I have you set to always use and leave one driver free on my hosting account since you appear to be the only person, of late, running my main account's drivers. If you want me to change anything let me know.

Is it possible to write such a widget in php... so anyone who has a apache-server with php can run b-spec on the web automatically?!
 
Very likely. If you download the widget, rename it to be a zip file, you can open the widget and examine/modify the files.

It just emulates the Gran-turismo.net web page for remote races, so it should be able to modified as you suggested.

Does this mean the yahoo widget won't be downloadable from their site after the 10th?

If it is not going to be available shouldn't we give others a heads up so they can download the widget program while it's still available from the source?

P.S. I know we can always upload it elsewhere but it's always safer to get downloads from the source.

Web site will be down from April the 10th so the normal external route to download the OS will be gone. Does not say that the OS files will be deleted. just that the Widget sites will be gone.
There have been plenty of Mirrors added before they just are not on the front page so are harder to find.

Thanks for the information Graphite. I always like going to the source for downloading programs because it's much safer. Since the site is going down and we have to download it elsewhere I'll post the MD5 and SHA1 hashes. This will allow anyone to check if the file is identical/legit or not. You can use a free program to check the hashes of your downloads like 'Hasher' from the late Karen Kenworthy. http://www.karenware.com/powertools/pthasher.asp

As of the15th of April 2012 1200 GMT the hosting links of yahoo on the First page still work from the UK. So Big Fuss over nothing... Again..:sly:

Also only the PC versions are discontinued, TV widgets are full steam ahead.

Setup the grinder on another psn account and added my primary gt5 psn account as a friend but in manage drivers in the widget, it shows with a ? next to my primary account name in my friends drivers and cant use the drivers, how to i fix this?

Make sure your main account has accepted the fr. Log off the main and back on to the mule and check the gt5 friend list. It can take up to a day or two for the servers to synch up and the widget to pull the data down.
 
Links on front page still work as of 24th.
Just reinstalled in VM.

Does anyone know where the Grinder stores the driver info and Grinder preferences? I run all internet facing applications in Sandboxie and need the paths so the info is written to the real location and not deleted when I delete the sandbox. I was able to find the path of the logs and it is working fine.

edit: When grinding for long periods, is it ok to turn off the controller? Will everything still work normally?

Yes The DS3 should be on auto power off from XMB as well incase you forget... (Turn TV and audio device off as well.)
If you have family members Who switch things of with out asking. you should make a little black cover for the stand by button of PS3.
PC must not go into sleep or hibernate mode ether. just the display only.
 
Thanks GraphiteGB! I'll set the controllers to auto power off. The batteries don't seem to last as long as they did before the last PS3 update and leaving them on when grinding all day drains them quickly.

Do you have a guess as to where the driver info is stored/saved on the computer? When using the sandbox I can move drivers to always run and it works but after I delete the sandbox the driver info is back to the way it was. I see that there is a cookie file, a driver helmet file as well as other files/folders.

I'm using Sandboxie because I trust it and the laptop is too old with only 256MB of RAM. It just won't run an anti-virus program and Sandboxie is better anyways. The laptop is just an old spare and it's main purpose right now is grinding.
 
Just rebuilt the hard drive on my PS3. Forgot to back up my saved game data for my mule account Dragonscotch. For any of you that were using this account for your grinding purposes, I apologize for the lack of races over the last few days and the next few as I rebuild my driver stable. For any of you who wish to add this account to your main, please put it on "Never use" in your widget.

If you need more drivers for your pool to help get races started, send FR to dragonwhisky. That account still has 6 drivers shared.

Anyone know the limit on how many friends we can have? I usually delete anyone that hasn't logged in over 30 days on both accounts.

Nope not a clue, sorry, Windows is not my Primary OS used...
(Kubuntu 1st, ubuntu 2nd, OSX 3rd, IOS 4th, Android 5th, then windows. lol )
 
My grinder closed automatically what's the solution it wasn't even on when I checked and I'am positive it was on because it was racing until I checked in the morning.

If you started the widget, ran some races, then come back to find the widget gone.
Thats a widget crash if the widget os had shut down its was a terminal Yahoo OS crash.
You may have a content clash that cause a one of crash or a system conflict that causes repeated shut downs.
Yahoo Widget OS has lots of problems thats why Yonis planned to dump it... for chrome browser extension.

Ya thanks it happened again a few moments ago pretty mad becuase I left my ps3 on for a long period of time and my ps3 is very old. I bought it in the first month it came out and I'am worried if I do this to much YLOD will occur. So would you suggest not to do it until he gets the chrome extension or do it less often. For example only on the weekends.

Yonis got a life, hes technically given up on the widget. so currently the browser extension is now also just as dead as the widget in development. So no point waiting.
Another reason I use a Virtual machine instead of a Boot partition is to limit the cpu use that windows uses to run the widget and yahoo OS.

I am having problems with my widget it is just saying "waiting" on the status, i have deleted it and reinstalled. Any one have any ideas?

yep Turn PC off and on again.
Uninstalling never deletes all files in Windows. You need a cleaner app for that.
You should also alter the login details to some thing new. so that the cookie data for the app is over ridden with new data then put in your correct info and use the F-RA option on the right button menu.
