Just done this event with buckrodgers tune, bob was flying round, laps around 1.34.

it took me three goes, after the first 2 fails i exited and went back in until there was just 1 of the chapparal 2j in the front 7.

won by 20 seconds

Junk in the trunk. 50 kilos ballast pushed all the way back helped me smoke this race in the 7.

One of the most popular thread topics of all time here. Medium turbo upgrade seems to work best. Set tranny for 155 or 162 max, and calm down Bob before the evil chicane.

👍 Bob finally won it for me in the Toyota 7 taking the proverbial "junk in the trunk" suggestion above. These were the keys:

1. Medium Turbo
2. Set trans top speed to 155
3. Medium racing meats
4. Place weight to +50 (all the way aft)
5. Decrease Bob's speed/meter at the beginning of the tunnel before the Nouvelle chicane on every lap
6. Decrease Bob's speed/meter on the last turn before the final chicane on every lap
7. Make sure the Chap 2J does not start in the first 3 spots on the grid
8. Push up throughout the rest of the race unless almost bumper to bumper with the car immediately in front of Bob, in which case, push to pass.

same, buckrodgers tune was great! thanks for the advice guys.

this didn't kill me too much. i went in expecting a hassle but won it the third time.

Won it with the Toyota 7, can't remember what tune I used. I do remember a lot of camber, tranny set to 167, reducing LSD settings by 2 on each and spamming Pace Up. On Trial Mountain 2J started first, two Toyota 7's behind him. Dropped back to 9th on start whilst I'm swearing at Bob. After plenty of 'Overtake' and Pace Up, he passed and got his way to 4th within the first lap. It was a war of attrition after that passing the 7'son the next two laps. Kept Bob maxed in the red, he took some crazy overtakes which worked. The 2J was hard though. Didn't pass 2J until the 6th lap. Once passed, he didn't pose a challenge. Cote was similar, overtook 2J on the last lap through the tunnel :D

Right this is the set ups for Monaco for the Toyota 7, again my lvl 21 bob breezed this.

Buy and install Racing Mediums and Lvl 2 Turbo upgrade...not sure how he'll do without the turbo.

Full Downforce

Transmission set to 162mph max

LSD 30/55/30

Suspension

Camber F 1, R 1.5
Toe F -.1, R -.05 (- is a minus)

Height F -22, R -23
Spring F 17.5, R 18
Damper Extension F 7, R 8
Damper Compression F 8, R 8
Anti-Roll F 7, R 7

Brakes F 8, R 8.

Bob, does need to be pushed hard on the first couple of laps. You should be ok once you get the lead. Dont give up if you have a crash. I've just won it again after 2 crashes, 1 at the chicane and 1 at the turn before the S/F straight.

Make sure to overtake the minute you hit the S/F straight, he can and will overtake all the way up to Casino hairpin.

Ease off at the chicane after the tunnel and try to time it for the last corner of the lap before the S/F straight IF he's sitting behind another car.

After several failed attempts I used these exact settings and won the race. I beat the 2J by 23.40 seconds which is miraculous considering I could never get past 2nd place. Thank you!!! 👍

Hello,

Just a quick guide on the setup that helped me won so i'd thought I would share it with you.

This setup was only used to win the Cote d'Azur race which in my opinion is really fustrating.

Car/Vehicle: Toyota 7 Race Car '70

Tires: Racing Medium

High RPM Range Turbo Kit

Aerodynamic: Front 60, Rear 85

Transmission: Max speed 186

LSD:

Initial Torque 30

Acceleration Sensitivity 55

Braking Sensitivity 30

Suspension:

Ride Height -30 (both)

Spring rate 20.0 (both)

Dampers Ex 10 (both)

Dampers Comp 10 (both)

Anti-roll 7 (both)

Wheel Alignment:

Camber Angle front 7.0, rear 0.0

Toe Angle front 0.10, rear 0.15

Brakes:

Front 9

Rear 8

With this setup I was able to win +22.265 seconds ahead of a 2J!

A more minimalistic approach to the setup:

Toyota 7
Added +50 kg ballast to the back of the car.
Won by ten seconds or so.

This probably should have just been added to one of the many threads about this exact race. Also, it helps when the 2J does not start in the 1st spot.

If you having trouble with this race just give it a few tries until the 2J is stuck in the pack.

P.S. Junk in the trunk is what got me the win (with a good setup too). Bob messed up twice and still killed them.

My Bob won it with a '74 countach. failed miserably with some other (untuned) cars I tried, including Jaguar 66, Toyota 70, Corvette Stingray, Ford GT40,

Since PSN is still down, I figured I'd do some B-Spec, and I failed hard at untuned Toyota, Jaguar, Ford GT40, (I swear I had the 2J, can't find it!), so I gave him a '74 Countach, and he won the event by 0.12s I still hate B-Spec with a passion, I don't understand the out of whack level difficulties of AI from one event to the next.

Got this one with Lvl. 19 Bob and a Toyota, with the medium turbo upgrade, works better with more torque, than the less controllable high end turbo.
+ LSD and Tranny adjustments
I used max downforce

(From this Board)
Initial Torque: 30
Acceleration Sensitivity: 55
Braking Sensitivity: 40

Thanks! In case someone still struggling with Monaco, this tune simply destroyed any competitor on the field, just take care of your bspec until it get the lead than it's all a matter of keeping that 2J away by increasing pace a little when your bob start chilling.

I used the 30/55/40 LSD on the Toyota 7 with a lvl 2 turbo, didn't have the power to overtake the 2J without. The key to the chicane is avoiding being side by side with another car, not a guarantee, but Bob is almost certain to crash if he is. I reduced pace at the casino to avoid this then pace up after the chicane.

I finally got to finishing this off today. Haven't tried it in MONTHS. B-Spec is finally done except for endurances. The tune on this page did it for me on the first try with lots of input from me to Bob. Won by 3 seconds.

I still refuse to believe point blank that this godawful race can be won. No matter what tunes I try, no matter what car, all of my B-spec losers miss every pass and then plough a barrier, whatever button I press. I'm starting to think PD should have a look at their AI coding and maybe make winning this race possible.

^ Read the post above yours, and then scroll up further for a Toyota 7 tune. It won me this race today first try after not trying for several months.

I refuse to use the Toyota 7, Bob can't keep it out of Walls and It's way too frustrating to watch. If anyone has a tune to stop the XJ13 being so sluggish or something that improves a Shelby Cobra I'll be happy to try

What´s the level of your Bob?

Mine did very well on Cote with the 7.
I borrowed one from a friend. He had added a Stage 3 turbo to it.
I only had to increase the top speed and let Bob run the 1st lap permanently on overtake.
After that I let him maintaining the pace a bit over half permanently.
He won the race by 25 secs.

I tried my level 24 and my level 18, no luck with the 7 at all. I tried switching my stage 3 for a stage 2 and played with the gears, could get good acceleration but still can't get my drivers to stay out of the Armco on the corners

Cote race. Toyota 7 worked for me. Took about 4 attempts to get it right. After the first failure, stuck a big old turbo on it; made it worse. So, I tried the opposite line of thinking: REDUCED the max power to about 650hp. Weird I know. I went for a 'Bob-friendly' setup; from standard tune I increased the ride height, and also the dampers and roll bar. Max downforce of course. Bob instantly got better at controlling the thing. Then it was a case of re-entering the race to get more favourable opposition (ie, to not have 2 x 2J's starting in front of me :sly:). From there, just had to make sure that Bob backed off when entering the harbour chicane. Imagine how good it felt to watch the 2J crash in that very place! Lucky maybe, but them's the breaks. And yeah, once the Toyota 7 hit clear air, he was off like a rat up a drainpipe. He's got the measure of pretty much everything in that race, but the 2J can be a right pain in the you-know-what. And yeah, Bob is far too polite, particular in the downhill hairpin (Loews I call it, being an old git).

Frustrating at times, but definitely do-able with the Toyota 7. And the prize car is just sweet.

Can I give my class 16 Bob the Mustang Mach 1?

That's way out of any A-Spec driver's reach, never mind any Bob's.

But yeah, Toyota 7 is the one to go for. However, you have to be at a higher level for Cote d'Azur since there's hardly anywhere to overtake there. Even then the AI are complete morons at Cote d'Azur (mainly the chicane).

I had another go at this.

B-Spec driving the Toyota 7 @ Historic Car Cup , Cote d`Azur , Expert Series

Car is stock (stock power / weight)
Top Speed was set to 217 mph , rest of the Settings are default.
Racing Medium Tyres were used.

With the Toyota 7, my Bob (high level at the time) was just crashing in the final corner before the finish line. It's like "he's" oblivious to the cars width.
Later on I just won the 20mil Jaguar from the A-Spec Indy 500 Endurance race and "he" got the win first try with it.

Just a friendly observation, I posted this in the wrong thread. You don't have to pace down at all, read below.

I've read the threads about it sucks, glitches, tune blah blah blah. For the most part a generic copied tune from someone else will work, but the true key to this race is patience.

Your bob no matter what level is gonna smack the chicane wall at least 1, maybe twice. That usually occurs in the first 2 laps so not all your time is wasted.

The 2J will jump out and get a huge lead, you can let him go, even the computer bob's will mess up eventually, my bob is now finishing this race after hitting the wall twice, got past the 2J and is now crossing the finish line first about 5 seconds ahead of the 2J.

It is frustrating but if you let the race go through, you guy can get it done, PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE

Toyota 7 RC

aero: max f/r
trans: top speed 155
lsd: T9, AS36, BS18
ride height: -20,-20
spring rate: 11.8/12.8
extension: 6/5
compression: 5/4
anti RB: 6/5
camber angle: 1.5/1.5
toe angle: 0.00/0.20

I hope this helps, did it on the first try..............Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the exact problem, I had tried almost every car for that era. Even with the 2J Bob still ran into the corners and lost the race.

I eventually found that if I tuned the car to promote understeer Bob would leave plenty of room. I tested with a few different cars that Bob couldn't seem to win with previously and had success in them all.

To promte understeer I just reduced the spring rate and both dampenings on the rear to a value lower than the front.
