Missed the last lot of races due to a faulty power cable for my DFGT wheel. Will use a spare for next week.

Will probably keep it at daytona but change to car choices a bit in order to keep things a bit fresh.

Reading some of the posts above i'd like to touch on a couple of things.

ALL cars MUST use exactly the tune and/or limitations mentioned in the race thread. If a car is to run 'stock' it MUST be stock. No changing of tune allowed (no matter how small).

Drive cleanly and ON the track. Anyone who uses drives under the white line at Daytona must be really desperate. Dont do it. Drive clean and on the track as we all know it. Dont be a fool and cut corners.

And just one last thing about bumps, and accidents. **** happens, we all do it and we all cop it from time to time. I'd expect drivers in the wrong to allow the affected car to re-pass, and a little message in the way of an apology would be nice too.

MNR is all about some simple no hassle fun. Lets keep things fun for everyone 👍

Since you run it, i will ask you directly, because i run with No ABS, therefore its a must to alter the brake balance as its impossible to run with No ABS at the default 5/5 Value. During the MNR i ran with Brake Balance 3/1 for the R34 Races 3 and 4. Is this not ok? Am i not allowed to change anything at all within the Quick Tune Menu?

One of my mates has a PS3 now so I might get prologue again and join you guys! If it comes up for cheap on trademe that is.

I've just found out i'm off for a work function this comming Monday . Wasnt informed until today.

I was still going to post some races if guys wanted to have a crack, but in the end i decided to give MNR the week off. So, i'll probably give MNR a nice 1 week break and let everyone have some free time. Charge up your batteries gents, cause MNR will be back in 2 weeks with some good races!

I'd prefer people to use exactly what is listed on the race schedule so everyone is in exactly the same boat. I always include 'open' races so guys can run tunes that they desire (ie adjusted Brake Balance), but for the 'stock' races please keep within the guidelines (ie no adjustments to Brake Balance). It only will ever affect the 'stock' races, and i'd recommend that you consider applying ABS for these stockers :sly:

MNR will be back bigger and better after a one week break :)

But i doubt i'll be bigger or better :sly:

Must admit I passed someone under the line once and it went through my mind that I shouldn't have, botched the 1st corner more than i'd have liked... ran the last two races with the wrong settings :( coz I'd been running hot laps in Freemans thread and got mixed up (poor excuse)

If you normally run with ABS off, when you run these races just go into settings, scroll to the bottom and hit default settings, then go and set TCS to zero and your ready to race.

Thanks for the races tonight guys. Highly enjoyable once again. The AU/NZ crowd really is fantastic to race against. World class.👍

vrrm was a real standout for me tonight, he was consistently up the front and had good pace in every car. Nice driving mate.👍

See you all next week.

Better results & racing overall this week.

Race 1: Started 7th & worked my way through the pack to get to 2nd by about lap 3. From there it was a huge margin to vrrm so i just worked away at it and was catching him. Would have caught up if i had another lap up my sleeve but finished 2nd.

Race 2: Started 5th, got to 4th by lap 2 or so but again, big gap to the next few cars so spent the entire time trying to catch up. And again it was vrrm i was chasing with the exact same results as the first race, needed another lap & would have gotten his draft but ran out of laps and came 4th.

Race 3: Started 4th & wanted to push a bit harder this race as starting near the front helps a lot. Had gotten the lead off stonemonkey just after the start of lap 2 but a combination of running in a little too deep and an accident involving stonemonkey & ripping_silk (i think) caused me to catch the grass and half spin. Was 4th by then and spent the remainder of the race dueling with stonemonkey. At the chicane on the last lap i went in too fast and tapped him, causing him to go off but waited and we finished 3rd & 4th.

Race 4: Started 2nd and it was a race long battle between myself & vrrm. It was just us 2 out front with nobody else around and we swapped positions many times over the race. On the last lap i had gotten the lead however this was a bad thing. Vrrm played some tactics and backed off down the back straight so he could instead get the pass after the chicane. When you're leading in that sort of situation, coming out of the chicane you're pretty much a sitting duck with no chance and vrrm easily got the draft and went by to take the win & I finished 2nd.

Race 5: Used the 07 WRX and started 5th. Wasn't confident at all going into the race as the setup i had for the car was pretty crap. Too much understeer and the brakes were terrible. Ended up being a boring and lonely race running 3rd the entire time with cars in front & behind too far away to pose a challenge. Mad spun off i think on the 4th lap giving me a slight chance maybe to have a go but my car just wasn't setup right. Finished 3rd.

Race 6: Changed the setup using help from the chat room and the car was MUCH better. Started 7th and worked my way up to 3rd after 2 laps or so. Big gap to mad & vrrm put pushed like hell to catch up and finally got to them at the end of lap 4. Passed them on the main straight and got the lead into turn 1. But again, it was a repeat of race 4, where since i was in the lead, vrrm & mad slowed a tad on the back straight to set me up for the pass in the final straight. Tried to hold them at bay but both got by & i finished 3rd.

Much better results, in the top 4 every race, however was very disappointed to not get a win as i was really trying. Especially in those 2 races to lose it for being in the lead in the wrong spot was very frustrating. Oh well, try again next week!

Also daytona RC is a pretty annoying track. You're very much stuffed, in terms of winning, if you don't start top 5. The field spread is horrible. At least 4 of the races tonight i was often just driving around by myself, cars too far ahead or behind, which means you can never catch up as you don't have anyone to draft. Maybe its because the track is too forgiving? The only challenging corners are turn 1 and the chicane. Apart from that you really cant go wrong usually. You can get away with little mistakes & not loose time. Looking at suzuka though for example, you make a small mistake and often you're gone, big trouble & lots of time lost. I think also the rolling start is part of the problem. The cars are way too spread out there right from the start. Maybe a side by side rolling start would solve the problem?

Anyway, cheers to everyone for the great races :)

Yes I did spin off in race 5 coming onto the oval. Well actually I understeered off the track.

I really need to take notes after races so I can do a write up like this. I can never remember what happened.

Yeah, its hard to remember what went on sometimes

I just write down my starting & finishing positions after each race, then try to remember the rest the best i can :P

That race was awesome! for me anywho lol, i was sitting 5th at the time as the Evo from an outsider blasted past on the final banked corner. Coming into turn 1 i took it easy and then watched as all 3 drivers ahead of me slid off the track into half spins. Put a grin on my face i tell ya! :D Vrrm caught and past me soon after but i held on just enough to be annoying, he ended up losing it going into the chicane and i kept it between the lines to take my first and only victory! ABS=0 FTW! :D

Race 4 i had the same problem as you. I think i watched you slowly pull away from me. I couldnt keep pace through the initial windy infield part of the track and then couldnt go any faster than you to catch your draft. I was hoping for a slip up by someone at that stage. I ended up being caught by mad94d during lap 3, in which ended the last few laps on a high note, alot of fun having a close battle! He gifted me 4th after thinking he blocked me, which wasnt the case, 4th was his, and well deserved too.

Its the field spread problem with GT5P's rolling starts. If everyone maintains position and speed through the infield at the start, then coming onto the banking even last place can catch up. But thats very unlikely, as soon as someone messes a corner up, everyone behind them wont be able to catch the leading bunch.

Cheers everyone! Really enjoyed races 3&4! one and two i was no where in the alfa, and 5&6 i didnt particpate in as i didnt have an appropriate car (new save file), like last week i would have just fallen quickly to the back of the grid, so i removed myself from being a mobile chicane for all the sub's out there. Looking forward to further weeks of MNR!

Yeah the rolling starts seem to be the problem as like i said, the cars are too spread out already before its even begun. If you're starting towards the back of the pack, then the first 2-3 cars are already off into the distance before you get to the start/finish line. As you say, if everyone were to keep the exact same speed & position through the infield, then yes, when you reach the speedway section drafting is possible and even the guys at the back can keep up. But that's never the case. Someone goes off or is a bit slower & the first few make a break and that's it unless an accident occurs for them.

It also doesn't help that the game for some reason, places a select few drivers usually in the top 3-4 every time on the grid. Not sure if its done on latency or another method (excluding the usual PP) but it seemed at least last night certain people always started at the front, while others always started at the rear. I was lucky enough to usually be in about the middle, with one top 3 start but a more random system would be better at Daytona RC or even just in general. Can't do anything about it now as that's just how the game is but for the full GT5 release, I hope they fix this or at least, as i said, give the option for side by side rolling starts, with less distance between each row/car.

G'day lads. This will be my last MNR that i will be organising (having a long overdue break from Gran Turismo for a while). Crazyhorse will be taking the reigns and running the Monday races, as well as his usual Sunday afternoon events. i'll probably drop in for the odd race from time to time, but apart from that and the odd hotlap session the ole raceframe and wheel will be hooked up to the PC for some racing. GT5:P is getting a bit old and is not holding enough interest for me atm, so i'll be waiting patiently for the full release of GT5 and then i can come back all recharged and ready to race :)

I've ditched Daytona and its rolling starts for the good ole Suzuka circuit this time around. All of these races have been run on previous MNR's and so i'd expect many of you would still have the tunes in your garage.

Looking forward to hitting the grid with you guys 👍

CAR - Mazda RX7 or Mazda RX8
COMMENTS - S3 Tyres only. No TCS. Tune either car up to 550PP.

RACE 2 @ 8'26pm (GMT +10)
CAR - Mazda RX7 or Mazda RX8
COMMENTS - S3 Tyres only. No TCS. Tune either car up to 550PP. I'm encouraging guys to pick the car that they didnt use for Race 1. Its not compulsory, but i think it would be fun for guys to have to use either the RX7 for one race, while the RX8 for the other. That way we might get a good sprinkling of both cars in both races to add some variety. As i said its not compulsory as i know lots of us have limited time to test and tune cars as it is.

CAR - OPEN

Just wish to say thankyou for organising the AU/NZ events.
Sorry for the no shows on a couple of the nights.

I'm still not done with GT5P just yet but I know how your feeling.

GT5 is only afew months away - bring the noise!

see you on track :)

I'll be there again tonight :) Happy to be back at suzuka with standing starts. Although had a look at the torc forums and the proposed rolling start procedure is a good idea, which should be used for future events at daytona. Would defiantly help stop the field spread problem. See you guys on the track!

Yeah there Rolling start idea is great. It would be great fun to go 2 wide though.:D I can already see that everyone is going to step on the noise pedal as soon as they can to get a jump on each other, like real restarts. Should be good though, it will help sort out the rolling starts problem. But it's gonna be great to be back at Suzuka with standing starts and RWD cars.:D 2 weeks ago the schedule was nearly identical and I had great fun.👍 Race you all soon.

I'll be there again tonight, but I'll probably only make the first few. Always great to race with such skilled drivers who always give such a fast, clean race. Also thanks to Rypien for all the work he has put into organising these races for us. 👍

See you all on track!

I should be there for all of them but when School goes back(next week) i'll probably just turn up to the first few like Nick. I think bringing MNR forward an hour would be great but then it gives Perth problems because they're already starting very early, but it would definetely help NZ out a lot.

Race you all soon.

Had a very unstable PS3 connection last night. Got online about 5 times but every time i dropped out after about 20 seconds. Damn you PS3! :grumpy:
