Why the **** does Bob CONTINUALLY turn straight into the wall at the chicane at the bottom of the back straight with no pressure on him whatsoever???? Really starting to peeve!!!!!!

The Cote d'Azur race is very simple with the Toy 7: don't add anything to it. Adding turbos will freak out Bob. Standard Toy wins easily. 👍

I share a Chaparall 2J for an easy win. I also share a X1 and a Ferrari F2007

Feel free to add me on PSN: xi_hyperion

I was really hesitating about the "add 60 kg in the back of the Toyota 7 and it will run like the wind", but it worked like a charm! Got the lead on lap 2 and from then on it was just smooth sailing, backed off on the pace to avoid crashing in barriers and still won by 9 seconds before the 2J's!

Guess some concrete in the trunk isn't that bad after all

Hate it when cars hit the barrier after the tunnel and other cars AND my bob slam into them even with decrease pace. Then other slam into my bob and he keeps on the throttle even with the barrier ini front of him.

won deep forest in 2nd try
now 2nd day of trying to win cote...

i started to be happy with what bob was doing after i went above level 20
but THIS race made me think again...i get pissed off so hard

bob has no clue about defensive-offensive line, he keeps hitting the god damned chicane and last corner rails...

i finally managed to win it !! thanks to this thread 👍

here's how:

bob is lvl 19, my b-spec lvl is 20
i used the toyota 7 with stage 2 turbo
average lap is about 1'43''...

full downforce
gears at 250 km/h

i tweaked the gear box hard but nothing was worth it, don't loose time here,
just put it to 250 km/h

suspension settings
-30 -30
15,6 15,6
9 9
6 6
6 7
1,5 1,0
0,25 0,15 it started to get better after i put front toe out...

clocking 1'41''6.. laps with this, ending 2nd or 3rd 👎

then i went for this ballast tip ( i remember it worked well for an alpine A110 on snow back in GT4 )
put like 54 kgs at 46....

while hitting overtake at the start then cooling him off for the chicane
bob went 2nd in 4 laps and overtook the 2J on the outside of the casino turn
like he was a good driver...

won the race with 10 sec on the 2J
clocking an impressive 1'37''9..

thanks to anyone that has helped me...hope i can help too with this

Finally, Bob pulled off a spectacular race win in Monaco!!!! WOOHOO! He launched the Jag to 5th by the first turn, 2nd behind the 2J at the first chicane. Cruises along in 2nd for the next 6 laps. And then decides to drive straight into the wall coming out of the last turn on lap7, right before start/finish. I could've cried. But wait...he's off in hot pursuit of the pesky 2J, on his bumper at the tunnel, thru the chicane, and on the last corner, last lap, passes the 2J on the inside for a 1.467 sec win!!!! 👍

Yes, it's nothing you can really do anything about, seems like the AI is a bit broken in that specific turn if they enter two side by side and can't make an out-in approach to the chicane. My suggestion is that (if you have the Toyota 7) you put 60 kgs of concrete in the trunk to give the 900 horsepowers some contact with the tarmac and when the race starts you spam increase pace so that Bob overtakes most of the field before the chicane comes on the first lap, then he will have the highest chance of getting there before there's a huge pile of cars all over the place. From then on it's just smooth sailing and trying to overtake the remaining car(s) in front of him.

I was able to get third or second on the first lap with the concrete method before the chicane and if you're among the first ones to reach the chicane there's plenty of more space to move about than if you're in the back of the field.

Yep, to have some junk in the trunk is really all that matters in this race. 👍

Chaparral 2J race car...even a fully tuned Toyota will have problems keeping up with that car in B-Spec

... but then the Toyota reveals its secret weapon: 60 kg of concrete strapped to the back of the car. And it's a certain win. I love it just because it sounds so wrong :D

Amen, I'm have the EXACT same problem. On about my 12th try, the dummy finally got all the way up to 2nd. I've prepped him the whole lap to cool down so he doesn't that eat chicance and what do you know, he completely biffs it trying to pass first and I was literally yelling in my seat for him not to.

I haven't tried it since.

So the real question is, can I win a series to get the 2J, or is only in the UCD?

I had an awful time trying to win the race with the Toyota 7 :indiff: Probably ten or more tries (most of them I cancelled in rage when Bob crashed and died at the chicane for the 100th time) :ouch:. Then I read about the the patent solution "Junk In The Trunk™" :odd:, you add 60kg of ballast in the very back of the car and it turns out that the car wasn't that bad after all, it was just too powerful to get any power down to the tarmac 💡. With some extra weight in the back the wheels grip a lot better and the car accelerates like a dream. :dopey: At my first attempt with "Junk In The Trunk™" I reached 2nd place before the end of lap 1, got in the lead on lap 2 and just kept pulling away. Won easily by over nine seconds. "Junk In The Trunk™" - Bob approved 👍

I started off using the Toyota 7 and won Deep Forest easily on the first run, but my Bob went...well Bob on me and couldn't place higher than second after MANY races no matter what I tried.

So I came here to seek the wisdom of the countless fellow racers and destroyed the Cote! Many, many thanks to all those that have contributed their knowledge to help us all get past this race.

Below are the settings I used to finally win, the bulk of the specs came from poster Geoff (thanks a ton!) with a couple of tweaks of my own here and there. Hope this helps out!

Toyota 7 (with oil change of course)
Aero - F: 60, R: 85
Weight Adjustment - BA: 55, BP: 46
Turbo - Stage 2
Transmission - Max 273
LSD - IT: 30, AS: 55, BS: 40

Suspension:
Ride Height - F: -30, R: -30
Spring Rate - F: 15.6, R: 15.6
Dampers E - F: 9, R: 9
Dampers C - F: 6, R: 6
Anti Roll Bars - F: 6, R: 7
Camber - F: 1.5, R: 1.0
Toe Angle - F: 0.25, R: .15
Brakes - F: 4, R: 7

Overtake from start (clean start), and was in 4th by the first turn. Advanced into second before I began pace down to start cooling Bob off before the chicane on the first lap. Overtook the 2J by lap and it was smooth sailing the rest of the way. Kept Bob just below center on cool while pacing up in the straight-aways and was ahead 15 seconds by 4th lap, so I pushed hard on the 5th and posted my best lap time: 1:33.675. Stopped instruction after that and let Bob finish it off by himself while I went and fixed me some food. Came back to find he had won by 23.463 secs!

Once again many thanks to everyone for posting all this info out here. Hope this is helpful!

Pushed my Bob all the time until he overtook the 2J in the 7th lap. Then I stopped giving him any commands.

[...]First, Bob has a tendency to run smack into the wall ending any real chance for a win (especially the chicane after the tunnel).

Yeah, that drove me nuts! First, I tried it with a Mark IV, in vain. He simply was too slow. The same with the Countach (which was recommended by another user somewhere in the depths of Google), the Miura and many muscle cars. By getting the Toyota 7 I was so absolutely confident that this is going to help me to win.
I was so wrong: The Toyota (fully tuned) was so slow at the start that very many opponents overtook him and he wasn't capable of catching up to the first cars.
Finally the XJ13 made it after hours of tries. At first the best he could do was getting 2nd, the Chaparral 2J always in front of him. So I quitted and re-started the race, hoping that the 2J will start behind my Jag. However, this has never happened. Fortunately I got a starting grid which meant the ruin for the 2J.

At the above mentioned chicane he was always struggling for the 1st position with the 330 P4... and crashed into the guard rail.
Eventually my bob managed to benefit from it and I won the race :dopey:
(I have to mention that I've tried it with a lvl 40 driver...)

Conclusion: One probably should get the 2J first. That can save you many hours of annoyance...

Thanks a lot man...I've been searching through a lot of tunes, but none worked and was looking for ones with the added ballast feature, and it's what won it for me, after like 2 hours of trying to win this event lol. i won by around 8 seconds

That chicane crash thing, if you tell your driver to decrease pace just before entering the tunnel, he'll like as not get round with no problem and still be reasonably quick.

Man, i couldn't win the last race with the Toyota 7 no matter what setup I ran. I must have tried 6 times before i decided to move on to an other event.

I decided to go race another event and then went back to the Historic race car cup right after wards.

I went into my garage before entering the race and noted where my horse power was. I then did an oil change for at least the 4th time but noticed the oil was nice and dark this time around, and I also noticed a 60 hp gain afterward.

I then went and ran the race. I had to do a little babysitting, but won the race by at least 10 seconds

so the secret to this race is to brake the engine in and do an oil change
( after the oil is dark ) to maximize the Horse Power. it may seem somewhat minimal but it made a large difference for me. hope this helps others.

The 'secret' is to use a 2J - you win the race without having to worry about car setup, oil changes, tuning, or issuing driver commands. In other words: no drama. I tried unsuccessfully to win with the Toyota 7 multiple times. I know it's possible because people have done it, but my bob was just too timid through the corners and when trying to overtake.

I put him in a 2J and he was in front halfway through the 2nd lap and won by 20+ seconds in his first attempt.

As I posted in the sharing my 2J thread. I have my 2J set to share. Send friend request to Aesma if you want to use it. I have my Bspec drivers shared if you want to use them, but you are under no obligation.

If you do want to use my Bspec drivers I will return the favor and you can also send a request to boostedfiend. Both accounts get heavy Bspec a few days of the week. I try to balance Aspec and Bspec.

I used the above (w/ trans at ~168 mph; I assume the 273 above is metric) and it worked great for me. My Bob was in 2nd after 1 lap, took the lead late in lap 2, and then I just let Bob run uncoached the rest of the way for a ~4 sec victory and a nice prize car to try out at the current seasonal event. Thanks!

After numerous amounts of frustration and trying every single suspension setting I could find on this forum I finally just let my bob run the course how he wanted to. I literally told him nothing. He got into first place on his own and continued to stretch on everyone once there and took first place. This definitely is the most frustrating race in the game though.

FINALLY a setup that worked!

The Bob take the lead on the second lap almost uncoached. Incredible!

Thank You, Buckrdgrz.

This is my 2nd official post here (1st if you exclude introduction) but I thought I'd help by simplifying the answer to beating this :).

How I won Gold on both races:
-I won the Toyota 7 by winning Like the Wind (to save time I just used the Formula GT)
-Purchased Mid Turbo for it (increases HP to 799 I think?) and Medium Slick tires

1st Race:
I used my B-Spec Kobayashi, level 15 then, and comfortably won the 1st race. I set him to Pace Up, then Overtake. I kept clicking to Pace Up until he obtained the lead (in a race with another Toyota 7 and a few Chaparral 2J). From there, I let him cruise and occasionally hitting Pace Up.

2nd Race:
I changed my setup a little bit. Put rear wing on max, took down my Transmission by 4 or 5 clicks. In LSD screen, I put the mid number up all the way. Kobayashi reached level 16 I think.

-1st attempt: I had selected Overtake more often than Pace Up, but eventually I learned from my mistake and kept on Pace Up. The hint here is how your guy behaves at the Harbor chicane, I found with Overtake he slipped the rear a bit and lost traction but he quickly caught up with Pace Up, even through twisty end. So, in lap 7 I am about to overtake in chicane but the AI (2J) throws Kobayashi on the inner wall, getting him stuck. He recovers still in 2nd and I kept doing Pace Up incessantly. The very next lap, 8/8, he is able to catch up by the same chicane and again he's thrown into wall. I finish 2nd.

-2nd attempt: No setup changes. I start the race on Pace Up, followed by Overtake right away. You should use Overtake when you see your B driver catching up but still some 20m away. By continuously pushing on Pace Up, without a single mistake from Kobayashi, I quickly caught up to 2J and in the final third of lap 3/8, Kobayashi passed (even before chicane!) and the 2J tried to keep up but it slid wide on the corner before pit straight, getting stuck and spinning. I sailed in the distance, winning by 19s.

My advice: Always Pace Up, don't push Overtake if you're less than 5s away from the chicane.

I think thAt in the last Upgrade PD has made an improvement of the BSpec..
The reason! Yesterday i Won the Hstoric with a pilot level ... 11 !

iT was the first victory for this BSpec pilot :dopey ...

The Cote race has been the subject of waking nightmares for a fornight now. So I came here and with the setup help from you guys for my Toyota 7 my drivng monkey won by 20 secs. Just needs the settings to control the car. Slow him down before THE chicane and get him out in front. Then it's a doddle

Finally able to win the Cote with Toyota 7 '70. How aggravating! After 3 hours of trying the several settings posted and especially a teaching I saw which I guess opened my eyes. Until I used the "overtake" command. Silly. (Still learning.) What a difference. After a major crash at the "chicane" which put the hated 2J back at 10th on the 3rd lap. Took the lead by the next the 4th lap. Got a huge lead and let Bob be on is own(with occasional props from me). Now I can move along.
Thank You for all the postings from everyone. (Hope I posted this correctly. Still learning)

no way for me to win that event. my lvl 27 bob crashs either first or second chicane, or both, almost every lap. tried about 10 times now, no progress. i used one of the mentioned setup which was working for others here. i´m sure my bob could win this event easy with this setup, but since he crashes almost every round it´s impossible to win.. don´t know what to do :(

*edit*

lol, i can´t watch this anymore, now he was 2nd and close to the 2j and was standing about 10-15 seconds at the chicane, going round on the barrier. this is more than frustrating..
