow, and putting me back to the rest of the field where I was passed, from Wayne's perspective, it is inappropriate for me to pick up 20 pts, even though Toivonen isn't in contention for the series. I AM likely to contend the whole series, as is Wayne, and in the F40 today Wayne 'raced' me into 3rd spot, and should get his 10 point cushion over me.

Toivonen may not run the whole series, but today he raced as a SARer... same car, same rules, same ethos, same chatroom, i.e. the dude weren't no random! I raced Toivonen as a SARer and he beat me! If guys like Toiv & Paulie are dead-set against having their name in our table, fine, most definitely their call, but I am against racers, like me today, sliding up the finishing order to take their points. Personally, I'd like to see the names of everybody in our tables, but if surrogate-SARers wish to be excluded, I think their points should be excluded too, i.e. nobody scored 20 pts in the F40 race, and I got 15 pts.

Just my opinion... not set in stone... always happy for all your input :)

My finishes... (and thanks for the kind words) :D

1. 2nd (F430)
2. 1st (Elise)
3. 3rd
4. 1st (Clio)
5. 1st (GT-R)

Won't be there tomorrow night unfortunately.:( Going out to dinner.

Have fun guys!👍

I'm thinking that too. If they don't want to be part of the points comp, then by all means they don't have their points results counted or posted on the table. But they still retain their position for each race they run under the SAR/MNR rules. So, in the situation you presented, nobody would win 20points, Joeninety the 1st place prize, and you get your respective points of 3rd place.

This also means that IF those players change their mind later on down the track, those points can be reinstated on the table easy enough, provided their finishing positions were recorded.

It's a tricky subject.

The point being discussed I can understand because as you put it, in that race toivonen finished ahead and worked hard for that 2nd place. In essence, you might feel you're stealing his finish away.

However if any driver chooses they do not want points & to some extent don't want to take part, then there really isn't a problem. Toivonen finished second, he knows he finished second. He has chosen not to take part in the points so he forfeits that, his finish in the points. In motorsport if a driver said 'I don't want the points, no thanks' then the guy who finished third would recieve the 2nd place finish points and so on. The problem being discussed seems to be a moral one but you have to remember, these drivers have chosen that view. There's no need to feel guilty and those drivers still finished in those places, they're not bitter or at least as far as I know.

On your idea lion-face, I don't think its fair for drivers who say 'No I don't want to receive any points' to later down the track do a back flip, change their mind & get it all back. Especially if it drastically changes the table order. If a driver wishes to start receiving points that's fine and it starts from then but they shouldn't get points for prior races where they themselves chose to not get any.

Really the problem shouldn't be there. The answer is simple. Put everybody down for points. That way where people finish, they get the points for that spot. There's no, well this driver isn't accepting points so I now finish ahead of him or this driver isn't taking points but I don't get more because he beat me.

What is the issue with getting your points? If you can only make 50% of the races then so what, there's no problem with that. Is it because drivers think that as they can't race every single event that they don't deserve to be in the hunt for the championship? Of course they're allowed! Whether it's Toivonen, lion-face, paulie, whoever, if you guys are taking part, you should get your points :D

As you say, if a driver is 100% against having their name up on the board then so be it but in my mind, then that should be it, they forfeit their points and finishes.

Lastly, if this idea were to go ahead, would it come into effect now or at the end of the current championship? It would be best probably not to be changing rules mid way through, especially since then all the results from week 1/2 would need to be redone again.

Cheers :) 👍

OK, the view I had taken, and most likely Toivonen as well, is that we're just drop-ins on your championship. The fact that we each finished a total of 3 2nd places and 2 3rd places between us in just 3 races makes us feel like we're stealing points from drivers who are trying to win a championship unlike us, who are simply there for some good and close racing. But since you put it that way, it may feel like we're robbing those ahead of their earned points buffer. Just keep in mind, if we weren't there at all, you would have placed 2nd in that F40 race. I have no problem with being on the points table if that's what YOU consider fair (so long as it shows I only participated in a couple races to be down the ladder :embarrassed:), so it's up to you. Do what is right by your championship.:)

For record, my results:
R1- DNS
R2- DNS
R3- 5th?
R4- 2nd
R5- 2nd

The racing yesterday was great, I'd hope that Toivonen and I appearing yesterday helped make it one of the best SAR ever as you're all calling it.:) I'd like to come tonight too, except..........yeah Supernatural is finished but I watch Dexter as well, which has taken its place.

I can see your point Paulie - you probaby won't attend many of the SAR - MNR events(but your always welcome) and anyone looking at the points table would at first glance note that you have not done very well being at the bottom....but all ego's aside, this event was started(by Rypen & carried to greater heights by Crazyhorse)to entice the many AU/NZ players out there who lurk on the fringes of online racing and who's driving skills need assistance to reach the levels of one such as yourself - so if by seeing some top flyers within easy grasp on the points table is enough to get more players involved i would like to keep all who attend the events listed.
Hope my rant made sense.

That's not really the point, the point is we don't want to steal the regular racers' points with our drop-in performances. But if you see it as more fair, then by all means, put me in.

As always, I know I can always count on you blokes for some considered input. Often, going with a consensus-approach = pain, but I really feel that we've able to get a sense of 'shared-ownership' with this series, which is working very well for us, imho... so... thanks again, fellas 👍

That said, it's tough to see if we'd made a great deal of headway with this topic, but we are leaning towards a position, so here's what I'm proposing:

  • I'd like to keep Paulie, Toiv, LF, whomever, in our tables...
  • I'm going to add a column to the table that records average pts per race entered (total pts / total races run)...
  • This additional column will not effect the championship...
  • Winner of the "...best average finish" will get an honourable mention, and all associated kudos, at the end of the series...
  • Drivers who wish to be excluded from the championship table will take their points with them...
How's that sound?

Again, if anyone expresses a preference not to feature in the table, I don't have even the slightist problem with that :)

@ Paulie : "...I'd hope that Toivonen and I appearing yesterday helped make it one of the best SAR ever as you're all calling it" -- Let's just say it didn't hurt to have you lads on the grid ;)

In that case, fire away, sign me up.:) Where can I find a time table for tonight?:) (Won't be attending races during Dexter, don't expect me as a regular).

Hello guys, wondering if I might join in with some racing tonight and if so, what are the details? (not interested in points or anything, just some decent racing with decent grids).

Sounds good chris 👍

Similar concept that we were discussing a few weeks ago (i think).

That way it helps out drivers who can't make it often 👍

How would you keep track of how many races each of us has run? Perhaps add a column to the table 'Races run', that way it'd be easy to keep track of it all.

For the new guys, the schedule is here

Yeah, B, I think that'll work fine

Welcome to peter_vod69 👍

@ Paulie - if Dexter follows GNW, like Supernatural did (c 9.40pm), you can do the first four races no problem :)
