So we've made it to half distance, really proud of that. After losing the 1 car, I was worried if the other car would even make it any further but thankfully we've done it. Erik and Alex have done a nice job with the 2 car, were laps down but we're still in the top 10 in class and overall. We haven't had near the speed those Astons have had and we've really didn't nail the setup for this weekend, but we haven't given up. We're 8th and all we need to do is keep the car clean and hold off the Jahgee and HRSC cars and 8th is as good as ours. Alex is in the car now and hopefully, he and Erik can keep up the work for the rest of the night.

Daytona Beach, Florida - January 10th, 2016: After 12 grueling hours of racing around the famous Daytona International Speedway, both Aston Martin Vantage GTEs are still going strong, with the #43 holding 6th in class tightly. Before Daytona, however, we forgot to report that we would be replacing drivers in both cars due to deals falling through.

Replacing Nobuteru Taniguchi will be Nanami Kanzaki from the Tsuchigami no Kyojin GT300 effort, and a fourth driver, Tom Rockford, a free agent, has been added to the #43 driver roster. Kyle Busch and Tatsuya Kataoka remain in the car.

The #44 has had an absolute revamp, with only Miku Hatsune staying in that seat. Replacing Izawa and Orido is Suzuka Tsuchigami and Yui Narumi.

Tatsuya Kataoka qualified the #43 car in 10th for today, while Miku Hatsune proved that she had learned quickly, qualifying the #44 car in 18th.

With Kyle Busch and Suzuka Tsuchigami taking the first stints of the race, the two AMR cars went their separate ways. Kyle Busch charged up to a top 5 spot, with Tsuchigami struggling a bit with the car. The #44 dropped even further back when switching over to Miku Hatsune with 2 hours in the race, going as low as 37th overall.

However, things seem to be improving for our #44 camp, with the car coming into itself in the night time. The car was last seen in 28th overall.

What is most commendable is that we have had little problems with the cars! Despite a little bit of damage to the rears of the cars, both the #43 and #44 have been soldering on through the night. There was a little panic with the #95 Ravenwest Aston Martin retiring due to a critical Gearbox failure, but the Goodsmile team is hopefully assured that we will go on to see the daylight.

The drivers have criticized the setup, however. Tom Rockford mentions a bit of a speed difference.

"Like, when I was on the really fast part, I can barely get the car to like, top out or whatever it's called, man. I've been racing that 94 car and I was like, 'Yo, what's wrong with the car, bro?' Like, the car is nice and stuff, but like, it's pretty slow man, and that's not cool, man."

Team Engineer, Guillermo Vega, added with his thoughts on the setup with 10 hours in.

"We see a very apparent disadvantage; the cars have too much downforce. I've talked to some of our drivers and they all have mentioned that we are losing speed in the oval parts of the track. Comparing the other Aston Martin entry, it's apparent that we were too safe with our setup."

With 13 hours logged into the race, it will be interesting to see how we can cope with the cars!

Frank Monterrey, Chief Engineer: "We're right where we need to be. Lucky for us one of the Frizteam 12Cs had a mechanical failure, but that's what happens if they don't hire me to keep everything in check. Our biggest strength will be how well our cars hold together."

Car #76:
Rena Hirose (starter): "Dealing with the faster prototypes at race speeds was a bit scary at first, but they're still better than trying to dodge advanced air-to-air missiles."
Rena Hayami: "Nothing huge to report. Had a few near-misses, but everything looks fine according to Frank."
Reina Akikawa: "Well, if nothing else, there's lots of great footage of the global Endurance racing scene for my camera crew to capture! The sights and sounds are something you just HAVE to experience in person."

Car #77:
Amber Sebringson (starter): "I find it distasteful how these prototypes run GT car drivers like me literally up a wall; don't these guys know any restraint!? Man, this race is giving me all sorts of BAD flashbacks I didn't need to remember."
Emma Pergusa: "I seriously hope the Frizteam guys don't ALL suffer from a bunch of failures. I've been peeved that we've been beaten by them all week, but I want to beat these guys legitimately."
Jack Acid: "Well, after the 🤬 debacle in qualifying, I'm pleasantly surprised that Amber was putting up a real fight against these guys. I'm just glad we're ahead of Ravenwest."

2 car is out :(

About sums up the luck this weekend really.

After making it through the night, all the cars have run rather consistently. The #73 currently sits 12th place in class, just seconds ahead of the #95 Ravenwest Aston. The #75 occupies the 15th place in class, and the #74 follows close behind in 16th. Hopefully all three cars make it to the finish cleanly, we don't want any problems that hinder us from getting some good telemetry for the next race.

Wow, the 4 just crashed. I'm just stunned, I was convinced it was basically gonna win.

Unofficial Results

Thrilled with a podium, but feel bad for @tbwhhs who was dominating until the #4 retired. Seems the Lola AMR and McLaren 12c were fast but unreliable, with only 1 of each finishing. Congrats to the winners Optiongamers and Frizbe

Nick Tandy (#25): Awesome job by the crew this weekend, first to get the inaugural pole position for the Tag Heuer WSC and then to follow it up with a podium! We didn't quite have the race pace and we'll need to look into that, but it's been a really positive start to the year for us.

Aaron Van der Linden (#26): Well, that was a much shorter race than we were hoping for. Our numbers said we would easily be able to do an extra lap before pitting, but we had a fuel pickup issue and I ran out just as I entered the pitlane. We weren't allowed to push the car our stall, so we had to retire. Not how our side of the garage wanted to start the year, but we'll be back fighting for Noriko's home race at Fuji.

After 24 hours of high speed endurance racing, the team scores 4th and 5th place! "The team definitely performed better and better as the race went on. Very good work from them" team owner Roman Green said. "Hopefully we can get some podiums later this season, yeah?"

Any news on a livery?

"Oh yeah. You'll see it next race" he said with two thumbs up and a grin. 👍:)👍

Tatsuya Kataoka, #43 driver: "6th is a good result. I'm already familiar with the way this team works, so driving today was a routine. All the parts of the team worked like a well-oiled machine, just like our own car. Our pit stop training really helped us gain some time on the other teams, for sure. We'll come back next round even stronger, I feel! This is a championship worthy team!"

Nanami Kanzaki, #43 driver: "It was my first time driving in the dark, actually! I'm used to the daylight in time attack cars, so it's really a contrast to what today's event was! I was exhausted after all of my stints were finished! You really need to be on full attack the whole time. Daytona treated me well, I just wished we could have caught the Ravenwest car..."

Suzuka Tsuchigami, #44 driver: "Enjoyed today's race; I suppose that a top 10 finish in our class is pretty good, 8th is okay. But the experience today was like none other, really. Yeah, I mean, the race was great. Car handled okay. But I can't believe I got to meet Hatsune Miku while driving for each other's team! I-uh, we had a good day overall, it's just that I got a bit starstruck and maybe that's why I didn't perform too well. I'll have to get used to it-we have 9 rounds left in the season."

Team owner, Ukyo Katayama: "The whole team put in a great effort today! I am proud of our accomplishment in our first international outing! We have a lot more to prove throughout the season, so keep your eyes on us!"

Thanks @Earth for the livestream, very nice broadcasting and racing that went on throughout the night. I'm sure @aarror and @GTracerEHTeam had a 'blast' seeing if our cars were still running by the end of the night.

Stefano di Fiorano, Team Director: "No disappointment from me, a podium finish is what I wanted, and we got double that. Helps that we've got the best chief engineer in the business."
Frank Monterrey, Chief Engineer: "Great result, helluva drive from our girls and Jack! We probably could have caught the last Frizteam 12C if our setup were a little more extreme, but we'll git 'em next time."

Car #77 (2nd in class):
Amber Sebringson: "Shame we missed out on the win, but this is a good start to the season! Next time I won't let my little fears hold me back."
Emma Pergusa: "I kind of wish we got to properly duel wheel-to-wheel with some of the Frizteam boys. I kinda feel like our podium places were just handed to us. I promise we'll have a proper battle next time we meet, hehe~!"
Jack Acid: "You know, my first impression of this team was that it was some ladies' man's harem. The girls did a damn fine job today proving me wrong. And any day where my team and I beat out Ravenwest is a good day!"

Car #76 (3rd in class):
Rena Hirose: "Some of the in-team duels between me and the #77 were really fun! Though we did have to pull a few punches to avoid knocking each other off the track in our excitement."
Rena Hayami: "For a driver trio consisting of me, an ex-pilot, and an idol, I think we pulled a miracle! Let's make it happen again next round!"
Reina Akikawa: "Years of running the Loop Line and Wangan in some of the craziest tuned cars Japan could come up with have prepared me well. I think these slicks have ruined my sense of handling, though! I'm going to wish every car I drive in the future handles like our car did today!"

Well that was just the epitome of my entire weekend.

While we are completely brokenhearted over how the race ended for the #4 car, we also were very encouraged at our performance this weekend. To have all 3 of our cars near the top of the leaderboard was a testament to how hard the guys worked back at the shop to get the cars ready, and the performance of Allstar Racing just help show why we believe that the DBR is the best car out there. We also couldn't be more thrilled with the performance of our drivers and the pit crews for keeping us out front. Based on all that we surely didn't deserve the results we got, but we'll get over it in a day or two and then we'll start getting the cars ready for Fuji.

Tense moment for EH Team racing, all cars were in a pack with each other.

BTW, @Earth where did you get that handy replay interface?

Its called TVstyle for rFactor. A few downloads will have a preset interface like that of many famous racing series. The graphics style I used though was custom built by me to imitate the WEC.

I can live with what one of my cars did. The second one, I mean, it got through to the end. More than you can say about the third one..

All in all, about as mixed a goodie bag as always.
