B-Spec in GT5

I think the B-Spec mode in GT5 sounds pretty cool. Much deeper than before. I actually liked it just fine in GT4 as well. I would let B-Spec Bob run several races over and over again but of course I ran them all myself as well. Normally I would run the race and take gold and then I would let Bob run it to improve his skill of course he needed a stronger car to win than what I was using when I ran it.

IN GT4 Bob could run a lot of races for you and if you prefered you coul dhave him run them so you did not have to. Still you could not complete the game without running some of the hardest ones yourself. The special condition races and the missions did not allow the use of your B-Spec driver. Also if you used B-Spec to complete a lot of races instead of doding it yourself then you did not receive any A-Spec points.

Someone mentioned running a 24 hour race in FF in 3 hours, lol. The FF mode was 3x speed which means it takes 8 hrs to complete a 24hr race but the FF was turned off everytime the car pits so you have to either watch the race and turn the FF back on after every pit or the race will still take a very long time.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new game offers.

B-Spec or "Blue" spec as Kaz said has been a idea since GT2000. Its a big part of GT and the B-Spec mode in GT4 was limited and didn't have any of the variables that you get when driving yourself. B-Spec looks amazing in GT5 so much more about time management , strategy and now more skill. Cant wait 24/11/10

B-Spec was in GT4, and it IS in GT5 (confirmed).

What's the big deal to you children about it being in the damn game? Don't like it, don't use it. Jebus, it's not being forced down your throats.

I think its more the time that went into developing B-spec, rather than developing new cars and tracks.

From what we've heard, the game development was focused 50/50 on A-spec and B-spec which sounds like a lot of development time (and money) for something so gimmicky

B-Spec driver profile it looks like. It was on an Arabic picture site. Apparently GT5 is being sold in Dubai already

Sweet can't wait to try B-Spec in GT5.

Edit: It now looks like we'll have to name them something other than B-Spec Bob.

Don't think so, the AI already have names drawn from a data pool. You don't create them they are generated and you nuture them, and they'll all be different.

Will you choose the fast, but mentally weak driver, or the slower, but physically fit, mentally strong and calm driver? :)

I can't see myself spending a whole lotta time with B Spec, but you never know.

I would like to use it for endurance but hopefully be able to switch between mysellf and Bob for say a 2 hour stint. Anyone know if you can do this in GT5?

It would be cool too if you can put him in a field with you during a race. It would kinda be like a real racing team.

If you want 100% completion you'll need to complete B-Spec mode as well.

Yea, I'm not saying that I won't do it, just probably won't spend alot of time on it in the beginning. If that is the only thing holding me back from getting 100% then absolutely I'll complete it! It could be fun, I just hope that you can integrate your drivers into your ASpec. That will make it worth so much more.

Contrary to my OP, I am really looking forward to playing B-spec in GT5, it sounds like they have vastly improved it.

But I still stand by my opening post, if they left it the way it was in GT4 it would have been better if they had just dropped it

Well if you need good co-drivers for enduros, start training em :)

What was so bad about it in GT4? I personally thought it was great to be able to send Bob out to El-Capitan while I watched TV and come back to the cash prize and the Minolta prize car or let him run the 8 hour endurance race while I sleep or am at work. It was a great way to earn extra cash and get the other colors on some of the prize cars like the Super Bee, RX7, F1.

I did think it was lame that some people would just let Bob run the races for them and not do them themselves but if that is the way they enjoy the game it is no skin off our backs.

This was all discussed thoroughly at the start of this thread, so I won't drag it back up, but if your interested just read through the entire thread.

"Also notice that A-Spec and B-Spec have the same races in Tiers."

The above was taken from Amar's post. Looks like it will literally be 50/50. So do you think we win the same cars each time for Aspec and Bspec?

I watched one B-Spec race on a live stream and it's pretty cool, and different from GT4

There seems to be a cool down period for every command change. The driver does clean overtakes now if you hit the overtake button, but the faster you get him to drive and overtake, the more his temperament turns to the hot side, so he starts to become more mistake prone. Physical strength meter also decays faster. And vice versa, command him to drive slow and he remains cool and calm.

When the driver had low strength he got a lot slower and the other cars started to catch up and overtake him :)

Also the lower level B-Spec races are much longer than the low level A-Spec races, 6 laps vs 2-3 etc

I'm looking forward to B-spec. Not due to laziness or the fact I want to send commands to a little computer dude in a car, but because I enjoy watching races. It's basically just television mode with slightly more concentration required. It's like I get to play the game in A-spec for a while, then kick back and have a beer when Bob takes over.

Thanks for the info! I can't wait to use B-Spec mode, also looking forward to remote racing too. Any word on whether I'll be able to do it on my iphone?

Im not a fan o B-Spec in GT5 but loved it in GT4.
Driver makes way to many mistakes, its very hard to calm him down so kinda ruins your race and on top of that you gotta do the same races you do in A-Spec (They're 2 different modes, so 2 different set of races).
And what makes me lose interest in it all is the fact they removed the 3x speed option that GT4 had.
It quite infuriating seing the driver making so many mistakes and ruin the race without being able to do anything.

Well he is still a rookie at the stage he is now, let him develop into a pro :)

I do hope there is a speed up option. Otherwise Enduros might not be so fun.... but maybe that unlocks as you get to longer races.

Yeah quite a few standards in the video.

These B-Spec drivers are at a low level, so I do expect them to "suck" for a while

this is a demonstration of the hard work polyphony did with the AI engine in GT5 (it is difficult to program AI in video games for a lot of different reasons but thats not the subject here) :
